Hey! Im a sikh that was born in canada, with my parents, grand father, great grand father also being in this beutiful country. I wanted to start of by saying a couple of things. My home was in brampton for a long time and I have personally seen the safety gone down, my family used to come back from trips with our garage open and everything would be completely fine. The long term sikhs and indians came and actually contributing positively and that can be seen with how good canada was pre 2020. Immigration too an extent was good, but mass immigration was never a good idea. In 2018-2019 the old time punjabi community was heavily against so many students coming in, so much so people that were indian had "no students" signs when renting their basements. It's sad to see people that came here running things so badly and ruining the effort and contributions made by many(I even face the consqeunces of things I have never done). Remeber don't be afraid to call out people for their bullshit, but also dont bash innocent people. Now many ppl came to canada and have done good like sikhs having the highest donors of blood, plasma, and platelets. We also giveway a lot in charity and food. A good news is Canada is cracking down on these bad people and quickly, and many good people who came are returning back home. I have seen a lot of videos online, but please remember algorithms and pushed media make things seem worse than they actually are. Canada should immediately order total blockade the border and reject all goods coming to Canada from USA and ask all Canadian not going to USA from now until further notice to force Trump Tariff to crack down! During Obama’s time, they were cracking down on illegal migrants, even Hillary spoke against it. But when Biden got into office, he opened the border wide and said, “Come in. We welcome you.” And most of these migrants were not vetted, no paperwork, drugs flowed freely with them along with trafficked women and children. It is incumbent upon the Canadian government to screen out those applicants who received fake admission letters upon arrival or even before departing for Canada - at the Indian airport of departure. Clearly the priority of the Canadian government was to allow one and all in so as to benefit from the exorbitantly high tuition fees charged to international students - so scrutiny of offer letters took a back seat. The recent crack down on international students (after such a long time) especially in the wake of the impending elections makes Canadians highly skeptical. This is nothing but damage control by the Trudeau government now that they are faced with the prospect of a decimation at the general elections. They needed a scapegoat - what better than to blame international students....the outsider - sound familiar?

To all those supporting the cracking down on these ‘illegals’ there’s something I need to know. Tell me, if they folks had an option to immigrate legally, would they? Do you think it’s some kind of malicious effort to come here against the law, or are they coming here out of desperation? Many of these people come from places like Haiti, Colombia, or Guatemala. Places that the CIA and American tax dollars destroyed. I really don't see why this is controversial. You HAVE to moderate immigration regardless of your own political leaning, and to do this you need to deport anyone who slips through the cracks. Make immigrating legally take less time and be less complicated, this is how you encourage legal immigration while also discouraging illegal immigration.

I can tell you one of the major reasons. It is the fact that these immigrants from India do not want to assimilate into Canada. Instead they bring their ways with them into Canada and some of those “ways”, are not acceptable in Canada. One example of that is the whole using the bathroom on the beach. But one that hits hard for me is the insane amount of immigrants that are harvesting spawning salmon with nets, without any of the properly paperwork that is needed to fish salmon with a rod. Using a net is illegal, I know they know it because when I catch them doing this. They become quiet and all of a sudden, after hearing them just speaking English, they pretend they do not know English… I can tell you this is all true. The other thing I have seen with my eyes is shop lifting from the local grocery store. I have never seen that before, not ever in all my years living here. It would be somewhat different if they were stealing essential items and essential foods. But they are not doing that, they are stealing all the luxury items. I am a white Canadian and I am proud of it, but guess what. I am also proud of the fact that I have a doctor that came from India and his family is thriving here. It makes me proud that he chose our country try to come to, with his educational background, it also makes me proud that he and his family have taken the time to try and assimilate into our culture. When I say assimilate by the way, I do not want them or and immigrant to completely abandon their cultures, I just would prefer it if they assimilate to the point where we can have a healthy community instead of all these separate cultural areas in our towns and cities. The other thing I have to add is that the word racism is thrown around too much and too easily in our current woke cultural climate here in Canada and this is just making the immigration issues worse because it produces a culture of fear for those Canadians that would like to help educate those immigrants that need help. But they do not do so because they are afraid of being labeled a racist or some other word and having their livelihoods and overall lives ruined. I am in a position in life where I do not care if people want to say such things about me. I am also well educated and in the position to come up with well articulated arguments in my defence. My main issue with immigration that bothers me more than the rest not only affects us Canadians but also affects the immigrants as well. Ok so before mass immigration was a thing here in Canada our healthcare system that we all used to be extremely proud of the as showing too many cracks and we knew it was falling apart. You think the government would place more funding into the healthcare system. Well that has not happened and if anything they have taken more funds away from our healthcare system than any other time in our country’s history. So before the mass immigration begun we had a major issue with having way too many patients and not enough medical staff to adequately treat everyone in a timely and healthy manner. So now think about that, the healthcare system was already stressed with the current population before mass immigration. How do you think adding waves and waves of more people every year via mass immigration is affecting that system? The answer is this… if the system was stressed beforehand, it is collapsing now. I am one of the lucky few that has a family doctor right now. It takes three months the just for me to see her… If I have an emergency and have to call 911, the ambulance will take me up to the local ER and then I will be wheeled out to the waiting room, which defeats the purpose of me calling 911 for a ambulance. I have waited two days at the local ER just to see a doctor. So here is where it affects the immigrants coming in. If a Canadian that was here before you is already having major issues with the healthcare, then I can only imagine how hard it will be for a new citizen to our country, nuff said really… the local er near me had a person die in the waiting room this past January. Add to this fact that I am actually pretty sick at the moment and so are my parents and you can understand why I am upset about our failing healthcare system. The politicians do not have to worry about our such issues though because they can afford to pay to go outside of Canada and pay cold hard cash for medical treatment. That is why they do not mind removing funds from our healthcare system, it will not affect them and they get to line their pockets with more of our tax money… I honestly place most of the blame for what is going on right now on Trudeau’s government and not the immigrants. The immigrants could help make this crappy situation a lot better for both of our parties though if they tried a little harder to adapt to our ways of life here. When in Canada try to live like a Canadian, I do not think that is asking much. Again, as for racism, I believe in judging a person by their actions and not by the colour of their skin. Canadian Universities have no right to demand anything! CEOs and other execs need to drop down their salaries by a lot. We should have a cap on that. Don't base Canadian's right to education on immigrants, we know that model doesn't work. That has destroyed affordability and all for your relentless greed. We need more Canadians at college, less tuition fees, more federal money into the system and less internacional students. Your model is unsustainable and it was about time for that cash cow madness to come to an end. By the way, we also need to crack down on those fake colleges and outlet diploma mills. Post secondary education is a mess and it should be cleaned up real good.

this is actually a really good summary of the situation. just like how India has their bad people who have caused problems we canadians also have similar people in who are just as troublesome if not worse such as the junkies on the streets who I see all the time here in Montreal and cause so much chaos. a big argument which I also feel like is that we should only allow the best of the best to immigrate to Canada. my mom was an immigrant and is an incredibly hard worker who is more than deserving of a Canadian citizenship and even my close friend who immigrated from India is just like that and is also 10x cleaner than anyone else I've ever lived with. the fact of the matter is that we need to bring back those high standards which we had in the past and crack down and send back those who abused the system and illegally entered the country. Lived 2 years in Canada, Niagara falls (ON) To be specific. I was working at the gas station and i can confirm the drung issue. Store was surrounded by at least 10 junkies at all times, The store i was working at was robbed multiple time( luckily not during my shift). The health care sucks, you’ll have to wait for hours even in emergency cases. We have CRPF deployed at metro stations here in India Canada has crack heads, I visited US multiple times during my tenure and can confirm that US is slightly better.

Calgary is the same. People openly smoking crack all times of day and night, and fentanyl / tranq ODs all over. It used to be so clean when I moved here in 2012. Not any more. Provincial govt say they're creating 200 rehab beds. We need THOUSANDS!

I have an idea of what this man at the beginning is talking about, not the homeless aspect but being turned down for nonprofit programs, I am on a government disability pension in b.c I was making some strides to better my life such as schooling etc, then my last living family member my father passed away in 2014 and more and became extremely depressed and had thoughts of suiside, I told my doctor what's happening to me, and he made letter after letter to mental health on my behalf, for some assistance, and I got nothing, because I did not fit the mental health criteria of sleeping in a tent smoking crack, meth or shooting up etc, I'm guessing because I was still paying rent and eating that I was not unstable enough to get any assistance, or go back to school etc but at the same time, literally tens of millions are spent annually on the coast for those on drugs and in tents and all it seems to do is enable the problem, while those who want to work and get on with thier lives get nothing.....

9 years ago I was in same position when i went to Indian Embassy in London to get the emergency visa. Firstly we encountered very strong smell of cold Daal and aloo gobi then after an hr after nagging them few times a lady came with her fingers liaded with turmeric stains and she was so rude and slow that we spent half the day iver there. Believe me I am not exaggerating a bit when i say i was the only one there to be served and yet few indian employees in that office were busy having tea and snacks and cracking jokes. I remained silent and in the end lady gave me 1 month's visa and literally threw my passport out of the counter. \nWell I checked it and all i said you are a very rude person and you are turning London offices into Indian Govt offices.\nIts a shame some people just dont know how they blenish the name of their own country.

I drive from Chicago.. to visit my gf in Toronto regularly. Toronto has a huge homeless / drug problem. The police also seem indifferent to the sometimes violet issues on the streets. Last time I was there there were crack heads breaking into my GFs private parking garage. Tbh stuff like that doesn't bother me toooooo much as I am from a bigger city, so we have some problems too. But Toronto seems to embrace these problems and don't seem to be doing anything about it.

Huge Canadian ( and the UK) property management companies are in the US buying up blocks of property and jacking up the rent, contributing to our housing crisis. I arrived in canada as an immigrant in 1990 from Poland. many of observations were already valid then. however among my friends close and distant who came here at same/similar time most achieved success. Cardiologist, few RNs, computer programmers/IT in wide understanding of the term, skilled trades, car mechanics, RE agents, production managers in manufacturing facilities and the list goes on . we all have paid for houses educated kids that do better earlier in life than we did. i worked in construction field, hard work and retired at 55 and so did my wife(nurse). yes the healthcare is an issue but i was lucky not to ever fall through the cracks and got care when needed.

For the first time this summer we saw a young man (early 20s) smoking crack in public in one of the poshest neighbourhoods in Toronto: Yorkville, right outside of the exit to the subway. Normal people are leaving Toronto because Toronto is not Normal.

One thing I would like to note is that Canada is not welcoming in only highly skilled workers. If you can work at a Tim Horton's you qualify. This has lead to a flood of new workers who HAVE to have a job in order to stay at a time where the existing labour pool is refusing work due to pay lagging far behind inflation for two decades. Those salaries discrepancies you listed are not exclusive to the tech sector, they are economy wide. Often you'll here talk of a labour shortage in Canada, but ask for the number of applicants to jobs and you quickly find out the reason no one accepted is because the full-time job offered requires a part-time job to barely make ends meet. \n\nAnother factor is that housing happens to be the bread and butter of ~40% of our MP's. Hell our Minister of Housing himself owns properties that have appreciated massively due to the lack of supply and high demand. He then goes on national TV and says high immigration will solve the housing crisis despite Canada already having over 4% of our entire labour force already in the construction industries (America is a little over 3%) and the men and women who build our houses being unable to afford the homes they build ($22.07/hr CAD average or ~$16.66 USD. compared to $22.29/hr USD). 14% of our national GDP is housing. 14% of our entire economy is just money changing hands internally with nothing of value made. \n\nThen you have the combo of landlords benefiting from the immigration programs who try and evict the tenants on their properties to replace them with immigrant labour. They then take the cost of rent right out of their salaries. The workers can't quit their jobs because if they don't have a job they are at risk of being deported and also loosing their homes so they end up shacking 8 to an apartment to try and make ends meet. This becomes the standard the rest of the economy has to meet. \n\nIt is a rare sight to see someone who is anti-immigrant in Canada, but the majority of people here understand that immigration is a problem the way it is currently run. You have people who come here hoping for a new life being forced to sleep outside under bridges because while they may have a job they don't have a home and the shelters are already 200% capacity. Tent cities are the norm in any major urban centre now. There are crack dens in Toronto that are the same price as Castles in the UK. And this problem is only going to get worse.

We will also all receive better care at the hospital. \n \nUS companies and foreign companies are building factories in India or in Mexico when the same workers are at our doors. Let's build them here in the USA and we English speakers will have to manage them unfortunately since that’s the language of the Country. If you speak Spanish and English, you are going to have many jobs. \nEverything important should be made in America with all these workers. We can all have our own factories and business and exploit cheap labor flocking to our Great Country. However, I found it very risky continuing to live in Ontario / Canada, and couldn’t continue doing any business where there is no fair legal protection and do not respect the basic human rights of ethnic minorities.\n\nThere are too many fraudulent organizations, individuals, legal professionals, and public servants with authority. People with fiduciary duty openly lie, abuse their authority, commonly downplay the significance of their criminal acts, and together they seem to be trying to maintain their status quo biases.\n\nI have emigrated from Canada a year ago to protect my health and life, but am still concerned about the safety of my good friends who live in Ontario/Canada because of the corrupt legal system there. \n\nSpecific examples of what I have experienced: \n\n[Employment Case] \n- Punished by ‘the system’ for pointing out the risk of clients' data manipulation by the upper management of a company; investigations by the Ministry of Labour were biased and incomplete; the legal proceedings by OLRB was interrupted and biased; they have suppressed/buried the evidences that I have provided; they did not share all case files with the applicant(me) but among all other parties until one minute before 5pm on the last day of the statute of limitation; the Vice Chair had interrupted the direct negotiation between the parties and closed the case by canceling the hearing; the Board’s lawyer told, 'sue the Ontario government if you have any issue'; \n\n[Civil Case/Lawyer Malpractice] \n- Ignored by the system when filed a complaint about the fraudulent practices (to LSO) and a fraudulent charge of over 10K without any itemized invoice (to the Superior Court of Justice [SCJ]) made by a contingency lawyer after failing to respond to the opposing party by deadline, failing to negotiate, and abandoning the client(me); the lawyer is apparently a son of board members / public servants of the province and the country, according to a paralegal who I met for the first time at the Fee Assessment Hearing “by chance” and claimed himself as my counsel to the Court clerks and telling them to send all documents to him (I’ve never asked nor retained him); LSO refused to investigate my reporting; the Commissioner had refused to accept a critical evidence, and refused to investigate without reason; the Fee Assessment Officer at SCJ was biased by giving privilege to the lawyer at the hearing, and interrupted the hearing without waiting my response; (the lawyer wrote an online article then about LSO and said “There are too many unacceptable practices that are being tolerated or ignored by the Law Society - from improper marketing to improper contingency retainer agreements. The regulatory penalties for such breaches are essentially non-existent, and these practices will continue until there are adequate enforcement measures in place.” He appeared to be talking about himself. He had threatened to pay the unreasonable fee over 10K for the unfinished contingency case, withdrew the amount anyway from my credit-card, and refused to provide the case files to me/client, while OLRB Vice Chair had ordered to cancel the hearing after interrupting the direct negotiation with the opposing party; they all refused to share the records of communications that had occurred without my knowlege/presence.)\n\n[Residential Tenancy/Public Health&Safety Case]\n- Punished by the system for requesting the property owner to eradicate health hazards (toxic mold, pests, and dusts) from my living space in a residential rental property; LTB proceedings was biased and unfair, interrupted multiple times when I spoke and suppressed the use of my evidences in the hearing (e.g., a letter from a medical doctor, warning the danger of continued exposure to toxic mold), downplayed the risks of exposure to asbestos/lead and the obvious contraventions of the laws [OHSA, RTA, and municipal Property Standards by-laws] by the property owner; LTB suggested the [former] Tenant to pay for the order reviews only to decline those reviews; LTB's selective omissions of evidences that are inconvenient to the other party/ the property owner; my basic human rights were clearly violated -- no response from LTB, Tribunals Ontario, nor Human Rights Tribunals; the property owner, municipal Property Standards office, and LTB have colluded, needlessly delayed the proceedings, and closed the case after 2.5 years without issuing any order against the property owner’s contraventions of the laws, while I had continued to suffer from the prolonged exposures to health hazards (I have paid the rent in full for over a decade without any delay, even during the Covid lockdown, out of my retirement savings [I was not eligible for the government financial support during the lockdown -- no income, but some retirement savings]). At least two of sixteen units in the building had their balconies literally falling apart; the walls have cracks and friable materials in the living space; my neighbors were afraid of falling through the cracks on the balconies from the upper floors — you never hear about these things in news because they are all colluded and do not issue any official orders.\n\n[Healthcare Issue]\n- I left Canada before Nov. 30, 2021, as I had serious reactions to the first Covid vaccine-shot (my immune system was compromised, affected by the continued exposures to health hazards in my apartment) but my physician had refused to diagnose them then — there was no proof of my adverse reactions to the first shot; later the physician had made lies and terminated the doctor-patient relationship; I was required to take the second-shot, or else… I have disposed / gave away of my belongings within two weeks and left the country to protect my health and life -- fled from Canada.\n\nReported to CBC, but they do not reply. \nPosted Gogle Reviews, but they are deleted.

I think you ladies are way out in left field and you really don't know what you're talkin about. Unfortunately for some people it doesn't work out for whatever reason usually because they do not want to assimilate very well. I grew up in Ontario to a french-canadian father and an Italian mother in my life in Canada was so perfect said if I had to dream up a better life I could not have done so. I grew up playing all the sports and enjoyed all the different sports and the changes of seasons. My parents had a summer home on the st-lawrence river and every summer we water-ski swam fished, play golf in the morning and barbecues every night right on the water. Even though my grandfather was in the hotel business I was all about sports and enjoying everything about it. I grew up in a town of about 50 thousand about 40 miles from Montreal. When I wanted some great nightlife just drove a short drive to Montreal and it had everything did anyone could want in Nightlife. I have lived in United States for forty years and I can tell you that it really isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Heaven forbid should you get some kind of catastrophic illness you are screwed. I knew a woman who work for travelers insurance for 30 years at the best insurance a money could buy had suffered a couple of strokes and was on the verge of going broke had she not died when she died. People think that insurance continues to pay his long as you're ill and nothing could be further from the truth. This lady was going to have to sell her house to continue paying for round-the-clock care had she not died when she did. United States middle class is getting wiped out. I've seen enough poverty and hardship in this country to last a lifetime. I find greed to be running rampant in this country. When I grew up in Canada there was always the grass is greener on the other side and when I did move over to the other side the US that is I can tell you unequivocally the dead grass is not greener on the other side. There are more millions and millions of people here that are one or two paychecks away from being homeless. And we're talkin 2023. Now let's talk about violence. There is a mass murder in the United States every single day of the year. And a mass murder is defined by four or more people being killed by one person at one time. Killing these so out of control in the United States that now even six-year-olds are shooting their teacher. I find a tremendous amount of built-up Anger from people. Food is very expensive and shelter is also out of control and non affordable to most people. Again I find United States being able to paint a much Rosier picture then does really exist. And there are more con artists and thieves , Crooks, con-artists, bamboozlers, cheats and scammers then anywhere that I've ever been. And I will say this is it it ain't getting any better and I don't see it ever getting better. I find it is everybody out for themselves no matter who they cheat. I live in Southern California and I can tell you that night life where I live is non-existent. Understand that LA and Hollywood they always have to glamorize everything to sell it to tourists. Just remember that things today are not what they were 40 years ago. Middle-class people in Canada would also be just middle-class people in the US. But if your life means anything to you as far as safety and raising a family then Canada wins hands down end of discussion. People that say Canada is boring is because they are boring. That's what I found to be pretty standard across the board. Life is what you make of it. But I will say that you gals definitely need to move away if you don't like Canada. Do not let the door hit your ass on the way out. And just for your information Canada ranks annually as one of the top countries in the world to immigrate to. Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area and next to Saudi Arabia has the third largest oil Reserves in the world. Canada has huge amount of freshwater which most of the rest of the world seems to be lacking and having spent my Summers on the Saint Lawrence River one of the Great Rivers in this world. I wouldn't change my twenty years in Canada for anyplace else in this world and I will be moving back shortly.

People don’t understand the reasons why people flee their home countries in the first place. They’re seeking refuge from public threats that their governments have failed countless time to crack down on. My grandparents and my own mother came here from Mexico illegally, but they eventually became naturalized US citizens through hard work, hope and determination. They left because of the rampant crime and violence taking place in the streets of Monterrey, Nuevo León. I was born here in this country in 2003, by sheer fortune alone. But that couldn’t have been possible if my family didn’t sacrifice all they had, just to be able to feel safe. It’s not lack of security, it’s lack of compassion and being able to understand what other humans go through. Fear-mongering and generalization of a certain group is atrocious, and should by no means be tolerated. Only through fair evaluation and hard work should a person be judged.
