I think the Pakistani Guy nailed it! When the economy cannot siphon people into the workforce you form a nexus to survive. It eventually evolves into a closed group that is then seen as a non-integrated community. This is not unique to Canada. Usually first generation immigrants who came in the 70s, 80s and 90s (and 2000s in case of mainland Europe) were treated quite poorly, not given enough opportunities and looked down upon. But they kept their heads down and worked hard with a resolve that their children would be of equal stature. While doing so they created networks and support systems that will help them survive and eventually thrive. This network worked very well for a while untill new generation immigrants came in and became a part of the network but had no idea what went in creating that safe space to begin with. Between immigrants and other countries that take tax money from the system is the reason why we are in the situation we are in. You may say why is that. Canadians could be not living under the poverty rate or homeless or this opioid addiction do you know how much the medication cost for suboxone or methadone 375 a month. Meanwhile the cost for a prescription of hydromorphone cast 130 to 150 a month. So sick of how much money goes on this big opioid crisis and how much it could be helped. Well...we all see it, we all live it, we all know what the problem is, we all know how it came about, and we all know what has to happen...An example, can be seen, by looking to the South.. We know it takes us goin out to the poles by the millions, to vote, in order to elect, who we think is best for the country,..but then we expect small groups, of only a few100, to be capable of affecting change, with such major, post electoral issues, as this. Make no mistake, this, Canada, has already become a completely different place,..it's no longer the home we knew and loved, as it was. All those aspects are gone. And this is just the beginning. Firstly, the IRCC filters receiving low skilled people, second most of them are located on main cities and provinces, most of the country is empty and finally if you are gonna keep your traditions here, do it inside your four walls. As a result, a large portion of retail jobs shifted toward a single ethnic group, while many Canadian citizens found themselves sidelined. One key factor was flexibility. Many immigrant communities—particularly Indian—were more willing to accept irregular hours and last-minute shifts, often adopting a more compliant, “yes sir” attitude that employers found appealing. However, I’m already beginning to notice changes in the retail landscape, likely due to the government finally tightening immigration rules. Going forward, we don’t need to close our doors—but we do need smarter immigration policies, with proper checks and balances, to ensure fairness and sustainability for everyone.
