Trump is serious about making Canada a US state....these are the opening moves to take it over. Beat it down severely economically, weaken it, get internal strife escalated, move in to 'save it' IMO.

His justification for his tariff fantasy is the trade of fentinyl across the border and the flow of illegal immigrants to the U.S. As Trudeau has stated, paraphrasing a well known and respected publication, the Wall Street Journal, that this is a very DUMB move! That is an understatement. This is clearly not about drugs or illegal immigrants, it never was. Trump is supposed to be smart? This latest revelation proves otherwise. Just look at how they treated Zelensky during his last visit to the oval office. That showed a complete lack of respect! I fear we are in for a dismal for years!

What Trump is doing is collecting money from these tariffs, while at the same time bringing certain industries back to the United States. These tariffs will not be permanent but will remain for a certain period to encourage companies to relocate. He runs his country like a business, he doesn’t care if there are job losses elsewhere.\n\nCanada and Mexico will have to adjust and start becoming less dependent on the United States. It will be difficult for Canada because we are a consumer country, we manufacture almost nothing. TSMC is moving to the U.S., his plan is working, and other companies will follow.\n\nHere in Canada, we import a huge amount of American products. We absolutely need to change our habits, we should not support a country that wants to see us fail.

I live in this godforsaken joke of a country and I've been unemployed for OVER TWO YEARS despite having a degree, 5y experience, and a willingness to move literally anywhere for work. The economy is DEAD. We are SCREWED. Annexation is unironically the only way I see that we can get out of this unless we want to turn into a failed state.

Trudeau does not represent Canadians. He has had a minority government for years. Trudeau was finally forced to resign months ago. He should not be speaking on our behalf. He suspended parliament and refuses to call an election. No decision / agreement can be made re. Tariffs, etc. because technically we have no leadership right now. Tariffs have been threaten for months, and the Liberals have made no moves to do what’s right for Canada. He is using this as an opportunity to regqin power. He is not a man of the people.

As a Canadian citizen I have always admired the US up until now, I sincerely wanted to move to the US to build homes and start up a company. But now am re-evaluating my decision because if this how the US treats their friends and allies, I really feel sad for their enemies. Both countries benefited from having a good relationship and now the great US has no one willing to challenge Mr Trump on this idiotic move, America is alienating themselves from a lot of countries and regular Americans are the ones who are going to suffer from this fall-out, the rich won't be affected but regular working class folks your stress is going to get a whole lot worse and that's unfortunate. Hopefully US wises up sooner rather than later and stop blaming immigration for their problems it's poor governing and politicians that have us looking at each other as enemies rather than humans with the same struggle and issues. They have money to send annually overseas but none to improve the life of their citizens in need, that should tell you something. People that don't look like you aren't your enemies, people who try to harm you, undermine you are your enemies. People are just searching for a better life that's all, the most basic thing humans have in common, change the red tape a make things more structured and rid your country of the bad apples and welcome those willing to work, build and serve God and the country. It would have been better to call the move “ill-advised”. Referring to POTUS by first name and saying it was “dumb” is just going to provoke DJT who everyone, fans and critics alike, knows is vain and does not have the humility to accept insults. President Trump doesn't care. The US has been subsidizing Canada's electrical grid for over $250 million dollars a year. Canada will loose that. In addition, US automotive industries like stellantis are moving productions back to the US from Canada. Canada has been charging the US dairy products 250% in tariffs, US Bourbon and whiskey 180% for over 4 years. China has been charging Ford 200% tariff so much so that ford can no longer afford to sell their vehicles in China.....all these outrageously high tariffs were designed to protect their domestic products.... China was suposed to spend 4 billion dollars a year in US goods but they have been consistently spending only 1.9 billion each year . Trade deficit of over 2 billion dollars. What sane person would allow this to happen in a free market and call this fair trades????? I have no knowledge of this until recently.

Every country should be responsible for their own goods. The day we start relying on other countries for what we need we're in a heck of a mess. Because China couldn't get our merchandise to our plant we had to shut down for almost a month. We messed up sending some of our work to China. After this we got everything in the US. Cheaper prices are not the solution. Cheaper labor is not the answer. Trump is concerned about the drugs coming into our country and since the borders are affected these drugs will be coming into our country many other ways. You know where criminals go to get out of the US. Canada. Trump is doing this for our country and you can bet on this. I'm sick of drugs in our country killing people everyday. I'm sick of guns but just about every household owns guns. Children are killed in their own homes with guns. Who cares about alcohol being sold in their state. Honestly. People are homeless because of addiction to alcohol. Yeah saying president Trump using fentanyl for this for this trade war was a bad move.
