To be honest this is something all political party’s from across the spectrum agree with in Canada at the moment, we literally have no housing . We the Canadian Tax payer have been footing rbe bill to keeo these immigrants/ refugees in rather nice 3/4 Hotles for the last few years . I’m a farmer who lives in the county but the closest city to where I live is Windsor and for the last 4 ish year the Government was hosting them in Five Hotel's across the city . It got to the point where it was cheaper for the government to BUY the hotels then rent all the rooms , so that’s what they did … No I’m all for helping people but that is kinda pushing it don’t you think ? There are no jobs for them , no homes for them , etc . We have been in a trade war for the last 2 years with the two largest economies in the world and we need to focus our economic power on thous conflicts at the moment and if the world like it or not fighting that is out top priority and everything else comes second .Even with out that fact Our former government overloaded what our ability’s where capable of handling . We have a pretty advanced social care network but these new folks who have never payed a dime into it and are living off of it for years with the government having no real plan on how to deal with it is just to much , with our with out the economic conflict we are currently in . The facts are the facts and we live in reality, anyways you guys all have a good one , cheers .

They get a lot of homes through mortgage fraud (watch the CDC report), to rent out as rooming houses, and they are a big reason for the housing shortage. Please do not buy from them if they are the selling agent. They are known to put harmful hidden clauses in the documents to get more money out of you than the list price, then you find out after the sale closes. They did this to one lady who bought her first home, and when the details were revealed AFTER closing, she had to file for BANKRUPTCY to clear her name and start her financial life again. DO NOT do the deal if they are the selling agent, and NEVER sign any paperwork they give you. We call it P----i paperwork. Do not sign it. Period. If they are the selling agent, walk away. Please spread the word. Their behavior is an ORGANIZED assault on the Canadian real estate and financial system, and it demands Canadians to deliver an organized response in rejection of this behavior. Boycott.

When I went to Niagara college it was 90% Indian exchange students. I saw punjabis pimping out girls in the school bar and constantly selling hard drugs in the open. I saw Indians drag women bye their hair through the hallways and force themselves onto them in private study rooms, while their friends guarded the exit to the room. Multiple times i had to stand up for women and almost get physical with them. One pulled a knife out on my in the hallway when I told him to get off a girl that obviously didn't want it. Me and my friend rented a house beside the college and we would have occasional partys. They would show up the party and push hard drugs onto my friends. One was flashing around a hand gun and acting like a wanna be gangster. They would steal things and leave their trash everywhere. I finally had enough and said no more Indians at my house.

Immigration not problem , i am immigrant and now Canadian citizen i used to save money, now i have no money whatever i earn go into bills. Soo much of tax. Um so tired of going to a store all immigrants working. Make a phone call it's answered by an immigrant. You can't understand them . I love on ccpd I don't get old age pension yet. I'm too old to get the child tax credit and I'm on a Canada pension disability. I get 713.00 a min to live on. Period. That's it. 😢😢😢 I struggle every day. A d I live in a small town but the city. Come on. They stopped saying the Lord's prayer in schools. They can't say Merry Christmas. Christmas concerts are called Holliday concerts now. It's not enough because you can work 10 hours at 21$ make 210$ pay your tax your left maybe with 140$ pay 15% on any purchase your left with 115$ gas with the large lands we have maybe 10$ to 20$ per day because again it's just taxed insurance 500$ per month and rent 1200$ for one room with strangers. 8$ bag of chips 20$+ subway for a fkn sandwich. 10$beer like it's gold. Im tired of wanting to move out my apartment but i cant cuz foreigners are buying up property and jacking up rent prices. And yes i am a daughter of an immigrant. And i see student housing being built and the rent is cheap! My rent has gone up twice in 2 years. Nothing is available under 1300 unless you rent a room. Nobody can change my traditions because they are mine and dont affect anyone. Groceries are unreal. I dont have a car anymore. I dont have children or a partner. Social time or entertainment is this. Youtube and my 2 dogs one of which now needs a leg amputation as she has cancer in her paw. I have a gofundme but its slow. But i see other pet owners that have them and because they use their pet as their unpaid actor they have made the money needed in days. Im just offering paperwork,proof,photos,making beaded collars,to try and make more. Im trying to open my own business doing nails. But callbacks from offices are not happening. My mental health has suffered since I was 18. I am gen x. Being a minority doesnt mean i get whatever i want either.

I'm pretty much exactly where that lady in the car is at. Enough to make rent, pay my monthly cell phone bill, and internet, but the rest? Not enough for food, no emergency funds if something breaks or needs replacing, etc. Can't even save and put money away. I sat down and balanced my budget, looking at what I could keep or toss. Figured out what to do for cheapening food costs as much as I could (without doing food bank), and the most I can afford for rent is $700 a month. That's basically a room in someone's house. That's it. As an Adult, I'm disgusted it's come to this. But what angers me MOST of all, is the Landlord's I gotta argue with. Surrey, BC used to be the cheap end of Vancouver. The welfare type housing, and low-income area. Then we had this huge book of Middle Eastern people come flying in at top speed, steam roll the community and make it theirs. They bought up all the cheap housing, ripped it down even though it was not that bad of a house, then built these custom 5-6 room mini mansions. The standards for the area skyrocketed, and the cost of their mortgage is likely also sky high because of what they built... So what do they do? Rent the rooms, force people 2 to a room with no privacy, and if you WANT a private room? Nearly $1000. Oh... And let's not forget the discrimination issues. If you're not going to temple or Gudwara, forget it. If you aren't pure vegetarian, forget it. And because all the other renters are "brown" and under 30yrs old, Adults are considered unwelcome. If you have a disability and don't work, you're automatically labelled a drug user (which isn't always truth). Even if you offer proof of income, and resources or phone numbers to call, they won't bother. Too much work. This sh*t needs to stop. I look in other cities near by, and it's happening in ALL OF THEM. I cant even relocate to get away from this crap. I'm done. I have no car to live out of, so that's not an option. I'm not a drug user, never will be but and all the shelters are now "low barrier". Screw that. So now what? Go back to work with a broken lower back?? Desk job search when I should be recovering and resting? Like, the suggestions are welcome, but be realistic. I'm in constant pain on heavy duty drugs to get by right now. No spouce. These students can't complain about the student fee, Housing , food and living cost .\n\nU can blame trudue for lowering the standards for student visa. \n\nTo my knowledge from friends i know as students durring high-school vs students coming to study at college. \n\nPrior to this issue these a few mandatory requirements \n\n- parents most make over 200 k usd , and assets .\n\n- you must have xxx amount in usd dollars equivalent in your bank account and open a HSBC bank account with xxx amount \n\n - u must show you can afford for your child to stay at a mandatory homestay , all the associated cost staying and studying in canada for min 3 years \n\nJust passing the first 3 requirements, most ppl get rejected. \n\n- most leave the home stay due to culture differences and end up renting a 1 bed room condo. \nThat alone back in harper days was 20 k a year.\n\nMind you these students i met are from Vietnam, a 3rd world country where a university graduate with 2 degree will make only $500 usd which is consider a very good job . Its equivalent to5 k / month . \n\nSo thier dollar isn't worth much , for their parents to have that much money to send a 15 year old to study hs in a foreign country is a luxury only a selected few can dream of\n\nAlso none of them worked and work permit wasn't allowed. Imagine you have your family, including small kids and older parents in your home and had one extra room for rent, you put ads out in the paper and interview some people for the spot, but while you are doing that, someone walked in your door and put all their things in your the room and then expected you to totally be cool with it. Anyone in their right mind, would be frustrated, even if that person was really nice and and said they'd pay rent. Any sane person would say, leave, go through the interviews, background checks, and then we'll see if it works out. The best advice I ever got was to rent rooms and share the common areas. That way they are boarders and not tennants and they don't have the same rights. Sure enough, I had a problem, called the police and got the guy out the next day. He tried to take me to the Landlord & Tennant Board but unfortunately for him, he wasn't a tennant. I gave him a sweatheart deal but some people want the whole hand.

If i look as a german guy , you can rent a house in calgary for 1200 € brand new , if you look here in germany you rent a appartment with 4 room's you pay 1300-1400 € (2338 CAD) without extra costs. I pay 3607 CAD only for energy for 4700 kWh for a year.

And you have the nerve to say, you don't belong here.\nMind you, they are there , through legitimate Government programmes which has subjected them into high assessment of their credentials as well as assessment of fluency in English. After complying with all the stipulated Government regulations, still such individuals are not been called for interviews, finally after wasting months and.months depleting their own funds, they are offered salaries way below the standard wage scales stipulated by labour rules for certain job categories. I blame a majority of students residing in rented rooms. These students then sublet to other students. Hence, over crowding the place to a point it becomes a fire hazard. Then they mess up the place by leaving garbage and beer cans in the room for the owners to pick up their mess.

In Canada, there is not enough housing and jobs are scarce, especially for anyone at the entry level or basic wage. We've been absolutely swamped. This is not the fault of the immigrants or the students, it's the fault of our extremely stupid and short sighted government. Most of those immigrants I encounter are good people, polite and considerate. But some, well I understand where the complaints about rude and inconsiderate behaviour come from, because it only takes a few bad experiences to get people angry. I've experienced it myself, but most of it (from my experience) seems to be from students who are very loud and impolite on public transit. The housing situation here is INSANE, prices are sky high and very little to choose from. A lot of seniors now can only afford to rent a room (after having worked all their lives and very little to show for it), and prices are up about 50% from only 5 years ago. The government says inflation is a fraction of what it is in real life, and living expenses have exploded. As I understand it, some people made a lot of money offering services to bring students and low wage workers in, with no consideration to the damage they were doing to all of us who were born and raised here - they wanted to make their million dollars. Another problem is that once someone arrives here, what they find is NOT what they were led to believe. What students and immigrants are told they need to live here is an absolute lie, living here in Canada has become very expensive. Many workers are severely under paid, and never even see the legal minimum wage, and the problem with that is, almost no Canadian will be hired on to those jobs - the reasons are that imported foreign workers will work below minimum wage because they are trapped here, and the Canadians already know that they will only struggle if they take jobs that pay so poorly. So yes, a lot of Canadians are VERY angry, and you really can't blame them. Once again, the Canadian government is responsible for much of this, and crooked employers who are willing to take advantage of low wage labour. It's an absolute mess.

No, the US doesn’t have universal health care but there are insurance plans and the care is enormously better. My girlfriend had 4th stage throat cancer. In Calgary the doctors at some point told her there was nothing more they could do for her and to get her affairs in order. Her father sent her to the Anderson Clinic in Houston - yes it was expensive but they treated her, saved her life and that was 24 years ago. \nIt’s common in our emergency rooms to wait up to 12 hours to be seen. \nOur system isn’t progressive and doctors and nurses don’t get paid near as well as in the States. That being said, I am happy that I don’t have to pay to see the doctor or have a stay in the hospital. \nCost of Living: Once upon a time it was good - housing was cheap and many companies had the full range of benefits and salaries were equal to the cost of living. Now these same companies have stripped the benefits by hiring people under contract so they don’t have to give them benefits. \nRents are through the roof and in Calgary there are no rent caps. Buying a decent house in a decent neighbourhood is impossible unless you inherit or make a six figure income. This, in no small part, has created a homelessness crisis that never had been seen in such numbers before. Crime also is getting worse by the day. Canada was once known as a safe country. This is no longer the case.\nEverything is very expensive and the tax very high. Plus, we have to suffer winter! Wow the entitlement is mind-boggling. If that is the attitude that people have coming here on a temporary Visa. 33 years ago I had a temporary work reason to work in the UK I worked six days a week paid rent paid bills and we built a business that hired other people and put money back into the economy. I can’t imagine being out in the streets protesting it to the UK government that I haven’t been pretty to the privileges of people that were born and bred in the country and were there before me in Ontario we definitely do not have housing available. The cost of housing for a room is $1000 a month outside of the city, basement apartment is 2000 and Condo, one bedroom and den is about 3000. I’m not sure what jobs students are expecting when employment is not at all-time high and the healthcare system is already strained and failing people that need vital surgeries. Seniors are waiting three months for an MRI and students that were born here are having trouble finding employment because entry jobs are given to immigrants we are approaching UK and Ireland crisis levels, it’s not about racism. We don’t have the infrastructure.

I'm from Mexico and I've applied to Canadian PR, but I'm seriously considering other options like Europe or Asia. I was considering Canada for to the security and better healthcare (even if I had to live paycheck to paycheck), but from the comments I'm honestly discouraged.\n\nHere in Mexico wages in IT have remained stagnant yet rent and food prices keep growing up each year. Even with over +6 years of experience I can barely afford a room in a shared apartment and just enough for food, let alone travel or save for retirement. Crime and corruption is rampant, even the safe cities have become very insecure, and gentrification is pushing way too many people into poverty.

For me as a German 28% taxes with an income of 63000$ a year, are seeming very low. Here in Germany you have to pay about 20% for social security + taxes. If you earn about 30000$ a year you have to pay about 10% income tax + 19% value added taxes + 20% for social security.\nIf you earn 63000$ you have to pay about 40% taxes + social security and value added taxes.\n\nBut when I did hear the costs just for rent, people in Canada have to pay, I understand that even 28% are hard.\nI am renting a 2 room appartment for 500$ in a normal town and I think from what I did hear, I would have a higher standard of living, even if I earn 1500$ after taxes a month, which is a low income, if you're working full time in Germany.\n\nAnd if I would live in a more expensive town or city, the country would help me with my rent, if I have a low income.
