2 years, 4 months ago @middleearthtroll6183 I work for the BC provincial government, and part of my job is to hunt for homes to house women who are escaping violence. After spending 3 months searching for homes in Surrey, I've seen anywhere between 10-22 individuals living in a modest sized home. These homes are often very well run-down, have poor plumbing, and many illegal suites, and I've literally seen people sleeping in closets. Landlords can get away with this because the students from India don't care, don't have a choice, or are used to this standard. What the federal government is doing is unbelievable, allowing many people into the country. Just because international students come from places where they can sleep on top of each other doesn't mean they should allow it to happen here, reducing the living standards for everyday tax-paying Canadians. 2 years, 4 months ago @arsh9113 [ Coming from a student ] - Nobody is to Blame beside THE GOVERNMENT! They mislead many international students to come here without even checking if the Colleges exist! They just kept giving visas to many students and when students reach here then they realize they made a big mistake especially after looking at the present bad economy and giving the tuition money to these money grabbers (GOVERNMENT AND COLLEGES). And to make it worse you have to pay 10k to the banks before coming which is now 20k and then the students pay 3 times the money compared to Canadian students, Which to pay-off, a lot of these students do all kind of jobs for so many hours a weeks just to pay the fees and their living bills. Hence, the reason for them not able to focus on their studies properly, less work for other folks and every other things which is effected. As a Student I was financially fine which was the main reason for my pretty much smooth journey here but not everyone has the same backups. I feel really bad for the students and hope this money grabbing madness stops and the immigration for at least 3- 4 years..... 1 eP02h50KIOA

2 years, 4 months ago @ettietti8533 One issue you did not talking about is the international students taking the Canadian universities space from the Canadian citizen students. Especially for doctorate degrees canada government allowed only 3% of Canadian student to enter to this program the same as for dentist, laws and other this is unjust, and discrimination against the canadine citizen students after all those international students are not Canadian citizen and their English languish is the second languish, why a Canadian citizen student have to go to USA or other countries and pay doubles fees in order to get in to those programs. \nI want the government canada in order to make it right approving 97% of Canadian student application for those programs in all universities in canada and only 3% application for international students. This will resolve the discrimination issue, the houses crises, and the shorter of Canadian citizen doctor’s in canada. ?? 1 eP02h50KIOA

Our economy is going to collapse because we have too many people and not enough jobs. We are literally having problems developing nations in Africa or Asia have except we ARE DOING IT TO OURSELVES. 2 years, 4 months ago @planet-karma The government's idea of expediting residency for students was a bad idea from the beginning - of course, it was going to be exploited by bad actors to basically be a back door for immigration. Coming to Canada to study should have no direct link to becoming an immigrant. It should be a separate process again so we no longer have this ridiculous issue. 1 eP02h50KIOA

The they find work in every area for poor wages, live under stressful conditions by their own etnic group, and eve tually find ways to apply for their family to come to Canada. Why? The international students help keep down the cost. The Canadian government has slowly clawed back their subsidies and is using the international to offset their decrease in subsidies. 1 eP02h50KIOA

They don't stay in low income housing areas like Trudeau team think these people are using up all rental apartments. They rent lux condos. In the long run, if they want to settle here, they bring money into the country, and they're good for the economy vs many uneducated poor immigrants ended up into gangs. They’re outsourcing their responsibilities by making it seems like international students are the main reason of our housing crisis. Students contribute significantly to the economy and work anywhere and everywhere in jobs that many of us won’t do. 2 years, 4 months ago @GlitchTech Universities sould be required to have a certain percentage of student housing available. for example 50% housing/dorm room coverage. If 1000 students are enrolled then 500 units should be available to the students. Of course 50% is just a random number used for this example, but, I'm sure there are stats and numbers out there to figure out how many units would be beneficial. 2 eP02h50KIOA

2 years, 4 months ago @mitcht4334 When you see movies set in the past at university's, students are always living in dorms 6 people to a room etc. Fastest way to build more beds is to build dorms, smash up hostels close to university's... big benefit in the international students paying more than local students, to make it cheaper for Canadians. This is absolutely solvable if they want it to be, and they shouldn't be competing with low-income folks for family housing. \n\nAlso, those second tier schools should only provide classes that match up with Canada's needs in terms of trained workers 2 eP02h50KIOA
