There is so much negativism associated with Islam and all Muslims get tarred with the same brush. They frighten us. Their dress is alien to us. ISIL and other groups do unspeakable things in the name of their religion. Their religion is too demanding. Christianity and other religions can adjust to scientific facts. We KNOW the world is round and there are other worlds, so far unpopulated, out there. Islam seems to demand adherence to its core beliefs written centuries ago and makes no concessions to emerging facts. Religion is the main influence in the life of Muslims and their Imams seem to have a lot to do with governance and education, instead of the separation of church and state to which we are used. If you come to Canada to live, then adjust to our values or leave, please. This doesn't mean that you have to stop attending a mosque but please discontinue the scary body coverings and start treating your women as equals, not chattels. Even some women will argue with that last bit, but why does a woman have to cover up and a man does not? This is NOT equality. |

Canada is going the way of Europe (France, Belgium - even England). Religions are all absurd nonsense, but this one is particularly worrisome, advocating violence, the destruction of infidels and installation of shariah law. More political than mystical, really. So sad to throw away this great country built by our hard working, well meaning ancestors. I think a concern for the Islamic doctrine could be a valid concern in a secular nation. The other concern that goes right along with it is a discrimination against Muslim citizens. There is a clear ideological line that separates Islamic doctrine from Muslims, yet this line is blurred for far too many people. |
