This is a horrible situation on both ends and the fact that its all 100% administration failure is sad. Its not fair to anyone not even the immigrants. They keep bringing in more people then the economy can afford to live here I frankly find it ridiculous. I want to know whats driving these policies to continue. My parents came to canada 25 years ago, they payed thousands of dollars to get status here. Now people are getting in as cheap labour that can't even afford to live here so they dogpile 10-15 people in the same 2-3 bedroom apartments or houses and the infrastructure is still being built on the logic of single families when in the reality thr opposite is happening we have sudden crowding because rent is unaffordable due to the massive influx of people, including canadian born nationals that are forced to live in these environments if they don't have support- Its crazy why not close your borders stabilize rebuild infrastructure then slowly work on immigration policies again when the housing market and job market are stable again. Theres absolutely no reason to cite labour shortages when theres an unemployment rate and homeless people everywhere- close the borders- get homes built, throw heavy incentives to join and get educated on any productive field that has a shortage upto and including providing shelter to canadian citizens that decide to pursue these fields and are homeless. Have a fast track rotating incentive down to the year along with guaranteed on job training for all occupations. Such a simple solution so stupid we can't execute it. Too busy squabbling liberal conservative baseline rhetoric that we made ourselves blind to the human cost in our own borders.

First of all, Tyler is a hardworking journalist and I respect that, however a lot of this video was wildly ignorant, from almost everyone involved, including from him. This is cheap views unfortunately. It paints a very bad perspective for all the genuinely hardworking citizens and residents of Indian origins, why not show that side of them too? There’s obviously actual students who come to study and provide for the community while also maintaining their own culture? What’s wrong with that? Besides, what is a Canadian culture if not a mix of immigrants from all around the world? Are white people also not just immigrants to this country or did they magically spawn in this place? They’ve committed ATROCITIES (not just in Canada), yet have the audacity to act like they’re the cleanest ones in the land. While I do agree some Indians do not improve the reputation, most are really kind, helpful and honest people. PS, cutting to the ugly streets when someone mentions Punjab is probably the cheapest attention grab, obviously there’s bad streets, ugly roads, gross people everywhere but so are beautiful ones, lovely countryside views, beautiful mountains and most of all, very hardworking and respectful people as well. Here is a aggressively neutral take as a Canadian elementary school teacher in an area with an extremely high Indian population (around half our school is ethnically Indian). It is also my own opinion, and some opinions on the internet suck: The good: Cultural integration IS possible (the Indian families are more into hockey than the white families where I live), tons of cross-cultural friendships, beautiful blend of cultural celebrations, top achievers are almost always second-generation immigrants, kids are growing up to love their parents' culture while also loving Canada's, many fantastic families who engage their children well and raise them very respectfully, religious temples that will feed an amazing meal to ANYBODY who walks into them (as long as you cover your hair), low rates of family trauma (drugs, abuse, divorce, etc.), families that take care of their elders The rough: Not all families are interested in being Canadian (some families just send their kids to Indian speaking private schools, live in Indian areas, and only seem to practice Indian ways of life - what's even the point?), many Indian families retreated into their home-lives during Covid which removed their children from integration opportunities, a very small percentage of the families are absolutely TERRIBLE at parenting and treat their sons and daughters with different levels of respect, multi-family households pay a single property tax which makes the contribution per taxpayer much smaller (while social benefits are equal to anybody else), some crime such as extortion and gang activity has been imported into the country, some individuals' disregard for rules and laws (setting fireworks on Diwali in the middle of a dry, grassy field is just plain stupid), some Indian communities seem to vote blindly for their own ilk during local elections without any regard for policy or experience, LMIA immigration program has been corrupted by the nepotism of bad actors and the greed of large corporations (wages can be federally subsidized which makes it cheaper to hire immigrants than the 16 year old down the street). Many of these families were simply making good choices for their own family, so don't blame the people themselves for this - blame the government that allowed it to fester unsustainably. I'll continue to stick up for the majority of these beautiful families though - haters be darned! Watching these kids grow up gives me some hope for humanity!

I've met some wonderful, polite, hard working, immigrants that have come recently, but there's also far too many committing the most and worst crimes like grape, human trafficking, drugs, murder and more. This is a great mini doc that takes time to hear out all sides. I was not raised to be racist but at 67 and my family has been in Canada since 1536 , I can now say that I am racist. I do not agree with melding pot beliefs. the people being brought in to my country are NOT TRYING TO MERGE OR ADAPT “OUR” way of life. Better Rules for coming to this Country need to be implemented. like No banking outside of our banking system. no owning property until they have been in Canada for 15 years and have proven that they Support Canada not the country they Left and didn’t bother to try and work on. Indians are people who you can trust and respect, Hindus and Sikhs especially. It’s not a problem when these communities integrate perfectly within Canada or the US. Immigration technically is an asset for a country like Canada, however the open door policy turned that asset into a liability. When you have a migrant community congregate into ghetto like fashion, you know your policy has failed somewhere. Psychologically speaking human would naturally gravitate towards people they have similarities(language, color, likes & dislikes, etc) with and congregate as a "tribe" for warmth & security. Just put one white person alone in the middle of an Indian market at rush hour, i promise you they'd run to the first white person they spot for "security", now tell that one guy that he has to live in India for the foreseeable future and that he has a choice of living in any area of that city and he learns that there a part of town where most of the white people live, where do you think he'll go?

Lot of people....the original citizens feel the burn since the world around them is changing. It's natural that they harbor these ill feelings. Most of them are ill informed and have these racist views. It's true for every immigrant community that emigrated from Europe as well. You have Irish immigrant towns, little Italy's, China towns, little India's, polish neighborhoods in Chicago etc ...these kind of neighborhoods are all over north America (USA & Canada). This is natural. Assimilation happens in 1 or 2 generations. Economic expansion and fulfilling social security benefits for the older generation needs population growth and a new younger workforce. This is achieved thru immigration of skilled labor force of all kinds. Population dynamics and demographics keep changing all the time and it has happened thru out human history. Now we are living in an interconnected and inter dependent world. It's better to adapt to change and move on and retain your loyalty to the country they migrated to and contribute positively to their economy and try to assimilate as much as possible and be aware of the sensitivities. This new immigration is from Asia and they are of different ethnicities and cultural background unlike european immigration that happened earlier. The dude in the black jacket genuinely changed my mindset with immigration. India isn’t the best (by far) but it’s a fact that India is a beautiful country (without human input there) but doesn’t have any opportunities to build wealth down there because of poor governing

The contrast between immigrants, many from India, and the rhetoric of those who now feel like a new minority was striking. It should not surprise me that racism appears anywhere humans are, but what stood out was how some speakers treated all Indians as a single people, despite hundreds of cultures, and accused them of failing to assimilate to ‘their way.’ Many of those voices were themselves descendants of immigrants who were once pressured to abandon Norwegian or other identities in the name of assimilation. Yet there was little evidence they had actually spent time getting to know their Indian neighbors, their cultures, friendships, or daily realities. Instead, the focus was fear and a narrative of societal collapse, rather than honest engagement that separates real local issues from blanket blame. Of course, any local community can have problems, and some groups can be unwelcoming. But the argument presented implied there is only one way to be Canadian. That echoes xenophobic rhetoric in the US about who counts as ‘American,’ often while ignoring the reality of Indigenous peoples entirely. I do not deny the importance of shared commitments like the rule of law, freedom, and evidence based policy rooted in the Enlightenment and scientific thinking. But culture and learning can coexist with those values. What troubled me most was how poverty and discrimination were replaced with racial generalizations, and how victim language was used to deflect responsibility, something that resembles DARVO. Given the same conditions, these problems could arise in any group, regardless of race.

I am shocked at the fact there are more dislikes than likes when the CBC provides facts and so many people say they are lies, and others agree! The negative sentiments about refugees and immigrants are getting louder and people are happy to call fellow human beings “them”. They insinuate this is a huge burden, when the fact is we benefit from migration. It seems people think Canada will be over run by people from a foreign land, take all the resources and eliminate people born here, but that’s only happened once, when the British and the French arrived 400 years ago.
