Alberta cannot legally or constitutionally separate from Canada without the consent of First Nations, whose treaty rights and land titles predate the province's existence. Indigenous leaders consider unilateral separation unconstitutional and a violation of Treaty 8, with many challenging separation

First of all why is she asking people this? As a leader she should know the issues, and have the answers. Obviously she does not know, and should not be the leader/Premier. So she wants to wait another year to have a survey, and then start working on things? That sounds insane to me. With $60 oil, Danielle states Alberta's debt will skyrocket. Oil is heading to $40 per barrel. That's $50 billion dollars more debt PER YEAR than in 2024. When you add on the costs to finance that , you are looking at maybe $70 Billion deficit per year very soon. That is unstainable for such a small population. Then the separatists want to ad at least a trillion dollar loan, to leave Canada and service that debt. Where is all this massive wealth the separatist spew? Then she wants to wait another year for the people to tell her what to do about it. She is totally insane. Danielle, the worst Premiere in Alberta's history. Another survey, and another year wasted while nothing get's done? Please stop blaming everyone else for Alberta's problems. It is getting tiring. Danielle never says much that is correct. Like her ridiculous CPP rebate cheque. The way she calculated that was totally insane. Today she stated Ai would save Alberta's economy. She may not know it but Ai makes almost no jobs. It also needs massive energy and a good power grid, and Alberta's is ancient. That's why she is just a small time TV show host. Alberta's problems is as always, due to a bad Premiere, and she is the worst of them all. Dec 2025 Employment Insurance Recipients 67,520 UP 21.9% y/y Q3 2025 Net Migration 5,849 Down -86.2% y/y Dec 2025 International Merchandise Exports $15.6B Down -7.4% y/y Where do you see this massive wealth with $40 oil on it's way? Danielle states every 1 dollar the oil goes down equals a Billon dollar deficit. Rath uses $90 per barrel for his insane figures. 2025 prices averaged in high 60's. In the mid 50's now, and almost every oil agency in the world states it will settle around $40. If you add 20 or $30 billion more debt to Alberta's deficit per year, Alberta will die a very fast death. Add on a one trillion dollar loan, and the other costs to pay out Canada. Then add on all the new federal costs Alberta will have to assume. LNG will be over as BC/Canada will never let Alberta use it's plants, ports, and infrastructure to compete with themselves. If Canada does let a a new Alberta use it's existing pipelines, of course they will not subsidize them any more. They will expect to make a profit from them. So let's say they add on $5.00 more per barrel. Using Danielle's math that would add another $5 Billion annually to Alberta's skyrocketing debt every year. Can you explain to me where all this massive wealth that Rath and Wilson preach? Of course there are many other issues like business/jobs leaving. Equalization payments are not really and issue as oil plummets, especially with no LNG Equalization is based on high earnings, as Albertans make more money than everywhere else. If there are no jobs, Alberta may again start to get payments back even. Trump thinks Alberta oil will be good for USA reserves so he can just shut that down for 100 years, so what will that do to Alberta jobs , and deficit. If you ask people how they feel about Rath and Wilson begging for a trillion dollar loan...secured by Alberta's resources... "just to get started" , I wonder what they will say. She thinks Ai will save Alberta LOL AI needs massive cheap energy, and an up to date power grid.. Not strong points for Alberta with an ancient power grid. Ai also produces no jobs. Given the shape of Alberta, thanks to Danielle, I don't think equalization payments will be an issue, going forward. With $40 oil on it's way, Alberta may start getting payments. LNG will be over as BC/Canada will never let Alberta use it's plants, ports, and infrastructure to compete with themselves. If Canada does let a a new Alberta use it's existing pipelines, of course they will not subsidize them any more. They will expect to make a profit from them. Why such a small reduction? WE NEED TO STOP IMMIGRANTS POURING INTO CANADA NOW. THERE ARE WAY, WAY TOO MANY HERE

Im Canadian, I cant think of a reason I would be in the states for more then 30 days, but if so, I have no problem with this as we should be doing this in Canada as well. Too many criminals!

For the leaders of free countries, such as Mr. Trump and leaders of the European Union, England, Canada, Australia, including those of Central America and South America, Mexico is a country adrift here an average of 80 people are murdered daily and women disappear and we do not really know how many there are, the government led by Claudia Sheinbaum, manufactures reality every day, all Mexicans know that they allied themselves with the cartels, the national guard and the armed forces only act or are trained for when the time comes for a total COMMUNIST coup, please do not believe in the Mexican government anymore, they are people with Hate and fanatics of a very cruel Satanic Communism.

Trump is doing all these crazy things but he is forgetting one HUGE thing. Canada & many other countries are Allies of America & while he's talking about tariffs & goodness knows what (I did watch his talk in Congress), at least respect your Allies. Trump is sleeping with the enemy & in all my years, I've never seen an American President turn on their Allies like this. He is a dangerous man for all the wrong reasons. I feel badly for the American people whom will be stuck between a rock & a hard place. I feel for the Canadian's whom don't deserve this. Trudeau speaks so genuinely & politely where Trump yells 'this is the way things will be'. \nI don't look forward to the next 4 years & many in my country (Australia) have said they won't even go to America while Trump is in Office. We have always loved Canada. We 'gather at Whistler' then go travel. Great country. Much love from your Aussie mates ❤❤

Greetings from Lithuania. Great speech. While Canada has so many natural resources it is stupid for USA to go into trade war. We support Canada!
2025-03-05 0
Many years ago, Trudeau helped the Trump administration to backlog Ms. Meng Wanzhou, the daughter of Huawei's CEO. Now Trump wants to increase tariffs on Canada. This was just a few months ago. After Trudeau visited Trump, Trudeau was really embarrassed. No wonder Xi Jinping said Trudeau was very naive. It seems that there is a reason.??
2025-03-05 0
I believe Canada and Mexico will fold and play chicken. Trudeau's appeals to US voters showed Canada lacks courage. On TV, Trump saw many Canadian leaders squirming and making threats. Look at China - Xi stayed silent and implement counter measures.

Gee…what a surprise! ….NOT! \nThe most toxic person in the world who LOVES to create chaos & division has stirred up a bees nest in countries all around the world. That’s what Trump does. Chaos, division, hard feelings & bitterness are his forté. \nThat’s the leader America has chosen over someone with common sense, intelligence, & who would have tried to unite the American ppl & create an economy that would be stable & help the majority of Americans because Kamala IS like the majority of Americans. She understands the struggle of trying to making a living when you’re not born into wealth like Trump was.\nHe can’t relate to the struggles of the average American family trying to earn enough to provide for their families. He’s never known that struggle. \nAnd why should he care if he causes ppl on both sides of the border to lose jobs, & consequently lose their homes? He’s rich. He can afford the higher costs of everything in both countries that he is initiating. He chose this trade war because he wants to take over Canada. \nWhat is wrong with Americans who thought voting him in AGAIN was a great idea over the common sense & economic stability Kamala Harris offered? He TOLD you he was going to do this. \nYou ppl who voted for him KNEW his past history. He’s a proven liar, a cheat, a fraud, a scammer, a sexist, a predator of vulnerable women, & a convicted felon..\nAnd more than anything else, he’s a BULLY! He uses his words with his bull horn & public media to speak against anyone who opposes him to try to subtly motivate his MAGA hounds to attack the ppl & their families that actually tell the truth about him. And then he steps aside & waits for his minions to respond & acts totally innocent as if he is not responsible because he did not directly tell them to go after the ppl he very purposely speaks hostile about. WAKE UP! He IS responsible because he knows very well his words have power to influence ppl to take action. \nAnd too many cowards in the Supreme Court & Republican party including his own VP Mike Pence were all too afraid to speak up against him. \nIf the majority of Americans want such a toxic person for leader, that’s America’s poor choice but Canada wants NO PART in his BS.\nHands off Canada because we WILL stand united & will support our governments efforts & the efforts of other Canadians to withstand against Trump’s bullying tactics.\nBUY CANADIAN!

I’m embarrassed living in the country. Still proud to be in America, it’s just disgusting to see what is going on. All of us do not agree with this and many other terrible things that are going on. I stand with Canada. This current US administration is a disgrace.
2025-03-05 0
This is a leader. The Trump agenda is the hostile take over of Canada on the basis of oligarg rule. This is a first step. It won't work. Canada has many trade partners. It's new investments on its security will work against the US.

I am somewhat astounded by many of the comments on here. Have people already forgotten about Trudeau's tyrannical behaviour throughout the 'Convid' years and the attempted destruction of the farming industry through constant bullying. I suspect that Prime Minister Trudeau is merely protecting his own interests and not that of the citizens of Canada.

Why is it US truckers can only deliver goods loaded in the US to Canada or Mexico? Why is it a driver can take goods loaded in Canada or Mexico and deliver them at multiple points throughout the United States? Why did American truckers support Canadian truckers when Peter Pan Trudeau was jailing Canadians for honking their horns? Why is it American has beens and generals turned media stars always know what's best for the whole damned world when they haven't lived as a ciilian for thirty or forty years? Why is it when there is no war dumb asses all over the world want to start one? Why didn't Europe listen when they were being warned forty years ago to strengthen their NATO members military? How many armed Russian tanks that squared off against American tanks in Berlin in 1961 were made and manufactured in Ukraine? Why is it it's always so hard for lefty socialists claiming to be democrats refuse to accept the change from their worldly liberal socialist big government ideals to a smaller more conservative governent posture around the world? Why do........................................

Hold on there, boy, questionable, immigration policies. Both Canada and the United States were built on immigration, unless you are part of the first nations these types of inflammatory statements, are historically illogical. Countries like the United States of America, Canada, and Australia, New Zealand, and many parts of South America all grew with immigration. People in these countries that have been around a generation or more who decide to pull up the ladder have short memories from where they came. Regarding housing, it is always been and issue in many places and is affected by foreign investors and interest rates. Usually at some point there is a correction, some people win some people lose.

Trump has destroyed trust in US allies, and it can ont be repaired easy. Trust can be destroyed in minutes, but it takes many years, maybe decades, before it can be gained again. It affects not only what US experiences right now with Canada and Mexico. Be sure that even Taiwan Australia and all other Asian allies are questioning right now if USA can be trusted. Imagine, Trumps breaks a treaty with Canada and Mexico which he personally has established in his first presidency and sold to his people as the greatest deal that has ever been archieved. Tells you a lot about US credebility. Trump is right now destroing world order which has been established mainly by USA after WW2.\nI heared, that there are rumors, that Trump might be a Russian KGB agent since 1987. I don't know if that is true, but it would explain a lot of why Trump is acting as he does - it is not in the interest of USA, pressurizing/blackmailing/offending/humiliating US allies and destroying US and foreign economies. This is practically enacting a wishlist of foreign dictators like Putin and Xi Chin Ping.\nIt certainly will not make America great again, but poorer, weaker and internationally isolated. it will be US people that will suffer the most.

Hey Canada, Californian here. Sorry my dumb fellow americans voted for this A hole.\n\nWe're gonna be okay, in 4 years. If he extends his presidency beyond that, i have a plan for that along with many others. Wish us luck

trudeau is proven a back stabber in many diplomacy. canada is never a fair country but slave to US master. They obey all US demands even has fake democracy. Under US order, canada imprisoned or held anyone who are innocent and has nothing against canadian law. trudeau isnt polite but too rude with calling other murderous dictator when he is also a real proven dictator. Has he forgotten canada has murdered, colonize, terrorize, destroy, plunder, rob, bullt, gangster other countries too with US master. Shame on trudeau incompetence and still talk rubbish till today.

Czech Republic ?? stands with Canada! And admire how you all deal with this. What a great speach of a real gentleman. “We are polite but we will not back down from a fight” - what a line! “Donald” has an utterly twisted mind and am so glad so many Americans know it.\nThe way how he and his pet Vance treat Ukraine is sick on the whole other level.

As a Brit... I've been to Canada many times (the first time as a soldier in 1981) and of late in the likes of BC, I've fished there. Love, love, love Canada and the Canadians. I've been to America too, and I love it there also. And while I'm not always a good judge of people...I flatter myself I'm a VERY good judge of character. And oh man, have they ever got it wrong with this Trump fella. Now there's a bloke I would not like to find myself in a combat situation since he'd likely shoot me in the back and run the other way. I just find myself asking how on earth it has come to this. How can they possibly think that a person such as this is a fit bloke to lead their country. Hitler? Don't talk to me about Hitler America. Honestly, it would make you want to weep...
2025-03-05 0
As a Republican... I agree with many things our country needs, like tougher border security and a crackdown on the government. I do not agree with tariffs to Canada, especially them. They have always stood side by side with us. The American taxpayers will pay the tariffs. Globalization is to limit our opportunities. Trump needs to think it through.

Trudeau has had his share of critics during his tenure. But he's always had Canada and its' people in his best interest. While he was forced to resigned as many members of this cabinet was losing faith in him, this is his last week in office with nothing to lose. During these past few weeks, he has been a true champion by rallying the whole country and uniting us closer than I've ever seen. This speech was exactly what we Canadians all feel. Mic Drop! Thanks for the heartfelt comments from around the world.

How many times can an anchor say wolf in five minutes? Btw even my fireplace log has “made in USA with a wrapper from Canada”.

I almost completely support everything he says. My problem comes with his comments on Fentanyl. Please, this medication is a game changer for so many suffering daily in agony with chronic pain or deadly conditions. For those who need it medically, it is strictly controlled and monitored. Fentanyl is “eaten” by pain, so for those who need it there is no high, just relief.\nThose on it legally already have to deal with a great amount of prejudice, being treated as addicts and dealers when they are just trying to find a way to survive immense pain everyday. This medication allows them to get out of bed, to attend school or work, to have a life. It gives them hope and relief. \nThe opioid crisis is real, but those on a prescription are not the cause. Canada already has some of the strictest protocols in the world for this medication, leaving many people in agony as they loose access to it. \nDon’t take away something that is saving them. The drug is not wrong, those selling it illegally are in the wrong.

The real reason US put tariffs on Canada: \n\nCanada has zero nukes- so they have zero deterrence. The USA has 3,748 nukes. \nCanada has zero aircraft carriers. The USA has 11 nuclear aircraft carriers. The entire rest of the world has 16, but only one is nuclear. \nCanada has zero destroyers! The USA has 65 Top Tier destroyers. \nCanada has only 85 operational fighter jets, but they are outdated and scheduled to be replaced. The USA has 2,740 with 786 being the latest Gen. \nCanada has 82 Leopard 2 tanks and only some are third Gen. The US has 8,100 tanks and they are all third Gen. \n2.3 million Canadians own 12 million guns, but many are low caliber and low use/capable. Canadians privately hold about 2.3 Billion rounds of ammo, but most is smaller caliber hunting rounds. \n81 million Americans own about 400 Million guns with extensive capabilities and usability, including permitted full automatic. The storehouse of privately held ammo is massive in the range of 2 to 25 trillion rounds. \n40% of Americans are raised in a gun culture and develop and hone their weapon use skills for a lifetime. 22% of Canadians have a similar gun culture. \n \nCanada has gotten away with having a weak military and saving enormous costs by not having to produce or buy military equipment. \n\nThe USA has never charged a fee for providing deterrence to potential enemies, and in fact pays Canada on a massive trade deficit instead. Canada exacerbates their precarious situation, by continuing to take guns away from their population.

I want this trade war, and I want Trudeau gone. I am from Canada. \nSo many people do not know about his government and the damage they caused.\nFacts little then 1% get scanned at ports. Canada does not screen airflights enough. \nAlso, Trudeau did not close the air down from covid to safe borders.\nTrudeau is lucky he is not behind bars the scandals he got away with is insane.

Hello Canada from Denmark. I am sad to see the unfair way the US is treating your country, and I am sure it will soon come to Europe too. But it will also hurt the Americans, that is for sure. It is sad because many of us have always been pro-America. But it should not be like that anymore, and believe me it will get worse. The Americans have elected a mad man with no scruples to dictate their country and we must find others to do business with instead, because it is too dangerous that America has all that power

I'm ashamed to say that our president is an absolute traitor to our allies and to its people. Somehow his cult followers were able to get him back into office instead of prison. Now all of us are having to suffer please do not lose faith we will figure out a way to get rid of the Trump regime once and for all as well as Elon Musk were so sorry about what they've done there will be payback for them for many levels just know that the United States people love Canada always have always will one of our greatest allies and our good neighbor. Sorry about Donald Trump he's a prick

As an American, I am ashamed and appalled. Please, Canada, please, know that many stand with you and support boycotts of the US.

Many thanks to Trudeau. I just love it, World Democracy Leaders like Trudeau, Macron, Keir Starmer and many more EU leaders will come to the aid of Americans to show just how Corrupt and Deranged Trump is and, he can't threaten or fire them. Trump's actions WILL trigger a unification of EU Countries with Canada and any other country that Trump threatens. Tesla EVs won't be purchased, EU and Canadian Satellites won't be launched by US companies, and you'll see EU and Canadian Defense company R&D funding and sales take-off as new Trade agreements are made between these other countries that Severely hurt the US Economy in numerous ways which, just maybe, some since into the total Nut-Job, Scum-Bag, multi-Felon and Rapist named Donald.

Canada already had tariffs on certain U.S. goods before the recent trade disputes escalated in 2025. Historically, Canada has maintained tariffs on various American products to protect its domestic industries, particularly in sectors like agriculture and manufacturing. For example, under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (USMCA), which replaced NAFTA and was signed during Donald Trump’s first term, trade between the U.S. and Canada is largely tariff-free for many goods. However, Canada has long imposed high tariffs on specific U.S. products outside of these agreements, such as dairy, poultry, and eggs, under its supply management system. These tariffs can reach up to 270% on milk, 245% on cheese, and nearly 300% on butter, designed to shield Canadian producers from foreign competition.\n\nAdditionally, Canada has applied tariffs on other U.S. goods over the years, often in response to trade disputes or to balance economic interests. For instance, before the latest round of tariffs in 2025, Canada had tariffs on thousands of product categories, though the exact scope and rates varied depending on the goods and trade agreements in place. Posts found on X also highlight sentiment that Canada has had tariffs on U.S. products like dairy and cars for decades, with some claiming rates as high as 25% on U.S. vehicles—though this may reflect specific cases rather than a blanket policy.\n\nIn contrast, the U.S. generally did not impose broad tariffs on Canadian goods until recent actions under President Trump, who introduced a 25% tariff on Canadian imports effective March 4, 2025, prompting Canada to retaliate with reciprocal 25% tariffs on CA$155 billion of U.S. goods. This retaliation built on Canada’s existing tariff framework but escalated the scale significantly. So, while Canada did have tariffs on U.S. goods beforehand, the current trade war has intensified the situation far beyond the pre-existing measures

Donald woke up and chose violence. Hes clearly unfit. Sorry Canada that too many people here voted for a bully.

You people from Canada and the USA are worried, imagine Mexico, where many people can barely survive with their families on a minimum wage. God bless North America.

Well if hes going to talk like that all governor positions are off the table for him...\nMaybe Putin will catch Trudeaus ankle with an umbrella end and ding dong the witch is dead. ?\nFunniest thing is he says prices are expected to rise for Americans . Through tariffs right?\nSo then he matches those tariffs. So i guess Canadians can expect the same old bs from him.\nBC legalized fentynol! They found a giant fentynol lab out there. Imagine how many more there are! \nCrack heads all over our major cities in Canada. Jobs are down, economy is down, human rights is down. But he has nice socks.

How many of you hosers have been outside of a Liberal city? Canada WAS a great Country. Until the Left destroyed it.
2025-03-04 0
I think it's important to citizens of the world outside of America to know that not all of us represent this government! I am a veteran and never would turn my back on leadership... Until this clown. I stand with Canada, and all of you who have stated as much. We who didn't vote trump in can now only stand by and watch this mistake happen! It's going to take nations to come together with us to stop this dictator from destroying everything we've fought for! I have given my life to the military as we deployed to many countries to support efforts to rebuild after disasters both natural and man made. Now I call on this nations to stand ready when we need you most! Please don't give up on those of us who still care. It's time!!!
2025-03-04 0
Say it correctly please, the American PEOPLE are NOT enemies of Canada….President Trump and those who voted for him are enemies of Canada. Many Canadians and Americans are being harmed by a president they did not vote for and we don’t want Canadians and Americans who are innocent to suffer. A great day of us Americans want to remain friends with Canadians and are very sad about what is going on.
2025-03-04 0
That’s how a real leader talks to his countrymen. Stay strong Canada, sorry we have so many morons in my country who support this idiot.

It's AMAZING how many bots are claiming to be Americans who stand with Canada. ????
2025-03-04 0
I'm SO VERY SORRY all this is happening! Canada, we send you our love! Right now, our government absolutely sucks! Many of us DO NOT like or support what's going on!

There is a lot of talk on Fentanyl headed south, but no mention by Canada of how much of the drug heads north. I can't be zero. There has to be transit of the drug from the USA into Canada.\n\nBut what I truly don't understand, is that what heads south is not crossing through the Canadian border. All south bound traffic needs to go through US Border patrol agents. So by that measure, how is Canada not doing its job? I've crossed into Canada many times and have been asked to pull over for a search of my vehicle more times than I've been searched on my return to the USA, which was once, my very first crossing in 2002. \n\nMy only guess is the problem isn't fentanyl, that's just a distraction and by design a way to get people believing in something that isn't true and to help further the rift.
2025-03-04 0
trudeau all you have done for Canada and Canadians in 10 years is try your best to destroy us. Why should we believe anything you say. How many $ billions have you embezzled? The worst thing is you gave iot to fake agencies overseas that looks like money laundering. NOTHING for Canada or Canadians. I'll steal your words to trump. This and you are REALLY DUMB!
2025-03-04 0
This is not anti-American, it is just fighting back from an unnecessary trade war. It does however break my heart because many Canadians have family on the U.S. side. I know it would also break my father’s heart as he grew up in New England and had a lifetime affection for the U.S. I despise politics and have not been a proud Canadian for a few years but I have to admit that this speech is getting me going again. Canada needs to get its act together and rebuild its military, not to fend off the U.S. but to hold its own should other countries decide we are ripe for the picking. I want U.S.-Canada relations to be tight again. We’re neighbor. We will have our disagreements and that’s fine but these trade wars will hurt everyone and, if it lasts, may leave lasting grievances.
2025-03-04 0
We ran into so many people in California this past weekend, with support for us. I kept telling them, they are the ones we stand with, as they go through all of this. So many of them don’t even want to be in the US anymore.\n\n*This was not a post for people who voted for that Orange asshat. You can all get the H double hockey sticks out of here with your bullshit. Get out of Canada if you are here too. ???

They looked scared as hell. Trudeau is like a vindictive fired employee who steals and damages stuff before leaving. People like him are why many companies have security escort them out when they leave. Canada is going to suffer just so this wimp can feel like he stood up to Trump. He isn't even in a position to negotiate anymore. He's just causing his country more pain for no reason. Typical socialist. Whole lot of people in the comments don't understand the numbers. Canada has zero chances to win a trade war. Many Canadian businesses are already moving to the US.

I’m a 53 year old Canadian. I went to college on an athletic scholarship & lived there for 10 years after turned professional in my sport. Why, why, why - with all the problems going on in the world right now to tackle - why would you want to start a trade war with your closest trading partner & most loyal ally? Not to mention that your list of Allies is shrinking daily. This is not going to end well for either of us. \nI just arrived home from a trip to the grocery store - making sure nothing in my cart said “ made in the USA” on it due to the new tariffs that began today. \nThe irony is, many of the states where Trump won by the biggest margin, are the states that are going to get hit the hardest from Canadian retaliation tariffs ( Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Indiana, the Dakotas - just to name a few). A lot of farmers in those states are going to be hit extremely hard with the fertilizer tax. After Canada, the next 3 largest Potash producers are Russia, Belarus & China. So , good luck \nWhen the cost of fruit & vegetables skyrocket across the US. Maybe you’ll put a little more thought into your vote 4 years from now.
