It is absolutely wild the difference in immigration now vs pre-2015. I had a brief marriage in my early 20’s to a man that was a Turkish PR and when we had our child in 2012 - back when Kenney was minister - we were unable to get a 3 week visitor visa approved for his mother and 17 year old sister to come to Halifax from Istanbul to meet the baby because they were considered at risk for not leaving. This is despite my former MiL providing documents showing she had property, a business and an ailing husband to return to. They appealed the decision once, the result was the same and they were then told they couldn’t re-apply for a certain length of time. We ended up taking the baby there when he was a few months old as it was so much easier. Now everything’s a free for all

Another fact if a skilled immigrant like a Doctor come to Canada under a skilled immigrant program , apply wait in home country and gets his PR before coming.. the doc need to show funds to support him/her and the family. He/she gets shit from the Govt , the Doc has to spend his/her own money to get credentials recognized, go back to uni at own cost . While asylum seekers gets everything free doing shit all day.

My supervisor has over stayed her work visa by almost a year. Says because she applied for an extension she won't get deported even though that extension won't likely be approved for another year.

Our family came from a pacific Island back in 74....we applied the honest way and parents had an interview and medical exam, and criminal check and then we were approved to come to Canada. It’s a problem here in Canada. They aren’t heading to the USA basically all of them stay cause it’s just easy. Nobody would have a problem if they made an effort to assimilate and some do but the ones who don’t ruin the image for the rest of them. Other obvious problem is we’ve let in too many people in in general like more people have come than living units have been built making many problems just right there and then and it’s not really the people who immigrates fault it’s the government. This is the system: Student immigrates to Canada on a student Visa, gets a Diploma which they use to get a Post-Graduation Work Permit, this is used to get Permanent Residence (PR). After 3 years apply for Citizenship, which makes it easier to bring their parents into Canada. Those parents apply for PR, then wait 3 years, after which they can also apply for Citizenship. If they are 55+ years old, they don't need to take the test or prove they can speak the English. They just apply and get become Citizens. All of this while enjoying the benefits of a Socialized Healthcare, Old Age Pension after 65+, Canada Child Benefit paid to parents with kids under 18, and more. This is not a sustainable economic model, we WILL run out of money. Technically we already have 😂

Countries with massive populations should be at the bottom of the list for immigration. It's just common sense, we already have 1.5 BILLION indians, so why would we want them migrating in large numbers to other countries too?! The same applies to Africans. From a practical standpoint, White-majority nations should be protected from demographic change. Even as an Indian, the whole situation is insane and astounding to say the least. Hindu Nationalism has spread its roots & conducts marches in Canada within the Indian Hindu areas like they do here in India and people have started performing river aartis as well (communal prayers to worship rivers) — all kinds of pernicious identitarianism is festering there. A ton of Indian immigrants now see Canada merely as a source to better life & resources, but relate to, & are patriotic towards India or assert their rawer religious Sikh or Hindu identity due to lack of any assimilatory pressure & absence of a well defined Canadian identity. As a Southeast Asian, I can understand why countries like the United States, Canada, or those in Europe are concerned about immigration levels. Wanting to prevent any single immigrant group from becoming disproportionately large is not necessarily about racism, but about maintaining social balance and protecting opportunities for the local population. Many Asian countries feel the same way—we would not want large numbers of foreigners, whether Russian, American, or from elsewhere, to migrate in such a way that they dominate job markets or significantly alter the local social structure. This perspective applies universally, not just in Western countries. From this viewpoint, it seems reasonable for countries to manage immigration by maintaining a balance between native citizens and immigrants. Setting limits or proportions for different immigrant groups can be seen as a way to preserve social stability while still allowing controlled and fair immigration.

The irony of these racist comments is incredible. Many in the US and Canada forget they are also descendants of migrants. If we applied this same logic, Native populations would have every right to say you 'messed up' their culture centuries ago.

We have the same driving issues coming into Springfield, Missouri. I see it all the time, especially on the northern part of town. People bring their bad driving habits to the United States and pretend that the traffic laws don't apply to them. For some reason, many countries ignore road safety and because of that, they bring it to other countries who do take it seriously and ruin everything.

East Coast Canadian here. Thankfully the non existent provinces beyond eastern Quebec are thankful it's not as bad here. The majority of TimHorton's & Wendy's employees are flown into the Charlottetown airport, housed & trained on site & then spreadout across the country from there. The Government is paying the majority of their minimum wage and business owners pay pennies for them! They will also work more hours than others. Our own people are being ignored when they apply for jobs so that its not considered discrimination. They can easily claim the immigrants applied first.

In Canada, we imported almost 10% of our population is the last five years, the majority of whom came from India. There's no doubt that Indian culture is not the same as Canadian culture, and importing such a massive number so quickly means we are far more likely to see those cultures bumping up against each other, rather than giving them a chance to assimilate and blend. Like any good cook, I know if you try to add the eggs too quickly and in too much of a hurry, you get scrambled eggs in weak sauce, not a thick creamy custard. Same principle applies to immigration. We need to give people the time and chance to learn and absorb our culture and values, else we end up with ghettos and a weakened society.
