So sad this made all Indians look bad! They all have to work together to make it a better place to live! Improvement is necessary! Calgary is getting worst too. They drive BMW and Mercedes and many of them did 50-100km over the speed limit. I wish there are more cameras around to catch these ugly drivers. Too much freedom is going to create more criminal!

I’m sick of it. Lived in Sauga most of my life, currently live in Calgary but when I go home I stay as FAR AWAY from Brampton as possible. It turns my stomach to see.

A good friend of mine lives in Northeast Calgary and I drove to her house right before Nick Shirley exposed all of the fraud in Minnesota. I'm only bringing that up so you understand where I'm coming from when I say this. I wasn't influenced by him finding these fraudulent daycares because this was prior to that. When I went to her house I had to Google maps it. Everybody in Calgary knows the Northeast is all Indian. As a matter of fact I counted how many people I saw that weren't Indian when I was there cuz I thought it was funny. I saw two white people and one Asian in the whole quarter of the city. When I got to her house I said to her why do you have so many businesses around your house it doesn't even make sense and then I showed her the Google maps and there had to be seven or eight daycares a trucking company and a bricklaying company and a drywall company. All of these businesses that don't have signs because I went and looked. These people are doing the same fraud here. This is what's killing our country. Our money is worthless because of them and they are taking all of the homes so homes are unaffordable for Canadians. On top of that they get into management and jobs and only hire their people and don't hire Canadians. We are under attack. It doesn't have to be somebody storming our beaches to attack us. Our country is under attack and we're in denial.

Do you think doing cash jobs will make you rich or something? These jobs are the jobs that no one in the right mind will do. The rates are pretty low and you will be treated like crap. People go to Brampton for cheaper rent. They start to make money usually they move out. We went to Scarborough for 3 months. Then moved to Mississauga and then to Toronto. Bought a house in Oakville and then sold that house and moved out West to Edmonton and then to Calgary. We now live in the States. So these things will happen to pretty much everyone. A few of them will stay in Brampton obviously.

As a brit living in Calgary, who is currently trying to jump through several hoops to try and gain PR, it's super tough and disheartening to see so many people here who don't speak english, don't work in a skilled profession, and don't engage with the Canadian community or culture. To expand on that, I have a great job in construction estimating on $85k a year, I speak fluent english (of course), I rent my own condo, my partner is Canadian and I have multiple Canadian friends. Yet, still I'm not convinced my PR visa will ever be granted. Then I walk into Tim Hortons or Subway and the foreign workers there can't understand a word I'm saying... how is that right??

As a black man living in Alberta you can stop with the ignorance right there. When it comes to racism I would much rather live in Edmonton or Calgary than literally anywhere in Ontario or Quebec. If this was in either of those provinces there would be way more than three people on site.

I’m from Mexico and I lived in Canada for 5 years back in 2009. Back then, Canada was the country where everyone wanted to migrate to. It was a dream. I was so fortunate to have been able to secure a job in a country that I had always dreamed of. I left bc I married my husband and moved to Louisiana. Now, I have a 3 bedroom house, a 2025 new car, three children and a well paying job. I’m not a millionaire, but I have a confortable life. My next door neighbors, moved from Calgary to Louisiana (where I live). This family, has a confortable life as well. I’m so sorry that all this happening to such a beautiful country. Canadians are one of the most welcoming people I have met.

Among five eyes countries, Canada is the easiest country for people to migrate to. For example Australia skill migrant program does not accept the flight attendant as the required talent. There is very slim chance that the flight attendant can get the PR through the skill migrant program in Australia. Canada is now getting into the trouble similar to the sub-prime crisis in US 15 years ago: too many people who are not the qualified immigrants arrived to Canada in past 2 years. They are leaving because the minimal hourly wages cannot support their living in the big cities like Toronto and Vancouver. \n2. High income tax ? In UK the top tax bucket is well over 40%. In Australia you need to pay 45% income tax plus 2% medical Levy surcharge\n3. High cost of living? I think the cost of living in London of UK and Sydney of Australia are also exceptionally high. The cost of living affordability depends on the income of the migrants. Low income working class will feel the cost of living and housing pressure. But this applies to all countries, including SF of US, Toronto of Canada, Sydney of Australia, London of UK\n4. Rise in crime: I do not understand this logic as the migrants left Canada to US - the city of LA, New York, Seattle and Chicago are far worse than in Canada \n5. Limited Career opportunities: the only country that has better career opportunities is US. What are the main reasons for those who are not migrating to US?\n\nIn summary, all the above points are not the main reasons. The main reason is the liberal government. Canada had taken a large number of wrong low end migrants in wrong time. When the economic downturn turn comes these are the most vulnerable group of people that should leave Canada.\n\nMany Canadian found that they resolved some of the problems by relocating from city to city ie moved from Vancouver to Calgary. So is it really worse than NYC, Chicago, San Francisco ? It sill does not sound as bad there as in those cities. Lots of Guns in the USA. Also, things are getting dicey in the USA after the 2024 election. Do people really have to live in Toronto ? or are the burbs outside it okay and on train lines into the city ? There's a lot of propaganda on here. I'm a real Canadian, and I'm doing great , as do most others I know. Of course if you want to live in Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary you will have a hard time getting ahead.

I am a born and raised Canadian and have seen my country go downhill for at least the last couple of decades.\nHealth Care: doctors and nurses are moving Stateside in droves. No, the US doesn’t have universal health care but there are insurance plans and the care is enormously better. My girlfriend had 4th stage throat cancer. In Calgary the doctors at some point told her there was nothing more they could do for her and to get her affairs in order. Her father sent her to the Anderson Clinic in Houston - yes it was expensive but they treated her, saved her life and that was 24 years ago. \nIt’s common in our emergency rooms to wait up to 12 hours to be seen. \nOur system isn’t progressive and doctors and nurses don’t get paid near as well as in the States. That being said, I am happy that I don’t have to pay to see the doctor or have a stay in the hospital. \nCost of Living: Once upon a time it was good - housing was cheap and many companies had the full range of benefits and salaries were equal to the cost of living. Now these same companies have stripped the benefits by hiring people under contract so they don’t have to give them benefits. \nRents are through the roof and in Calgary there are no rent caps. Buying a decent house in a decent neighbourhood is impossible unless you inherit or make a six figure income. This, in no small part, has created a homelessness crisis that never had been seen in such numbers before. Crime also is getting worse by the day. Canada was once known as a safe country. This is no longer the case.\nEverything is very expensive and the tax very high. Plus, we have to suffer winter! Where I live, the joke is that we have two seasons - July and winter!\nI still like my city (not love) but I am retired and own two houses - one inherited and the other bought when it was affordable (32 years ago). Calgary would not be a place I would live if I was a newcomer. Vancouver is beautiful but you really pay for it. \nTrudeau has helped make a big mess of things with immigration and lax criminal laws. My beef is not with immigrants I must state - it is with the lack of jobs for them when they come, thereby forcing bad living conditions and an over reliance on the social systems. I add that the immigration population is much more willing to work in jobs they have to take (despite a high education) than our natural and bloated citizens.\nSo yes, Canada has increasingly gone downhill. On a positive note, hand guns at least are not legal and our country has beautiful natural land.

How about this one I'm dual citizen Polish and Canadian long time loong time :) and I have polish passport that's needed and Canadian Polish one I just pay few bucks and I get it no signatures of acquaintances like in Canada. This year I'm not getting Candian renewed cause I have Polish Passport that let's me just like Canadian passport with a bit differnet rules as of EU it's much more and allows. if I don't have Candian passport but I fly in on Polish and I'm a Citizen of Canada as well, do I really need Candian Passport to fly into Canada and stay as long as I want yes I can but is it really needed well will I have problems or just a few minutes when I land in Van or Toronto or Edmonton or Calgary. should I need one. No I don't since I am a citizen of Canada and its in Candian computer all info at the border. will they place me in jail at the border caus ei a citizen of Canada with out Candian Passport flying in on Polish which allows travelling as for vacation 6 months in Canada. let me know Canada officials. Not so acurate information. During the college time students can work only 20h/week. Unless it has changed. \n\nAlso, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get permanent residency before graduation because you need Canadian experience (full time) for at least 1 year in specialized areas. \n\nOnly if you successfully complete your program you get the full time work visa per 3y. In this time it’s going to be possible TO APPLY for permanent residence. \n\nBut not only that. Canadian experience give you extra points in the immigration program, but also a Bachelor’s degree, or a master degree, work experience in your back country, English level, and age. \n\nI don’t know for certain countries if the rules are different, but as long as I know, it’s the same for everybody. \n\nWhen I came as an international student, I had to prove the college was paid, also show I had enough money to support myself for 1y without work. Also, the program at college that costs $4000/semester for a Canadian student, it costs $8-10.000 for an international student. \n\nMy work visa (during college) allowed me 20h per week working only. \n\nTo get my study visa approved I had to show intermediate English, money, work experience, Bachelor’s degree (I have also a master’s), and explain why I wanted to study in Canada and why that program was related to my current career. \n\nTalking about jobs; I have worked as a housekeeper in a hospital (on weekends). After I graduated I became supervisor. \n\nSome people complain about students and immigrants getting the jobs, but what I’ve seen was a lot of people complaining EVERY DAY about their jobs, about their lives, etc…but doing absolutely nothing to change it.\n\nI got here as a student, I became immigrant, I worked as a cleaner, I graduated at college.after 2y working full time I got the permanent residence, and I was back to school. \nI got a Master’s degree at McMaster University, and now I am a manager in a big hospital. \nImmigrants taking the jobs??? I don’t believe so. I did to deserve it. \n\nSo, don’t put everybody on the same basket. There are bad people I know, but also there are people willing to grow and make the country grow as well. \n\nLast, but not least, I don’t think the COUNTRY has more people that they can handle. I have been living in Calgary for 31 years now I never seeing so many Indian from India like now, it's too much, why the government brings people from only India, why they don't bring from other nationally like Mexico and Brazil or other European and Middle Eastern countries. It should be deffrent nationally not just from India

I am living in Canada right now and I agree with all the points mentioned however,\n1. As a lady I feel safe, no one judge me for my clothes, no one stare me disgustingly and no one consider I am his private property to assault.\n2. I feel safe when my kid goes outside to play. People here follows laws strictly. Vehicle stops even at signal allows them to proceed, always I repeat always driver signals me to proceed.\n3. I feel happy that my husband is valued in his office and much appreciated. His seniors credit him for his hard work and everyone here encourage us to have proper work life balance.\n4 I agree we pay high tax but atleast we are getting benefits in return. Public libraries, transport system are top notches. \n5. Banking, health care, all government facilities are very systematic. We were not even aware we have completed 18 months in Canada and we received letter from government stating very soon my son's child benefit will start. We didn't even enquired about it. They processed it automatically as per our arrival date.\n6. And lastly, we celebrated Independence Day here in Calgary, it was great event and all officers were protecting us. I clearly remember while dancing , huge Indian flag dropped down by a toddler and one Chinese officer,he picked it up and gave it to nearby adult.\n\nLife is valued, humans are respected,laws are followed here so I don't regret my decision of migrating but yes, honestly I do miss India as well and I am proud I am an Indian.

I have to be a bit bias as my parents moved us from the Rockies in Montana to Calgary, one of my favorite cities. I've lived on 4 continents, in 7 countries, and an island. Every place has been an adventure. Now living in Europe for the past 30+ years, and loving it in the Alps.

We all have our destiny to experience and live out. Sometimes we think the decisions we make are in our control. After leaving Vietnam, I never would have expected the life I have lived so far. After living in LA for a very long time, I decided to move, and it was the perverbial question, where? Leave the States totally, return to Calgary, or else where. A former company was finishing building a new facility in Australia, which I thought would be ideal having been a manager there. In between I took a trip to Europe for the first time, which caused me to rethink my plans. Two years later I moved to Europe, hook, line and sinker, no job, no place to live, no nothing, just did it. I have no regrets after 30+ years living, working, enjoying my life here. It's not for everyone, but it was my destiny. I've lived on 4 continents, 7 countries and on an island.

Hi Guys,\n\nI did live in Canada for 10 years and I left because of the cost of living.\nI had my own plumbing company and before I left I closed down my business and worked for a plumbing company full time and they paid me $42/h\nAlso my wife was making $32/h\n\nWe made decent money But Trudeau took half of it.\nMy car insurance was $4700 per year, rent for a bungalow just the top floor (3 bed 1 bath) $2400 in Calgary plus utilities plus we had another family renting basement, bungalow like apartment building.\n\nIt’s not worth it, I am a plumber and gas fitter (red seal) well educated individual with 20 plus year experience and my wife is social worker with 20 year experience and we both speak fluent and English. Most people thought that we were Canadian even though English not our first language\n\nTrudeau doesn’t want experienced and educated people.\nCanada is a rip off

So many people from elsewhere came here (Calgary), drove up inflation and housing costs, imported values inconsistent with those that made Canada great. And here we are... I don't know many Calgarians that were born here... that still want to live here. Hoping to sell my house soon and move an hour East of the city. Looking for a community with good values to raise my children.

I grew up in Canada..Calgary to be more specific. I have now been away for 10 years, living in Chile. I go visit every couple of years and I understand completely, id have a hard time moving back. Maybe for people who have arrived in the last few years it seems fine, but for the rest of us that remeber how it was 15, 20 or 30 years ago..its a shocking change. The big cities are full of drugs and homeless, which increases crime. Its expensive and good jobs are hard to come by. It seems to me 2015 was the turning point and only these last 2 or 3 years are Canadians realizing the mess that has been created.

I came to Calgary in 1983, and since then, I've seen Canada change for the better and worse. I moved back to my native country of Malaysia in 1997 and lived and worked there until 2012. I can honestly say that my native country is so much cheaper to live. I don't need to wait months to see a specialist and wait over an hour to see my family doctor despite already booking an appointment. Doctors just want to get you out of their office fast so they can see more patients. Got a second health concern, well, book another appointment. What a joke! In Malaysia, I can get full body check-ups, including x-ray, ECG, and blood work, including results the same day. What's the use of free health care if the service takes donkey months? I've decided to move back to Malaysia in about two year's time and enjoy the warm weather and cheaper cost of living. Canada is a GREAT country, but the elected government just screwed things up. Will miss the Calgary Stampede for sure.

I worked for a Canadian company for 25 years living in the USA, California / Silicon Valley specifically and spent days in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver - great place but probably has been run-down by wrong Government policies just like the USA - first blame is always on immigrants even though majority of them (especially in the USA) do jobs that Americans or Canadians do not want to do - farm work, construction work and services while 50% do get proper education and find good jobs and build up the community\nPolitics in the USA and Canada has gone so bad in recent years almost everyone is thinking of moving back to native country or find other affordable places - easier decision at the age of 33 but not 66\nWherever you go, I am guessing it will be around Bali, good luck and may you have all the success you strive for and deserve!

I am sorry to hear this. I am in the same boat. I moved here around 37 years ago and found this country much better compared to my old country, especially when the army killed students. I decided to stay in Calgary, Canada. What makes me sad is seeing Canada going down the drain. While seeing everything getting worse, my old country becomes a prosperous, advanced and powerful country. My classmates back there were mostly high-level leaders, and some of them became elites. As the best student in the class, I could not get position even close to theirs. Only good thing is that I have been making a lot of money due to my strong technical knowledge and the capability to do difficult work. I hope I can at least maintain the same living standard when i am old, but it looks less and less certain. If I realized this at your age, I would have moved back.

I’m not sure it’s better anywhere else. I’m Canadian living in Calgary and this is the best place to be in my opinion with everything I like and still do. \nI’m considering moving to the US for work but I’m not sure that will be permanent. Hey! I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada,population around 1.2 million. We have a huge awesome river and river valley that is utilized year round. There are non stop festivals, right now we have the Cari West the largest Caribbean festival in western Canada. Our tap water is amazing, my daughter rents the main floor of a renovated house that includes a garage for 1,400 a month. Gorgeous south side neighbourhood within walking distance to anything. Lots of imperfections as it is a big city and yes there is crime but it does not define what I do and where I go except possibly late at night. The cold in the winter is tolerable for the most part but that doesn’t stop any one from outdoor activities. Just put your warm clothes on and just get out there. I get fed up with winter when it drags on but all of a sudden we’ve been having record breaking heat this summer so I am looking forward to Autumn. We’re 4 hours from the fabulous Rocky Mountains and the wonderful city of Calgary is about an hour 1/2 from there. Alberta is my province and Edmonton is my home. The rest of Canada varies from one province to another. PS. We’ve travelled to various locations in the U.S. and were always treated well and enjoyed our visits, just sayin!

I was living in Calgary for 6 months, I’m from the UK, and I thought it was great? Groceries was a bit more expensive I suppose, but eating out was cheaper, rent was a lot cheaper, and your overall tax is much better than uk. \n\nJust one example is the Airbnb I stayed in was 1000 pounds a month, but when I stayed in Airbnb in uk (much worse too) it was 2000 pounds a month.

No wonder places like Vancouver or any of the bigger cities have a lot of homeless. When people can't afford to live in Vancouver or Toronto they bring their problems ? other cities like in places like Calgary.

Why would they keep immigrants there in NY city instead of sending them to Alaska so they do something productive there? The USA should learn a bit more from Canada. I lived there and their immigration system was great because you could get a workplace from the industries that needed workers that couldn't find Canadian workers. Usually you could get a job that is heavy since most Canadians wouldn't like to work building houses or as welders or anything that is heavy-duty. And those job offers used to be located in the north provinces like prince Edward Island or newfoundland, etc etc... and become a permanent resident there in about a year or two. While in Ontario or BC you could get a PR in 5 to 10 years after graduating from college. Immigrants would go to Northern provinces for sure unless they have a big, huge, insulting budget to spend by living in the main cities like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or Calgary or Winnipeg.

quebec is not the best province unless you only speak french. it used to be, about 50 years ago. but they heve destroyed the english community and along with it, the province with their draconian language laws. i have been descriminated against, by the police, government agencies, some store workers and french citizens (who tell me to go back where i came from) here in quebec. montreal used to be canadas largest and best city but now it has fallen to 2nd place and rapidly approaching 3rd. toronto has surpassed it, vancouver is quickly catching up, and calgary, edmonton, halifax are all growing but montreal has stagnated. i know, ive lived here all my life. there is nobody left who i grew up with. friends and family have all moved on to better places. and none of them regret it. i have been to vancouver, calgary, new brunsdwick, nova scotia and P.E.I., and i believe all of them are better than living in quebec. there is a reason why rents are cheaper in montreal, but it is catching up to the rest of the country. and there is a large homeless community. i would put quebec at 8th or 9th. and B.C. number 1 with P.E.I. 2nd.

IF you want to live anywhere in Canada - be sure to land in provinces that are either Liberal and/or NDP in political attitude.\nI feel so bad for her and others - I hate this crap... and it has escalated since the Trump took the Presidency in 2016. \nAlberta is very much the closest thing to a American state that I hate to admit.\nPLEASE REMEMBER: there are sooo many of us that welcome you - Canada is full of every ethnicity and religion... but Edmonton, man - pick Ontario or Quebec. I live in Calgary with a spouse and two kids and what most people would consider successful and it is nothing what I would have expected. We are mid 30s with a high household income and still struggle. We are self made (no family help) and between the house, kids, and insanely high living costs (think food, taxes, insurance, transportation...ect) we just get by. We struggle and then I think of the families making the average income and it blows my mind. I don't know how all the parents out there do it. This country is broken. Housing is insane, every industry is dominated by one or two corporations putting the screws to everyone making the cost of living unsustainable, and the government taxes you into the ground...how long can it really last

I have been living in Alberta since 2014. A two bedroom apartment near YYC was around $1350 per month in 2019, is now $2050 monthly as of July 2024. There is no cap on rent increase in Alberta so the apartment management companies and house owners are increasing the rent to whatever amount they want! The increase of immigrants moving into Calgary is worsening the housing crisis and the government has no control over this! Transit system is very weak for a fastest growing city like Calgary, not enough buses on the road which is allowing car dealers to sell cars on high prices on higher interest rate and banks and insurance companies are taking advantage of all these. Most employers in Calgary pay $17-$18 per hour maximum wage which is impossible for families to live on. Horrible time ahead for Albertans if govt. fails to take immediate action.

i am earning 100k per Year which is considered a good income in Canada and still cannot pay my rent and other expenses and i am living in Calgary which considered cheap this is Reality, 100k lets break down 40k goes into tax and i got almost 5k per month now if i buy a 500k home which will b not a home just an Old apartment so my mortgage will b 4k per month ? so Dream is over

Come to Alberta lol cheap living but here's the kicker you'll be paid a lot less in your field of work . Oh and rent in Calgary is avg. $1800 per month + hydro try making that work on your $15 -$18 per hour job
