I would like to see Tyler interview the Native Americans in Montana. My cousin went to, I believe it was Billings, Montana. He had a lot of people just being straight up rude towards him, and when he was talking to some of the locals, they said that the Native Americans hate other Americans. Just thought it’d be interesting to see them talk about it. That and how the native Hawaiians hate Tourists. (Nassau Bahamas would be a good one. They have that massive Atlantis waterpark and casino which the locals are not allowed in. And you have to drive through the town before you get to the entrance of the park. All the buildings are all boarded up people just sitting in the streets, all ragged. Well, tourist are partying in this massive waterpark with a lazy river that goes around the entire park)

My parents immigrated in the early 90s and I was born in Canada. It’s very hard to relate to the new immigrants in the last 10 years because we’re so different. The families that immigrated in the 80s and 90s had to assimilate and become “Canadian” which in hindsight was for the best. I learned about my culture and language at home, but my parents, emphasized the importance of being “Canadian first” and being a part of society and “fitting in.” This wasn’t at all a bad thing. I learned to ski, skate, make ice lollies with snow and syrup, went camping, played sports… I feel embarrassed when Indians are looked at in this light, but its true. 90% of this new wave of immigrants on “student visas,” dont intend to actually obtain any sort of an education, instead they use it as a pathway for permanent residency. I know this because I have relatives who say this out loud behind closed doors. I don’t agree with any of it, and quite frankly it’s very embarrassing, but most of us first generation Indian Canadians feel very upset about how its all played out and the negative light in which our people are now viewed under. Personally, I agree they arent interested in becoming culturally Canadian, they just want to be in Canada for financial reasons. They stay in their groups, dont integrate and think somehow this will play out well. It isnt discrimination when your own people also feel this way. I have yet to meet a first gen Canadian who disagrees

To Canadian people, the community that most interested in coming to Canada is Punjabi Sikh, why?-> ISI of Pakistan with CIA radicalized most of them back in 1970 against GOI. They rebels( khalistani ) disguised themselves as Holy warriors ironically their actions were against Sikh Principles. Long story short Indian Republic went to war with them, smashed their butts . Most of them started taking refuge in UK and Canada. Your Govt tried to fish in troubled waters in India. Back to present, these guys got rich due to better job opportunities. This attracted their relatives to shift as well. This started to take a form of movement in Punjab, India to go settle in Canada. Canadian govt supported this, I don't why they wanted that. Now these guys rally your streets, don't obey rules. Guess what, Canadian Govt is protecting them from Indian Govt. Destroying relationship with Indian Govt just for them.

I was born and raised in Brampton (but of South Asian descent via the Caribbean) and it pains me to see how the city has changed over the past 20 years. I was raised to be a proud Canadian and to be grateful for the opportunities that this country has afforded my family and I. I am a Canadian first, and Guyanese/Indian second. The issue I have with the city is that you have enclaves of ethnically homogenous people who refuse to assimilate - I once went into a Tim Hortons at Peter Robertson and Dixie, and was laughed at by the cashiers because I could not speak Hindi/Punjabi (despite being brown). There is nothing wrong with immigration - it makes the country stronger. HOWEVER, that only happens if the immigrants work to collectively advance the interests of the country and accept the rules/societal norms of the country they now call home. Instead, they find ways to circumvent/exploit the system - they are less interested on making society better, and more interested in individual advancement. I live in Professors Lake, which historically was one of the more affluent areas of the city. Now, there are several houses on my street that have essentially become boarding houses, divided into units of four with 10+ people living inside. I fully understand why white Canadians are feeling displaced, and it pains me that anti-immigrant sentiment has soured the way people look at me (despite being born in Canada).

I heard why the government did the immigrants wrong. I was talking to an uber driver and my pharmacist. They told me the promises of luxury in Canada has and offered for them to live a better lives. They didn't know after they came here for work and or college/university they become in major debt. They said that they're in a luxury debt and never getting out of debt knowing that they're stuck in Canada and can't be allowed to leave unless they pay off the debts. That's 100 % wrong to do that to people when they know they don't feel welcomed and want to go home. I'm a metis Canadian and I had to leave Ontario to find affordability and miss my home. GOVERNMENT THIS IS YOUR FAULT AND YOU KNOW IT! Let them go home in debt. You made this mess. FIX IT! Including the baby boomers that made the problem started 8 % rate interests to buy houses. That was a mistake that should be bought 1 house and nothing else. I forgot to add something. The uber driver told me that india doesn't know that it's a debt luxury trap that you can't leave unless you pay your debt. He felt alone and found some people and the internet to make himself feel better temporary. TEMPORARY! He hates it here, but he respects Canadians. He feels sorry for the new ones that are coming to become debt trap. It's the same for the pharmacy. She got into college to be a pharmacy and bought the store. She is on low income but doesn't qualify for any supports like benefits to pay off her medical things. The reason she can't because they'll see the pharmacy store is income. Wait what? So she doesn't quilify for benefits because she's making income to pay off her massive loan to do her job. It's not enough to live by as what she told me. She also does misses home, but also traped in luxury debt. This is what I have learned so far. I went through a car accident and coudln't get out of the car. I thought in Brampton, Ontario was the rudest people on the planet, but was saved by the angels of indian people saved me out of the vehicle from the smoke. I still thank you! There is still good people out there and some are stupid people out there. Keep it up because being kind gets you to be positive to others and make things better when the world is fcked right now.

We, the people, don't have free education, many students own loans from universities.\nWe can not buy houses, and no programs help us.\nWe (USA)have a lot of homeless, criminals, people with mental health, PEOPLE ADDICTIVE TO HEAVY DRUGS, plus the alcohol, weed, cigarettes, undecated young people, 30 percent only have a banchelors degree the 70 percent in the whole country don't have university education and not counting young people getting pregnant with toxic partners and their kids repeat the same poisonous life affecting their generations touching lives in a bad way.\nUSA has a lot of potholes in the roads, our foods have over 300 harmful chemicals to harm our health, the health system sucks, education is low teacher teach with youtube and are lazy to teach, educational system is super slow to process student classes or to advice them they make a mess in the documentation of the payments or financial aid, we have to baby sit the educational system to do their jobs and get things done, the food so expensive the egg, milk, vegetable, fruits, gas so expensive it never went down we still paying in LA 5 dollar per gallon to 6.50.\nUSA RENT are for the roofs some states do not even have rental control student loans kill people with HIGH INTEREST THEY GO AFTER YOUR HOME CAR TAXES .\nthe government is not to serve it wants the we the people serve the government.\ngovernment uses our taxes for their personal investment and we the people pay for it.\nThe USA government gives bread crumbs to its own citizens, what can other countries expect from it? I still can’t for the life of me understand why we went through a version of this once already and somebody here still keeps wanting more. Why? Why keep aligning with a “President” who seems hellbent on revenge and throwing us all overboard unless you’re at least a millionaire? The kinds of people placed in control right now are the very ones we all have been and should be fighting against still! Rich people have no interest in the issues and problems facing anybody with a net value of less than $1,000,000. We are just pawns for them to use in their pursuit of further wealth!

My daughter went to WestPoint, got top grades in geophysics, did two tours of duty in Iraq. And she changed her gender to male . He isn’t interested in dating anyone, he just wants to do a good job in the reserves. He is a major now….was that all for nothing? Trumps hate and paranoia is ruining this country.

Indians are often very dishonest! We have 1,000,000 Indians here who obtained a visa but then never went back home when their visa expired. They are here illegally and working here illegally. An Indian merchant at a convenience store tried to steal a winning lottery ticket from me a few days ago! Several Indians have gone to prison for stealing lottery tickets from customers including HUGE Multi $Million Dollar WINNERS! \n\nI have had Indian immigrants be rude to me even though I was born in Washington DC and my ancestors have lived here for centuries! \n\nWe are having to actually pass laws here to prevent Indians from discriminating agains their fellow Indians in work and housing due to them being Dalits, or ‘Untouchables’ which proves that Indians coming here have no interest whatsoever in democracy and equality. Indians are coming here solely for economic reasons. They are having babies here to take advantage of, abusing, our birthright citizenship law. \n\nOver 700,000,000 Indians don.t even have access to a toilet and yet your government is spending many $Billions on aircraft carriers and a massive military buildup. Get your priorities straight, build safe toilets first for your people! Indians need to remain in India and Make India Great Again!

Not imploding yet. NO housing crash yet, not even close... Typical governments = Years creating the problems , and years pretending to fix the problems. $....sick. For over 100 years home prices went up and down in price properly, 2, 3, 4 % with inflation, job raises....reasonable, slight increases....sometimes minor decreases... all fair and affordable. Starting around the year 2000, prices started to spike up, 25, 50, 100, 200, 300% while interest rates went to almost 0. Same with rent price increases.....crazy prices over the last 10 years....25, 50, over 100% price increases......Over 20 years of kaos. And now look at the mess you greedy government parasites, unions, bankers have created. Mass immigration, major government growth - spending – debt – control..., super low interest rates, mass immigration = crazy housing, rental prices......poor Canada, what a mess created by all you greedy governments, all political parties.....The only way housing prices get back to where they should be is a crash...bring it on.....the sooner the better. Right now, it’s all grossly overvalued. STOP all immigration NOW. Bring on the crash.

Our Universities are heavily subsidized and Nurses and Doctors take advantage of this, If Trudeau/Pierre wants to stop our doctors and nurses who graduate going to the USA right after school, They should make them pay back the portion of their education that the taxpayers paid for and never received any healthcare from, It should be you have to work in Canada after graduating for 5 years before moving out of Canada, and if they do, then they pay around $150,000 to break the contract compounded with interest from when they started and finished university/college. I know someone who graduated Nursing in the 1990's, She went to a convention in Toronto, Where she was quickly swayed to move the USA, Its because Nursing here is a 3yr course in the USA its a 6 month course, they aren't educated nearly as much as Canadians, A Canadian nurse can be a GP in rural areas of the USA, Also the Nurse I know within a year was made head nurse of her ward, Bypassing USA Nurses that have been working at the hospital for 10+ years, due to the extra education, This is a big problem, we are educating Nurses and Doctors for the USA and other Nations funded by Taxpayers, Sure Nurses and Doctors do also pay some, but its closer to 1/3 of the actual cost, the other 2/3rd's is taxpayer funded. She's still working in the USA and still never helped 1 single Canadian. 30yrs later!!. I don't know about you, But I think this needs to be addressed and fixed once and for all.

And when you don’t have people to do the labor that non of the Americans want to perform; then don’t be complaining that the economy went to shit. The business, farmers and manufacture that voted for Trump without thinking on their own interested they are for an rude awakening. Watch and see.. I can wait for June 20 to see Doni in action..

Honestly reading these comments & watching this video, I am proud to be from the USA... We truly give everyone a chance, everyone is welcome. All languages, colors, religions... it's funny how the media tries to make the U.S. sound racist. It is the most diverse in the world. Europeans love to act like they are supreme.... but in the end they are mostly all Nationalist & racist in their own ways. When I went to school in Germany, it was always funny how people had to make you remember you were American... in the U.S. we don't care.... we celebrate & are interested in your differences.

Disclaimer: Canadian of East Indian Descent here. Went through the pathway of studies-work-residency-citizenship\n\nLet me simplify the story for all of you guys here that lacks immigration intel. \n\n1) The quality of migrants you see here is not what Canada needs long term. It’s not a matter of ethnicity, but Canada needs to import talented and educated folks in medicine, engineering, trades etc. None of these individuals are interested in studying and are either attending 3rd grade colleges/universities to get a work permit and hoped to stay on. \n\n2) Shoddy sales tactics include lying or ‘avoiding stating the obvious’ that could make you lose the deal. This is exactly what the Canadian government did with these people. The Canadian dream was sold somewhat properly before 2017/2018 I would say. Post Covid there was a MASSIVE need of manpower in minimum wage jobs. The government could not afford increasing minimum wage at the time and international students would do exactly those jobs and bring in millions of dollars in tuition fees. The government opened the gates for these strip-mall colleges to take unprecedented numbers of students with allowances to work. These students were sold the exact same dream that a top quality University/college student is sold about Canada. They needed to be used at the time. And if they would’ve been told that their quality of students are only needed temporarily, they wouldn’t have come. The labour shortage at the time wouldn’t have been solved. So a CATCH 22 of the highest order. \n\n3) Canada CANNOT give in to such protests as it will set the worst example of migrant pandering for future generations. The best talent will refrain from entering Canada and more and more of these types of immigrants who do not want to assimilate to the Canadian culture will want to keep on coming.

There are over 1,000,000 Indians here in America who came here on a tourist or student visa who never went back home once their visa expired. They are living here illegally. Thousands of Indians are flooding across our Southern border into the U.S. They then claim they are persecuted back home in the world’s biggest democracy and apply for political asylum. This is all very dishonest! Indians are coming here for economic reasons. And they have no interest in our American way of life here of freedom and equality. Proof of this is that we are having to pass new laws to prevent Indians from discriminating against their own fellow Indians! Higher caste Indians here are discriminating against the Dalits or so called ‘Untouchables’ who are also here. \n\nStay home! Make India a better place instead of flocking over to the USA and bringing all of your bad habits over here with you! Over 700,000,000 Indians don’t even have access to a toilet! I’ve been to India many times so I know all about the real India! Remain there in India and tackle this huge problem. Demand your government stop spending $Billions on new aircraft carriers and other military equipment and build new toilets for your own citizens instead so women and girls feel safe when they need to relieve themselves and so India won’t be so filthy and smelly! Open defacation is very unsanitary! Unhealthy!

I went to Germany for my Masters at one of their top universities, back then (10 years ago) taken in by their great public image and a personal interest in Germany history and culture. Looking back now having also experienced living in the UK, HK and Sweden thereafter, I can understand why Germany has trouble attracting the top talents, or any ambitious individuals seeking to develop their career overseas.\n\nIt doesn't provide the money.\nIt doesn't provide a dynamic enough market and opportunities.\nIt doesn't provide the same type of diversity and excitement in truly world-class cities like London, HK etc. Don't get me started on food.\nEverything is functional but that seems to be the sole standard to aspire to. \nGermans are not the people whom you can bond easily. Sincere and friendly many are, but the amount of effort needed to even crack beyond that shell is ridiculous. In this respect I think most north europeans are quite cold and distant. But working with Germans you need to also handle their 'honesty', intensity and directness on top of that. The lack of nuance rubs a lot of people in the wrong way. \n\nThe Germans whom I met and spent their formative years overseas are fantastic. Invariably none of them would have thought of moving back.

You make the life of a digital nomad and you consciously choose to have no roots. Canada is a very diverse place. It very probably do not worth living in sythern Ontrio ad in the Vancouver area. But there is plenty of other places in Canada much more affordable and interesting. Me coming from Québec and iving there make me think that you could have choose to come to live here and intergrate yourself into our society. Take for example the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean where i come from more precisely. I guees you never went there. And believe me this in another country in comparison with Vancouver and the whole of southern Ontario. In my mind you should choose to setlle and make babies. This being done you could still live in the nomadic world to a cetain point and be into the digital world.

11:10 absolute rubbish. It has everything to do with population growth. Rates have had in inversely proportional relationship (globally) to asset prices right up until western gov's flooded their countries with immigrants to artificially create demand - this is why prices went up with rates. This is a realestate scam by the incumbent gov to buy boomer votes (being the largest voting demographic), period. If there was ANY INTEREST AT ALL to be 'prosperous' gov's would be inline with monetary policy by the central banks and attempting to deleverage. Instead, fiscal policy is selling the next couple of generations down the river.

Context:\n\nAround a year or two ago driving back home with some friends after visiting Niagara Falls, we were pulled over because my car’s headlights were off. I didn’t stop immediately when they turned their police lights on because I didn’t think I did anything wrong but did eventually pull over after realizing they were indeed trying to pull me over. \n\nAfter I pulled over, two officers quickly got out and one of them rushed to my passenger side mirror and very aggressively yelled at me, “why didn’t you pull over” etc. I was very surprised by his reaction and quickly explained that I was a fairly new driver (about 6 months of driving experience at the time). He went away for a few seconds to cool off and later apologized for his behavior (very respectable).\n\nMain Focus:\n\nNow, the interesting part is while the officer was cooling off, the other officer wanted not just my ID but everyone else’s’ in my car as well. I still to this day do not think that is normal, however, I haven’t been pulled over enough to confirm that. Anyways, some of my friends didn’t have officials IDs on them but they did have their student ID. The police wanted that as well. They took a long time to what I assume, conduct a very thorough check on everyone’s ID, making sure nothing is suspicious and everyone is from America. The whole encounter had to be around 20 to 30 minutes long, it was very very long. \n\nTakeaway:\n\nFrom what I experienced that day, I strongly believe that people were at least crossing the northern border around 1 year ago and most likely even earlier. There are bus services that go straight to NYC from Buffalo which is right across the border from Canada to the US. However, I’m not sure if you need ID to use those services. \n\nFor those who read this comment, use this information however you will, I hope it helps even just a little in making some sort of change. \n\nHopefully, there won’t be an increase on how long it takes me to get past border patrol to Canada and back ?. I also hope that our taxes decrease because too much of it are being payed for services to aliens when some of our locals are still stuck in the streets.

I was born BC, Canada 40 years ago. In my 31 years of working, the minimum/general hourly wage has gone from $7 to $17/hour. In my 24 years of renting, a one bedroom apartment went from between $500-$600/month to $1700+/month if you're lucky. Most businesses make too little to pay a living wage and governments make too much off of people trying to get rid of questionably gained money to care about the lives/best interests of the average person.

Our education systems from kindergarten through to postsecondary education and spending it on the Canadians that were here. We've turned our post-secondary institutions in Canada into diploma Mills where you know your VA and your you know postgraduate degrees or you know they're worthless. However the government and the education system grew into a very profitable industry grinding out worthless degree after worthless degree for foreign students who thought when they got these degrees with 50% of Canadians have. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately. \n \nDuring the COVID lockdowns, many people went wild wanting to buy a house (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. \n \nSimultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) around 400 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED too. In 2023, averaging around 2,000 per day across Canada. Years 2021 and 2022 had high #s too. \n \nThe majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Plus neighborhoods now know that international students are using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To many Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. And for any greedy people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're hurting students. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). \n \nNot all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud, false asylum claims. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The new PRIVATE (non-public) colleges are being investigated (including looking for strong oversea ties). \n \nCanadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $, but it turns out they borrowed it (some borrowed it for the application process only). Canadian food banks and other CHARITY services have been recklessly advertised on YouTube (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes registered in your name are now never replaced (unlike before). \n \nThen this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion mostly happening in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians). \n \nCanadians are so so so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). \n \nCanadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). This story is misleading and the Title is completely false. Canada's Student population doubled in 3 years and Canada went from 7th highest Foreign Student Population per capita to 2nd, so the Canadian Student housing situation worsened quickly. So the Trudeau Government put a cap on Foreign Students and offered low interest loans to Universities to immediately expand Student housing. Canada has seen NO drop in citizen applications and still refuses far more applications then it approves. So with even Canada's low birth rate still combined with immigration Canada's population is the fastest growing per capita of Western Democracies at an annual population increase of over 1 million people a year. So the Headline about Citizen applications which had nothing to do with the story of Foreign Students.\nAlso I want to add they stated that the gentleman had set up a business to bring home students from Canada when in the interview he stated that Canada was only one of the Countries but stating it the true way is less dramatic and doesnt fit their Narrative. You should tell us how many Indian immigrants actually went back to India . Not many . I have seen 20% interest rate here and you think 5% interest rate is high . Indian community is the richest immigrant community in North America . People move to United States and move back to Canada which is normal . 17.5% left Canada but 82.5% are still here , what does that tell you ? There is housing shortage and that will be solved in time . A lot of these problems are caused due to covid shutdown and excessive immigrants coming from India . Question should be asked why so many leaving India ? In 2021 and 2022 , about 900000 Indian immigrants came to Canada and 2023 will likely be close to half a million . I was a gay kid who ran away to Toronto in 1982, age 17. Minimum wage was $4/hr and a bachelor at Church and Charles was $350, a one bedroom was $400 - $425. I had a relatively successful career as a pianist/entertainer and teacher at the Y. I was never able to purchase, but rented as the real estate prices only lept and bounded as interest rates on savings declined. I can no longer afford to live in TO, but bought a 100 acre farm in Parry Sound District by cutting a cheque. I have no community... and my cohort as all approaching 60... but the Toronto of the 80's and 90's no longer exists. The discos are gone, the kids today have no appreciation of ACT or Casey House or the hell we went through. But, the virus is controlled... I am rambling, but the city is no longer a place where young disenfranchised can go to be free to exist and be themselves. I worry about the kids of today who will never have enough money to leave home and go to where life can happen. And don't tell me that a cell phone is a replacement for a physical, real existence!!

I was born and raised in Toronto. I have no family inheritance to give me a jump start. I make good money (middle upper class) but I’m still struggling financially. Not because I spend like crazy or anything, but because taxes are crazy and everything is so expensive. And now with the high interest rates, my monthly expenses went up $4000+ for no reason. Just based on interest rates. I had a pho lunch for 2 last week and it was freaking $70! Crimes are increasing like crazy and the government keeps having talks of handing out money when we are in so much debt. Seriously the government right now is discouraging talented hard working ppl and encouraging lazy leeches to keep being lazy. Our healthcare is also a joke. Doctors know nothing and are only there to write prescriptions. The amount of people I know that was misdiagnosed for conditions so obvious that any 10 year old can figure out by googling their symptoms is ridiculous. \n\nBeing a Toronto native I really hate seeing the city/country crumble like this. I am starting to question if sticking around is the right choice. But I’m so established and embedded here I don’t know how to uproot everything and move elsewhere. Its interesting that as soon as the US government decided that monopolies where great, things started to fall apart here too. Housing prices are out of control, and homelessness is increasing - along with laws victimizing homeless people. Its like the people who run these companies are mentally ill. They want customers and employees, but they do everything they can to destroy or drive away everyone who could become a customer or employee.\n\nI was lucky to buy something before housing prices went insane. But now there's no way to move anymore because renting is too expensive, and investors just out bid everyone and drive up the prices. I really prefer renting, and I used to always move to be near my current job. But for my next job I would have to waste 15 hours a week to drive to a job I could do just as well at home. If I didn't have family here, I would leave.

you forgot , apartment renters now started charging utilities on top of rent. the gross greed of property owners is astonishing. and dont confuse these renters with property investors who's interest rates went up, oh no, these apartment building owners have their mortgages paid off decades ago, they are just riding the gravy train.

Housing costs,inflation are not just a Canadian issue. I am old enough to remember when interest rates went through the roof in the 80's and people lost their homes, and jobs were hard to come by including for my family. But things got better and they will again. Thanks for the interesting (but not surprising) video. Toronto and Vancouver have both turned into congested crime-ridden dumps. I heard a story a couple of weeks ago from a guy who went to a meeting in Toronto: out of no-where, he got physically attacked on Young St. as he was leaving for the airport. Thankfully, passers-by pullled the crazed nutcase off of him and he continued to the airport -- albeit bruised and shaken up. I used to like spending time in Toronto and Vancouver: these days, they're both good places to stay away from.

Most Western cities have the same story, make no sense for a city to make itself unaffordable but they all seem to do so. I did a number of roadtrips from my base in Bulgaria this year to Macedonia, Serbia and Romania and all the cities we went are affordable and not struggling, Brasov, Orsova, Zajecar, Nis, Prilep, Samakov, Smolyan, Devin and more, its not Utopia but its safe, affordable, interesting, nice weather, andd 'refugee' free.

I can't talk from a point of experience in Canada but from a point of experience in Kenya. Yes things are tough everywhere but I believe things are tuffer here in Kenya, well unless you have a good job, good business or money to invest. If you work 14 hours per \nDay which I believe possible you have about uko na 20k in ksh, pay tax of maybe 30% combined you have about 130 cad per day work for 25 days in a month you will have about 3250 net stay in most affordable place(hujaenda raha) you can get 1250 in low cost province (not Ontario or BC though here minimum wage iko juu), groceries and expenses budget 1000 per month you can save about 100k ksh pm, save in Cad for few years stay like a student on the budget but work like a donkey. Come back home in few years lets say 5 with save coins probably CAD will trading at 150 coz the hit shilling is taking mind-blowing. Hi Lynn, this is a very interesting conversation. I moved to Canada in 2003 went to college and became a nurse. First of all it was not easy paying for college I was lucky that husband was supporting with the bills as I went to school. So I would say that I have skills that are very marketable. Our combined family income was over $100,000 CAN. We mortgaged our first home which was very basic for a LOT of money. We had our kids and we had to struggle with childcare as most young families do. By North American standard, we were doing good. We each had a good car ( loaned), we made trips to Kenya every so often but in 2016 we decided we wanted to move back home and we sold our home and we did. I HAVE NO REGRETS. There were several things that made us reach our decision. First, I truly believe that for the Canadian system to work as it does, it has to entrap its residents. Even after 10 years of work we did not have money in the bank. Everything we owned really belonged to the bank. The light bulb moment for me came when I evaluated my net worth. A primary school teacher in Kenya after 10 years of work with good financial management will own a plot, a simple house and will start to invest for retirement. After 10 years of work, there wasn't much in the account, our house would need 25 years to finish paying mortgage and to be honest there wasn't much to show for those years of work. Quality of life really sucks the amount of stress will definitely send you to the grave sooner. This is the case for most first generation immigrants. You might say you are sacrificing and building a future for your children but, my observation was since our diaspora children have not grown in Kenya to see the need for money and what life really looks like without the comforts they are used to, they do not have the same drive as the parents so they often do not excel they are just ordinary. There is also the struggle of growing up as a minority group. A lot of our children because they are seeking acceptance will struggle with self esteem, will have depression or will join the LGBTQ community where they get sense of belonging regardless of their colour. The morals are also different from their parents and they are shaped by the society they grow up in. When I looked at what my life would look like if we kept living there, lets say we eventually pay off our mortgage, when we are old and requiring care, our children will not be able to support themselves and support us because they have to work to sustain themselves so we would to move to assisted living or nursing homes. The cost of senior care is not covered by the government unless you have no money. so we have to sell out home which would be old and outdated but still very expensive and we would have to pay $5000-$10000 per month depending on the type of care we need. so as you can see if we ended in a nursing home for 5 years we will have depleted all the money we made from the sale of our home. So by the time we die, we would not have money to leave for our children. So we worked really hard, supported the economy, and die leaving not much at all for our children, we sacrificed our quality of life, and ended up with children who don't think much of themselves or have very distorted morals. I still remember in my mind as we drove to the airport on our way back to Kenya, I thought of the story of Lot. He was pretty successful in Sodom but I'm very sure on his death bed he had lots of regrets why he ever went there. I know its tough being in Kenya but if you have a job or any way to make ends meet, be like Abraham. God will bless you regardless of whether you are in the dessert.

You are very lucky to be so gorgeous and able to work/model/get sponsors to pay for your lifestyle, and not have to live in Canada. Canada as a whole, the Western capitalistic society, as a whole as become extremely greedy. The interest rates in the Western countries went down to almost 0%, causing all the capitalists to borrow this free-money and gobbled up all the real estate, and they now dictate the rental market. Corporations as well as individuals who bought real estate before 2010 used their equity and got into the real estate flip-game and ABNB, and they are all rich. And yet they still gouge renters because they can. I would also leave Canada. But I am stuck here because I am poor. Canada/Toronto will not change. Once you're used to eating filet mignon, you will never settle for meat loaf. These landlords will never lower their rents as long as they hold all the cards. 10 years from now, Canada's birth rate will be negative because people who pay $700,000 for 500sq ft condos do not have kids. Nor can they afford them.

Consumer borrow to buy property instead of using it for business \n- Long run no new business > Low job count available > Low Canada GDP \n- Due to Tax structure in Canada, most start up gets acquired by U.S or Foreign countries \n- Better pay in U.S, so by cross border you earn 33% more \n- Low R&R in canada , low capital invested into workers > low value yield per hour for workers \n- Competitiveness Index rank 14 = Low productive compared to smaller countries like Singapore (Rank 3) \n- Rank 11 in talent citizen but too bad most went to U.S instead. Earn 33% more.

I like it here….mMy friend s are snow birds Canada in summer and winter in the US…our health care is good…have to have good people there…yes health coverage is important …we had violence in school shooting also….would like to visit and see the place sometimes..only went once over the border..interesting video
