Meanwhile, many first-generation South Asian immigrants don’t qualify for the refugee-style supports that others receive. Instead, they work long hours, often in precarious jobs, just to cover bills. The frustration often mistaken as an “attitude problem” comes from facing daily systemic barriers—being seen as “less than” despite contributing equally, if not more, to society. The underlying issue is that the old colonial mindset persists: brown immigrants are not granted the same social standing as white Canadians. Equality on paper is not equality in practice.

Participating in a society that requires you to have a cell phone is why you live in a society that requires yo to have a cell phone. There needs to be a hard ban on immigration from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh (aka those that most abuse the system). Send all those temporary workers and students back and exclude these countries from participating in the different streams. High skilled immigration from Europe is fine, but nobody needs third worlders ruining the economy and society. \n\nCanada can either take this step now or face a much, much more grim reality with far more drastic measures in by the end of this decade

Stop wasting so much money on sheltering dogs. The cost is enormous ($5,000 to $6,000 a year) per dog, and these dogs do not participate or contribute economically to society.

Canada has always been a peaceful, prosperous, progressive and a good governance oriented nation. In the recent decade, too much of woke, radical left wing ideology has penetrated into policy and public institutions that have led to Canada’s current day crisis. \n\n2. This country has always welcomed talented immigrants who are willing to integrate with the Canadian society, embrace its values, traditions and culture. However, in the last 10 years, too many refugees and reckless mass immigration has put an incredible pressure on the economy, infrastructure and social cohesion. \n\n3. The political leadership has allowed reckless mass immigration without caring to boost the economy/infrastructure to handle the volume and hence the sorry state of affairs. \n\n4. Too many immigration consultants of Indian origin engage in outright VISA frauds (yes, this is unfortunately true) leading to ppl coming in as a tourist and then seeking asylum or converting their visa into a student visa (55 year olds from Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat coming here as students).\n\n5. A significant chunk of people coming from India (esp. Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat) seeking a permanent residency in Canada are using student visas as a back door to claim eligibility for PR/citizenship. This is downright abusive and was never intended to be used like this. This has fueled a fake college diploma industry into Canada where “2-room” colleges have sprung up along the highways giving out fake diplomas and certifications for easy cash. Thus, the students, the immigration consultants and the fake diploma issuing colleges are all getting benefited from this scam. The internet is filled with such sting operations by Canadian officials exposing Indian students/immigration consultants. Do check them out. \n\n6. Unlike the past, the recent batch of immigrants in the last 3 years or so, make no effort at all to integrate into Canadian society and abuse the system, create law and order problem, drive recklessly, talk loudly in public spaces, litter everywhere, cross railway tracks like they do in India, steal liquor from stores, shamelessly collect food from food banks (as a way to save on groceries) that are meant for the elderly, disabled or those that are in utter poverty. It wasn’t like this ever before. In cities like Mississauga, Brampton and Surrey, the Khalistan movement + gangs involved in theft, drugs and human trafficking are from Punjab/Haryana and they have mushroomed here like crazy. A good 30-40% criminals in prison or on bail in these cities are of India ethnicity. \n\nIt is behaviours like these by Indians in the recent few years that has thoroughly infuriated native Canadians and now they hate the rest of us that have lived here peacefully and have been good citizens. There is a very serious, very real anti-immigrant (anti-Indian too) sentiment building up here. \n\n7. Lastly, the student protests that you have highlighted here is absolutely ridiculous! These students from India came to Canada under a student visa knowing fully well that they are supposed to go back after the completion of their studies, and now they are DEMANDING that they be issued extensions in work permits and be considered for PR. This is insane! This is because they never intended to return to India in the first place and were abusing the system as a back door entry. They are threatening to go on hunger strikes and what not. Legally, on a student visa, they are NOT allowed to participate in any sort of activism. \n\nNOBODY that comes to our country on a temporary visa (student, tourist etc.) has the right to dictate terms to us and demand that we change our immigration policies based on their preferences. No, that will not happen. \n\nCanada, like every country, has the sole right and privilege to decide who gets to become a permanent resident or a citizen based on our national priorities and strategic interests. Wow! I’m Canadian born and just came across this. 100%. Totally agree. Great review. Things are definitely broken here, slowly deteriorating for the past 20 years, but especially escalated since Trudeau in 2015, and the BS and lies and propaganda since the start of COVID. This country is deteriorating as a direct consequence of our fascist government and broken institutions. Don’t know where this goes, but we are definitely a nation in decline, and the takeover of government by corporate interests and corrupt politics is the reason why. We do not live in a democracy. Don’t let anybody tell you we do. Everything is a lie, and people are figuring it out and no longer wish to participate in a society that has become hostile towards the middle class. The entire system is a pyramid scheme, and the Jenga blocks are crumbling.

There is much to do, places to see, books to read, walking, community centres, clubs, if we wish to do so. Can't remain stuck in the same routine. One can see from the different body language of the participants that the problems are personal. The attitudes are entirely different. One must participate in the society where one lives.

Republicans and corporate dems have been rerouting our tax money away from public education and towards private charter rich people schools for the last 30 years. Our country is in trouble. To me, a democratic society is an equal and just society for each and every citizen. Freedom is where every citizen has all their civil rights in that democratic society. This means we should be valued and treated equally under every circumstance.\n\nI'm a Canadian and I can see we are not doing that by over-policing black and indigenous communities, by denying indigenous communities the ability to participate in Canadian society with their own culture in tact and by our biases about people with other ethnicities, like Asians and East and West Indians.\n\nWe may not be bad as the US, but we are still doing these things. It needs to be addressed and rectified if we ever want to be a truly self-aware, equal and just democratic society for every citizen.\n\nRegardless of the political party we support, I can't fathom why every citizen would not want an equal and just democratic society for themselves and their fellow citizens, as it improves everyone's lives.

this is pure horse shit, while there is people afraid of muslims the west has created a society that prides itself on tolerance and inclusion. The full niqab is basically a wall to society saying I don't want to communicate or participate as eye contact and facial expressions determine how we interact with each other. If you feel the need to dress in a full veil I would suggest moving to a islamic society that would make you feel included.
