This is why rental inventory is dropping, tenants who abuse the system are definitely part of the problem.\nLTB is so lethargic, good luck buddy I hope you get her out.\nThere are wonderful tenants out there. |

Personally I think it’s not worth relying on rent pay for your retirement… stock portfolio would be better. If you want real estate income, then buy publicly traded REITs, and even the REITs, buy multiple of them and spread the risk across. If your retirement relies on income from a few tenants, those few tenants can really screw you over in your retirement. Feel bad for the man. |

This is a big part of the reason why we have a housing crisis. Nobody wants to invest their money in creating rental units if they can’t collect rent, so that reduces the supply of rental units. Less supply equals higher prices. Landlords also have to charge more to account for potential lost rent in this system. So in the end the stolen free rent is simply paid for by other renters who get passed on the higher prices |

All by design, Gov’t allows and causes these sort of tenant problems in the first place to get out of hand, with their unjust laws supporting criminal behaviour to occur. Easier to divide and conquer a nation having citizens fight each other in a battle ripe for the picking for the Elite’s NWO agenda. |

Sad part is Jagmeet Singh is pushing for MORE tentant rights to make this even more difficult. I'm dealing with similar situation, massive repairs stiffed on rent, thankfully it's not Ontario or BC. If they ever go to buy a house now they will have outstanding court order against them. |

Tenants done pay rent, Landlord is terrified and leaves Investment property vacant. Govt charges vacant tax. Landlord hikes rent to cover interest and past dues, tenant stops paying again. Govt collects tax from both. |

Small landlords get fleeced waiting for the tribunal. \n\nBut if you're a corporate landlord, you get your case heard in a week or two. Why? How? Well, these corporations have lawyers who each book dozens or hundreds of time slots a year IN ADVANCE. They know they will only use a few of them for their needs. The rest go unused. Meanwhile people booking tribunal cases as needed get pushed out a year or more.\n\nThis is a broken system tailored for the rich and connected. The tenants who abuse it are doing so as a loophole strategy. |

Lesson: build a retirement investment portfolio and don’t rely on a rental income for retirement. If this gentleman had been saving those pennies into index fund ETFs, he’d have a boat load of money to withdraw from for retirement! |

If a thousand renters work together, they could avoid paying $41,600,000 that they would ordinarily have paid in rent. Using that money, they could start a credit card company. A credit card company doesn't have to extend much credit to one person, and it can charge high interest rates. |

It seems like there is a small percentage of really bad tenants AND also really bad landlords creating awful policies that ruin it for the large percentage of good tenants and good landlords. Every time I read the news there are horror stories from the point of view of renters BUT also horror stories from the point of view of landlords (like in this case). How can the whole system be so completely broken for both sides? It's crazy lol. |
