22years ago a family of four newcomers - mom, dad and two kids, from Pakistan, moved in next door to us in a small south west Ontario city. Beautiful neighbourhood with lovely homes. Within 18 months there were 21 family members - parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc - packed in there and the government cheques were pouring in; surprise, surprise; suddenly they were able to start buying businesses and investment properties. Don’t get me wrong, they were nice and only took advantage of everything the government was offering but they certainly flaunted rules and what I’d call Canadian conventions. Their house and property was turning into a complete shithole and we did the “white flight” shortly afterwards. Make no mistake, whether it’s India or Pakistan, we are slowly, or maybe not so slowly, be colonized by those countries…and those are not nice countries.

I learned several years ago during a time of unemployment that our EI centers are not for us, they are for immigrants. Not one service was for me, but if I was an immigrant, the entire world opens up including lots of financial support, they will even help you open a business. Yet we are the ones paying into it.

Its not just diploma mills. I did an MBA at Schulich School of Business in Toronto from 2021-2023 and about 80% of students were from India. Of that 80%, about 50% barely spoke english and had experience that was substantially less rigorous than the domestic students. I'm glad the government is starting to address this but their scope is too narrow - it is not just "diploma mills", institutions we once thought were reputable are also being diluted and the quality of education is decreasing precipitously across the board as a result.

We need to have what they need ? How about what we need? I don't care what immigration lawyer says. It's his business. Who said that studying abroad gives you a right to stay there? Same with temporary workers. It is TEMPORARY. It shouldn't be automatic for students, they get an education and we choose who we want to stay.

Canada benefits a lot from immigration, and it’s one of the main reasons the country actively encourages newcomers. Here’s a breakdown in simple terms: ✅ Benefits of Immigration for Canada Population Growth Canada has a low birth rate, so without immigrants, the population would shrink. Immigration helps keep the workforce young and growing. Economic Growth Newcomers fill jobs, start businesses, and pay taxes. Skilled immigrants help in industries facing shortages (healthcare, tech, trucking, etc.). Diversity & Innovation Different backgrounds bring new ideas, cultural exchange, and global connections. Many successful Canadian companies were started by immigrants. Support for Aging Population Canada has many retirees. Immigrants contribute to pension plans and healthcare systems, supporting older generations. Global Reputation Canada is seen as a welcoming, multicultural country, which boosts tourism, trade, and international partnerships. ⚠️ Challenges (but still manageable) Housing demand increases

This feels 6-8 years too late, You could even argue it as far back as 2010. We should've never kept our numbers at such high of a % of our population, it should've always been focused industries only such as agriculture. Instead our business model is basically : Cheap Labour via Worker Visas, Housing Market due to quick and massive population boost and Student Visas making them pay 3.5x more than regular students that encourages post-secondary schools to choose international over domestic which may also have long-term consequences as we see many immigrants go back to their home or take their degree to a higher paying nation.

IMO France 24's reporting is a little confused on this issue. You're getting the perspective of 1) immigrants that have been denied a path to citizenship and 2) corporations that can't offer attractive wages to Canadians. We have far too many companies whose business model is that Canada should be a low-cost labour source, i.e. they've invested in a future supporting immigrants and not Canadians.

What about entirely stopping the temporary foreign workers program, for every industry, other than agricultural. Canadians need jobs, too. It can't ALL benefit big business at the expense of unemployed Canadian citizens.

Canada and it's citizens are AMAZING for all the programs that help facilitate this. Canada's food banks are the most generous in the entire world. Come one, come all - Canada will give you free health insurance and better than basic income, just claim refugee. It'll take years to progress. Canada will also give interest free loans while you're here. Most just pool up their funds and buy businesses outright. There is simply no reason why not to leave America and go to Canada.
