I think the law just backfired in general, it's so in favor of the tenants that less and less potential landlords are putting up their place for rent to reduce the headaches from abusers, at least thats what i see from the people around me |

On the other side rent prices are crazy high to the point of people being forced onto the streets. Some of these Landlords who have dumps are charging. they really need to balance stuff out. Im actually in the business I am on both sides of this. I don't agree with how the system works in either case. |

Small landlords in Ontario have no power. I get that slum corporations and shady landlords take advantage of the system, but small landlords are completely at the mercy of tenants. The LTB takes forever—at least six months—to schedule a hearing. And even then, if you make one tiny mistake on the application, you’re screwed. You have to re-file, pay more paralegal fees, and start the whole nightmare over again. It’s absolutely ridiculous and so unfair! Tenants game the system knowing they're protected under the RTA. Ontario needs new rules. |

I know if i dont pay my mortgage for three months, the bank doesn't care why they just haven't been paid, and i will get kocked out. Why the double standard for tenants who don't pay? Landlords should be able to kick them out if they haven't paid for three months. If you think we have a housing problem, now wait and see if this keeps up.\n\nI know two ppl who own second home and condo and they wont rent it to anyone. The house and condo sit there empty because they are afraid of getting mean-spirited, greedy tenants who cause grief. |
