The questioner is just proving her own questions? What is non-compliance as a student? Not going to the college? How many colleges shut down their courses within the said period? Do you expect students to be firever students? What if they get work permit while still being student? This is very possible for the IT engineers from India, they are student here but get a job in USA or any other country and they leave. Where are the statistics of students who got married to Canadian nationals and decided to stop studying because of family expenses? It will be easy to track down the fees transfer and return of these said 8% non-compliant students. Did they get their money back? If not, then why didn't colleges paid the remaining fees back and report that non-obligatory to the study visa rules? Or, was the past govt quite about this because Canada needed cheap labor and money in other colleges accounts?

Canada has changed significantly in recent years, and I believe our post-COVID immigration policies have played a major role in the challenges we’re facing today. As a result, a large portion of retail jobs shifted toward a single ethnic group, while many Canadian citizens found themselves sidelined. One key factor was flexibility. Many immigrant communities—particularly Indian—were more willing to accept irregular hours and last-minute shifts, often adopting a more compliant, “yes sir” attitude that employers found appealing. However, I’m already beginning to notice changes in the retail landscape, likely due to the government finally tightening immigration rules. Going forward, we don’t need to close our doors—but we do need smarter immigration policies, with proper checks and balances, to ensure fairness and sustainability for everyone.

Understand the term “asylum” seekers where they are coming from and why!! Demand for better healthcare services when you vote next time rather than gaslighting this issue. There are rules and laws in place, universally applicable covenants that protect vulnerable folks. Things shouldn’t have to be that divisive.

I was born in Canada, But Our Family migrated to the USA when I was 2 years old in 1976 we adapted to the USA culture. I grew up on US values. US laws, US living. Our Family moved back in Canada in 1997 to Nova Scotia. We then adapted back to the Canadian culture. Mother and Father taught us to always support the country you live in. Adapt to it's culture and rules. I live in Quebec now in Montreal been here since 2018. I'm always learning french here and there but speak mostly english. But I support the french language. Some days on the weekend though downtown when I see all the immigrants praying in the streets I am starting to miss the USA though. But I do not process an Green Card anymore.

there is one way to solve this problem and that is financial punishment for rule breaking. it's the only thing these people understand. and i think whoever opened the flood gates understands this very well also

If you have a problem with immigration then you need to talk to your government and city council about it. These people are coming legally per your country’s rule, so no point blaming them to be there. You should have a problem with your government to stop this not the people.

Finally, the government is trying to correct the underlying issue related to foreign students and the colleges involvement. All the colleges recruiting international students should adhere to strict rules and regulations . They should not ignore students' bad behaviors and false credentials in order to obtain a student permit in Canada. Also, Canada Immigration also needs to scrutinize both students and colleagues

When the requirements were higher the people who came actually wanted to be here. The recent surge does not care one bit about the values or people they just want to take as much as possible for themselves and will bend every rule imaginable to do so.

we could have linked immigration to the data points and mandatory rules to ensure temporary workers are paid 50% more than the prevailing market wage to ensure its legitimacy. Unfortunately its runited and far behind the repair and its still going on without any brakes :'(

The way to fix this is to have stricter rules stopping these people coming in the first place.

Our system depends on people having some sense of honesty and abiding by the rules. It is clear that some countries do not respect that.
