Canada has known for decades that we have put too many eggs in one basket - selling our resources primarily to the USA. We've had tariffs before and worked with them. Yet we still keep selling to the USA. This time is different. In conjunction with the tariffs, we have an American administration that is flat out insulting Canada. Saying we wouldn't exist economically if it wasn't for the USA. It's at a time when the USA won't promise not to use military force to annex land (Greenland) from a decades old ally. A time when clearly Putin is calling in his chips for whatever he has over Donald Trump. Canadians have had enough. We are directing our governments, provincial and federal, to finally, finally break from the north-south trade links. We need to establish stronger east-west trade links. The resources we have are wanted by many countries if the USA does not want them. It does mean much work within Canada. We need to get our AB-BC pipeline finished as well as the new sea terminal so we can ship our crude oil and natural gas to Japan and if need be, to China. We finally need to get out pipeline to the Atlantic coast finished so we can supply the UK and EU with our products. We need to double our rail capacity for shipping potash, uranium, rare minerals to Asia or Europe. Just as Trump hopes for a golden age of American companies coming home and building new plants in the USA, this will be a golden decade for Canada to create transportation corridors to get our resources to other buyers. America will have to look elsewhere for his raw materials. And we all know what that is - RUSSIA. They've already offered their rare minerals and crude oil. This is all clearly a well thought out scenario from the people working behind Trump to dismiss America's allies and trading partners - have us turn against the USA - as the excuse to open the door to Russian imports into the USA.

First and foremost let’s be reminded that Trump is doing this for Putin in retaliation to what the Biden administration did to Russia with the sanctions for invading Ukraine. Secondly, Trump wants to be King. By weakening our economy and putting millions of people at risk and ruining their lives, he hopes a civil war can be started so that Russia, North Korea and possibly China can attack us while at war with each other and the Federal Government.

As an American I'm 60 yrs old. And I totally agree With Canada's Prime Minister Trudeau 1000%. I never wanted Trump. And let's make this clear by all means. To those that voted for his dumb ass I hope u you got what you wanted. HE DOES NOT GIVE A CRAP BOUT AMERICA ONLY PUTIN WHO WITH TRUMP BEING THE ULTIMATE ASS KISSER TO HIM TO DESTROY OUR DEMOCRACY AND THE PEOPLE WITHIN IT. GOD HELP US ALL. IT'S NOT GOING TO BE PRETTY. As an American, I am appalled by Trump’s actions. I, for one, agree that his reasons for imposing tariffs is a lie. I strongly disagree with his blatant disregard for America’s allies. There is NO justification for aligning the US with Putin. If he thinks Putin has our interests in mind, he is crazy! Before it’s too late, I hope that his cabinet, the house, and senate realize that they can no longer support a president who does not support our interests as a country.

Trudeau has an air of decency and honesty about him that the orange emperor and his pet prat could never hope to aspire to. Trump is simply bad bad bad for all of us...except Putin of course!

Twice in a week Trump is humiliated by a world leader, Trump thinking he can be a president of a country like the ceo of a corporation. If our military insiders know that Trump is compromised by Putin, why are they not doing their duty to protect us from enemies both foreign and domestic? That being said, I do agree that the crossings from Canada are not nearly as significant as compared to our southern border. It would be nice to see more from Canada in their investments to secure the border and stop crossings, cartel movements, and drug operations. The US has spent more than 409 billion since 2003 on such operations. Regardless, I feel for you Canadians and it sucks that it has come to this and I hope we keep strong relations in the future. Hopefully we can come to a fair deal soon. Mexico and China are the big players that do not do nearly enough to prevent these crimes. In fact, the Mexican government helps the cartels by not trying to stop them. China's lack of regulation on the ingredients to make fentanyl contribute to a large extent to this tragedy as well.

As a u.s citzen I'm appalled and ashamed of my president.
