The system is completely broken. Having your property held hostage is unbelievable. If you don’t pay your car loan, someone comes to take your car, plain and simple. “But I need the car for work” don’t want to hear it. Same should apply for rental housing. |

if you rented a car and don't pay or machines, tools or appliances (though most of the time you have to pay up front), they have option to chase you up with additional fines and send to debt collection even after you've returned the item if you didn't pay up upon return. But rents arrears don't usually remain after tenants moved out because landlord are not companies able to chase them up. |

To avoid future problems, just don’t rent your units to these people. \n\nThey have extra rights that’s you don’t have. They are allowed to take goods out of the store without paying. They can be captured for serious crimes in the morning and being bailed out in the evening. |

This legislation needs to be changed to support the landlords and if the the federal , provincial and municipal levels provides incentives to landlords maybe people wouldn’t withhold rent. Olivia Chow invited people to Toronto and the NDp will support you. |
