2 years, 1 month ago @e.gadd.1 I bet another reason the government would rather have rentals is they usually pay twice the property taxes that homeowners do. That can amount to tens of thousands a year difference in tax revenue for each and every property on a street. Sad but true.....\nStill I have to agree with the high immigration numbers. It seems I've always had a general idea of what a Canadian looks like but the past years I'm regularly seeing people that look Chinese, Indian, African, Arab.... all kinds of ethnic looks calling themselves Canadian. Of course god bless diversity it is the commandment of god herself here in the U.S. but its something to get used to! 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY

2 years, 1 month ago @lorainestjames4181 it does not matter who is in Parliment the big unaffordability problem is from corporate and wealthy foreign investment in properties that are left empty for flipping for profit, vacation homes and airb&b. 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY

2 years, 1 month ago @BavneetBrar-s9m When it comes to inflation and tax hikes, the UK isn't playing a game of catch-up with Canada and Australia, it's running neck and neck. 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY

2 years, 1 month ago @edaiston If no one wants to live here ,why did more than a million people immigrate to Canada in the last two years? 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @gb6591 I was wrong the whole time about Canada! 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @JamesBond-uz2dm In a few years, Canada will become Cuba the ancestral home of PM Trudeau, Fidel's son. Shortages of everything, rationing, crumbling infrastructure and no middle class. 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @kbengson9163 Most of what was reported here is true but the housing market and rents have skyrocketed all over the world since the Chinese government F'd everyone with Covid-19. At first there were supply chain issues with all goods so businesses said we have to increase prices. Once supply issues were back to pre-Covid-19 levels businesses did not & will not lower their prices on goods because , we as a society do not take matters into our own hands and boycott products\\company's etc. Now obviously we cannot boycott all goods & services but the majority we could and that is the only thing that would cause action among companies to lower bank fees, fast food prices, grocery prices, cell plan costs etc.\n\nWith that said, you picked two of the highest and most sought after city's in CAN to rent & or try to buy a home. Although rent & home prices have really jumped all over the world in the past 3-4 years, more affordable (still not cheap) housing, compared to Toronto, Vancouver, can be found all across CAN. My sister & brother in law found an apartment to rent in Winnipeg without any difficulty or waiting. \nThey are immigrants and entered on her student Visa & he is a computer programmer. They are not struggling to eat but they have to follow a tight budget since she cannot work but 20 hours a week as a student and they have 1 kid, a car payment, utilities, cell plan, etc. They have filed for their PR and I suspect they will be approved since his job is in demand and she will graduate from College there in 4 months or so.\n\nOne thing I noticed, when my wife & I went up to get them settled in, is that the government (national & local) taxes you all pay out of the wazzoo on everything! I think the only thing that wasn't taxed was air. ? I know most of this is due to the healthcare system, because the money has to come from somewhere. Don't misunderstand, I like the CAN healthcare system better than the US's, because the insurance companies stick it to us as well, but both have their pluses and minuses.\n\nCAN does have a much easier system for immigration. If my sister & bro in law could have come here we would have been glad for them to stay with us and help them get started but the backlog is just so long to wait (10 + years). I also LOVE CAN because you uphold your laws and DEPORT illegal immigrants instead of letting them pour into the Country, by the millions each year, and the majority eventually trickle into the population illegally, who get jobs & pay no taxes (other than sales tax) no driver's licenses or vehicle insurance and get 100% free medical and hospital care anytime while legal US citizen's pay high premiums, into social security and their income taxes each year. 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @DDaanniii11 lol my news video was used ? (it was just a snippet of it) that news interview I did a few months back was in regards to daycare costs and cost of living it’s horrible in this country. $1000-2000 daycare so I can go work and get the min amount of groceries needed it’s just become such a sad place 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @rt-a2005 Diversity is ok however, too much diversity makes it just down right horrible! 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @aamirs7123 I wish I had not moved to western countries many years ago, worst culture (individualism), worst retirement (live/die alone or in a retirement home), worst family structure (kids move out after 18 yrs).. the only good thing about these countries is the education system.. which they stole from the Islamic World and the land they stole from Native people.. 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @BLR1GBattlemaster I think you missed one key important cause of all this, and one the liberal's biggest policy failures: unfettered immigration. Everyone on r/canada knows and talks about this. It's why housing is becoming more unaffordable, and why wages have stagnated. Canada can't support this huge influx of immigrants. 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @champagneindia4929 Canadian here. Just let Indians stop coming to country. Canada will be great again. 1 ZvSNcnG2eqY

2 years, 1 month ago @hahanyee Born and raised in Canada. The rising cost of living is just depressing and I’ve basically given up on starting a family because of it here in Vancouver. I know that in order to move out of my parents house, I’d have to get a full time job, eat instant noodles only, and have at least five roommates in order to continue living here. Minimum wage in BC is $16/hr changing to $17/hr but living wage is at least $26/hr last I checked. It’s so sad because I love it here but it seems just seems impossible to be hopeful . 7 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @bangyahead1 I think hockey players have a 30% higher income tax than any other occupation. Nobody in their right mind would want to play for a Canadian team. So, clearly, Mitch Marner and John Tavares are out of their gordes, becaue they actually wanted to play for the Queefs, er, I mean, Leafs. 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @AggieAze US is using Canada as an immigrant filter. 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY

2 years, 1 month ago @rameshhansaravendra To cut the long story short, it's time to leave Canada and head for Florida or texas 2 ZvSNcnG2eqY
2 years, 1 month ago @OpTiCNoobtube It’s not just bc of the party in charge. Our country has some of the worst American solutions to issues that are common in say the UK. We don’t take internationally trained doctors - make them do nonsense tests, make them live in shithole towns, reduce their wages. We don’t let international grocers or cellphone companies in to protect our own non-competitive, shitty companies. We don’t let international dairy in. We can’t have Greek feta cheese but we can have shitty ‘Greek style’ cheese made by some farmer in Regina. We have always isolated ourselves and attached ourselves to Americans. We need to open up and change instead of protecting our shitty companies 0 ZvSNcnG2eqY
