In addition, US automotive industries like stellantis are moving productions back to the US from Canada. Canada has been charging the US dairy products 250% in tariffs, US Bourbon and whiskey 180% for over 4 years. China has been charging Ford 200% tariff so much so that ford can no longer afford to sell their vehicles in China.....all these outrageously high tariffs were designed to protect their domestic products.... China was suposed to spend 4 billion dollars a year in US goods but they have been consistently spending only 1.9 billion each year . Trade deficit of over 2 billion dollars. What sane person would allow this to happen in a free market and call this fair trades????? I have no knowledge of this until recently.

This has nothing to do with Canada or the Canadian people. This is a pure transactional move because that is how Trump sees things. I'm a born Canadian and i'm BAFFLED at how you would turn around and impose tariffs on your closest ally. Canada and the US had a relationship that was built on trust co-operation and trillions of dollars and it means nothing to their current president. I used to be a fan of Trump, but the recent situation with Zelensky along with the tariffs i can see more and more that having him back in office was a huge mistake. My capital gains on investments is around 15%. I get free health care (which while obviously not free - is paid out of my taxes, yet isn't rationed or in-network restrictions, doesn't have copays and cover 90% of my medical needs). I have a government that even at its worst, is orders of magnitude more rational and public serving than the US (and god help you if Trump gets back in). Health care in the USA is a racket, and people are taught by Republicans that it is folly to care for other people, they don't, Trump doesn't, why would you? In European Union, health care insurance premiums are about US$ 150 per person and it covers everything while our health care is the same or better than in the USA, except for the UK where health care has caved in thanks to Brexit where they sent 93.000 nurses, doctors, dentists, and paramedics packing because they were not born on English soil.
