Thank you for this report on Brampton. For context, I am a 4th generation Canadian, my ancestors immigrated here a few years prior to confederation in 1867. I have worked in the tool and die industry for decades and many of my associates work for or manage tool and die businesses in Brampton. Everyone in Brampton knows what is changing there. When I try to explain to my friends that what is happening in Brampton is not balanced, they do not understand, they think I am a racist. I told them that my Indian friends in Brampton feel the same way I do. They look at me like a deer in the headlights. Nothing has turned me against a politician so vehemently as Justin Trudeau's management of immigration. The man had no idea how to effectively manage immigration in a way which would integrate people into a culture and society such as Canada. That certainly is not creating a microcosm of one nation in a city.

Let’s take it one lie at a time. First the video opens saying over 850k inhabitants, within a minute or two all of a sudden the population is now 750k. Meanwhile the actual population is 650k. Brampton has not been a city of 18k or 28 k as many for at least 60 years. In 1980 the population of Brampton was over 200k, so very far above the supposed 28k. Slightly over 150k are from India or of Indian ancestry, so not a majority. A little under a third of Brampton inhabitants are immigrants. Again not a majority. Homeless shelters are usually found in churches, especially ones with homeless centers in them like the one visited by the video crew. 4 bigots in the streets is what was interviewed to present a bigoted view of a city. Canada's Immigration Crisis: Prioritizing National Interests Over Uncontrolled Influx from India The Government of Canada must immediately pause all new immigration from India until systemic abuses are fixed. This is not xenophobia—it is evidence-based policy to protect Canadian jobs, housing, healthcare, and social cohesion from documented exploitation. 1. Failure to Assimilate: Parallel Societies Indian newcomers are building insulated communities rather than integrating: Enrolling children in private ethnic schools that teach Punjabi/Gujarati/Hindi first, Canadian history second. Erecting religious/cultural statues (e.g., Sikh soldiers, Hindu deities) that symbolize India, not Canada. Hiring almost exclusively within their networks—creating ethnic enclaves in Brampton, Surrey, and Abbotsford. Result: Two-tier citizenship where one group opts out of shared Canadian identity. 2. Systematic Fraud & Loophole Exploitation IRCC data shows India as the #1 source of immigration fraud: Diploma mills: Over 100 Punjab-based “colleges” exist solely to sell student visas. Graduates demand PR after 6–12 months of attendance. Staffing note: Many of these fake schools hire only Indian instructors and administrators. Chain migration: One student sponsors parents → parents sponsor siblings → endless loop. Elderly parents (65+) arrive with zero tax history yet access free healthcare and OAS/GIS top-ups. I am an Indian student who has struggled to get my papers done, and I have to say this: mass immigration needs to stop. Canada should allow only people who speak good English and who can truly contribute to this country. I am an IT student, and I worked hard to clear $120K in debt through Scotiabank. I could have taken a loan in my home country, but I chose to work here because Canada gave me everything my own country could not. I am deeply grateful for that. But when I see people from my own community walking around in flip-flops, unable to speak even one word of English, it breaks me inside. My city—Brampton—has been completely taken over, and it’s becoming harder to even drive there now. I believe Canada needs to come together and put an end to this. Enough is enough. Immigration should be about quality, not quantity.

Brampton and other cities have seen large Indian and Pakistani immigration waves due to Canada’s labor and education opportunities. But despite being invited under official immigration programs, these communities face systemic racism and unequal treatment. 📊 Employment Discrimination: • A 2021 Statistics Canada report found that racialized Canadians earned 20% less on average than their white counterparts, even when education and experience were controlled. • South Asian immigrants specifically face higher rates of credential discounting, where their foreign education and experience are undervalued. 📊 Hiring Bias: • A University of Toronto study revealed that applicants with “ethnic” names were 40% less likely to receive a callback compared to those with Anglo-sounding names, even with identical résumés. • Another survey showed that unemployment rates for racialized Canadians are consistently 1.5–2x higher than for white Canadians. 📊 Perceptions vs. Reality: • While white Europeans continue to integrate without much resistance, South Asians are often stereotyped as “taking over” neighborhoods. • Immigrants from India and Pakistan have one of the highest workforce participation rates in Canada, working in everything from Uber and trucking to tech and medicine—contributing directly to the economy. Meanwhile, many first-generation South Asian immigrants don’t qualify for the refugee-style supports that others receive. Instead, they work long hours, often in precarious jobs, just to cover bills. The frustration often mistaken as an “attitude problem” comes from facing daily systemic barriers—being seen as “less than” despite contributing equally, if not more, to society. The underlying issue is that the old colonial mindset persists: brown immigrants are not granted the same social standing as white Canadians. Equality on paper is not equality in practice.

Brampton born and bread here 🙋‍♂️. During my childhood and teenage years, Brampton was known to be one of the most ethnically diverse places in the world. It wasn’t until my university years I noticed an influx of people of a particular demographic in my city. Now, the majority of Bramptonians who lived in the city 10+ years ago have essentially been flushed out of our own city. I’m not opposed to immigration at all but what this group have done to the fabric and culture of Brampton is so sad. It’s moved from a city of diversity to one of homogeneity and it’s absolutely disheartening.

Broad Ethnic Groups (2021 Census) This classification focuses on larger panethnic groups. White: 72.9% Asian: 17.7% Indigenous: 5.2% Black: 3.5% Latin American: 1.5% Canada hasn't changed all that much, and certain cities having one ethnic group that is not even new. Little Italy? Cabbage Town? China Town(s), Ukrainian and Finnish areas in western Canada? Asians in Vancouver. This time, it's the Indians, but Brampton has been changing for years into Brown Town. Years!

In 20 years no one but South Asians will want to live in Brampton. Why travel 10000km to setup a city that looks and operates like the place you wanted to escape?

Can thank Trudeau for the immigration mess we are in. Between 2015 to 2024, Canada took in just over 3 million immigrants. This does not include temporary foreign workers and international students both of which saw a significant increase especially after mid-2022. About over one quarter of the new immigrants are from India and Pakistan. This likely explains how Brampton became the fastest growing city in Canada (ninth most populous municipality in Canada) and the third largest city in Ontario surpassing Mississauga at the start of 2025 behind Toronto and Ottawa. Trudeau preached immigration diversity but this is not diversity when over a quarter came from 2 countries.

30 + years in this city and i have seen the changes. I dont want to single out students but they are the main reason for it. Fake car insurances and expensive cars they cant afford. Results in my insurance being higher by default. Many students coming here and not studying but getting on trucks as soon as they get their license makes brampton one of if not the most city with trucking companies . Sheridan college with its low standards dooms the city. Multiculturalism is good but when people ruin that for others for their own cash grab methods makes this city extremely expensive to live in.

I'm an Aussie who did a Working Holiday in Canada and was shocked at the level of segregation in Canadian cities. They have literal cities that cater exclusively to one ethnicity; examples include Surrey and Brampton (Indian), Richmond, Burnaby and Markham (Chinese) and Vaughan (Italian). It's really funny cos Canadians that come to Australia like to lecture us on how welcoming and mixed Canada is when Canadian society is far more segregated than ours.

No one from the surrounding cities in the GTA want to step foot in Brampton. May as well be a different country.
