Of course the Liberals don't know what is going on. If they knew what was going on then they could be held accountable and it appears that is something no Liberal wants. They don't want to take responsibility ever for anything that they do and they rely on equally inept voters to keep them in office. As to the subject at hand, Canadians should not be responsible for immigrants or people claiming asylum health costs for anything past their first 6 months here. Going past 6 months indicates that they have yet to gain employment and are living off our backs. Those who are still here after being turned back should be located and sent packing immediately regardless of their present standing. For example, someone came here and was rejected but never left. Today they get picked up and now they claim they have a family here. They should still be removed because if they had left when they were supposed to they wouldn't have that family now would they. Yes, it may appear to be harsh but is it not harsh to use the funds provided by people who have a legal right to be here to support those who never should have been here?

It's not race that makes countries great or bad. Since there is just one human race. Its the culture that makes places great. Culture or shared ideas among the populace. Specially ideas of being open minded, living and letting live, freedom, being tolerant etc. These are the best ideas or culture that if held long enough by the majority of the people will turn that place into a great civilization indeed. Every great civilization of history was built through this culture in history. persian empire, macedonian empire, roman empire, british empire and now the united states etc... were/are all very diverse and very tolerant of indians and their ideas... cultural exchange of ideas through indians and receiving diverse viewpoints which helped them become great. However great empires, great places and civilizations never last. They fall down. They fall down once the culture changes. which is natural since culture is not static but dynamic, since it exists only in the minds of people, it can change in the same generation, or in the next - all it takes is replacing existing ideas with other ideas in the minds of people large enough. This is what we are seeing happening in canada and India... a shift of culture. The same culture of responsible for turning India into a terrible country is being adopted by canadians. Meanwhile for the past few decades.. india on the other hand has been adopting the better culture and growing slowly and steadily with many mistakes and hurdles along the way towards a brighter future... slowly because its huge... steadily because it knows where to go.... mistakes and hurdles because its an open democracy... If this cultural shift keeps continuing this way... There will come a time where canada would look more like afghanistan and India will look like the us or scandinavia... However i hope thats not the case. and its just a phase that does not lead to some significant revolution in terms of peoples thinking.

This cannot happen soon enough. Canadians are dieing in vast numbers on our highways from these folks unable to drive in our systems. Cars are stolen in large numbers, extortion is rampant, home invasion is at an all time high. These folks obviously are not responsible for all of it but they play a big part in the problem. Just like with the rest of our problems here in Canada 🇨🇦; we can’t keep saying “it’s not as bad as the U.S, so it’s ok. No need to panic” - this attitude has to end. Please help me understand why mass migration is considered beneficial. I believe globalization has very significant drawbacks. My primary concern is for my fellow Canadians "ONLY." It seems that the increase in new residents is driven largely by political motives, as new migrants often support the Liberal Party due to the benefits they receive upon arrival. Both the Liberal government in Canada and the Democrats in the United States appear to be aware of this trend. Regardless of political affiliation—whether Liberal, Conservative, Green, or any other party—if my party were to adopt such a policy, I would oppose it. Canadians really need to wake up. We need responsible citizenship that upholds and strengthens our Canadian culture and values.

As a Canada who speaks both French and English and who follows politics quite closely, I have to say that the headline and some of the reporting here is quite misleading. A reduction in immigration has broad support across Canada. I wouldn't say that notion is dividing the country in any significant way. You do have certain industry groups that disagree, but among the population these reductions have broad support. This is a historic change in public opinion in Canada, but it has been driven by the unprecedented increase in immigration under the last term of the Trudeau government. To put this in context, non-permanent residents in Canada numbered around 1.5 million on Q3 2023, but by Q3 2025, that number sat a just over 3 million. The previous government increased immigration targets by 3 or 4 times over what they had been for years, which caused a number of economic issues. Essentially, the volume was simply too high for the economy and society to support. This was unfair to both Canadians and new comers, many of which could not find employment or afford a decent place to live. The changes being suggested are largely bringing Canada back to what the targets were for over a decade before, though a bit lower to account for the sudden surge. Canada remains one of the most pro-immigration countries in the world. However, and this is where I think DW's reporting is misleading, there is a distinction to be made between policies at the federal level and policies at the provincial level. Immigration, per our constitution, is a federal matter, however, Quebec in particular is distinct from other provinces. I don't mean only culturally and linguistically, but also in the powers that have been devolved to it by the federal government. On the question of immigration, Quebec has more powers and more ability to set its immigration targets and programs than any of the other 9 provinces. The particular program discussed here, the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ), is a particular immigration stream that only existed in Quebec. So what is happening with that program cannot be labeled as a whole-of-Canada thing. Where the changes to the PEQ are controversial, unlike the general changes at the federal level, is that people who immigrated under that specific program were promised certain things. There was a multi-year time line to Permanent Residency and then Citizenship. Many of those people have been in Quebec for 5-8 years already. However, the changes made to the program were done in such a way where people who many years into the program, had gotten an education, started a career, had children, ect. are now being told they can't continue and must leave Canada. There are even stories of people who married Canadians, now have children, and the one parent who was under this program now faces the possibility of having to leave Canada and be separated from their family. All through no fault of their own. That is what many people see as unfair, and I agree, however limiting future applications under the program, to bring in less people, that is not controversial. Canada has no responsibility to bring in people who are not already in Canada, but Canada does have some responsibility towards people who uprooted their lives to move to Canada and built new lives here based on promises and representations made to them by the Canadian and Quebecois governments. We should no simply kick those people out of the country.

DO NOT do the deal if they are the selling agent, and NEVER sign any paperwork they give you. We call it P----i paperwork. Do not sign it. Period. If they are the selling agent, walk away. Please spread the word. Their behavior is an ORGANIZED assault on the Canadian real estate and financial system, and it demands Canadians to deliver an organized response in rejection of this behavior. Boycott.

Worst thing that ever happened to Canada. I can't even begin to describe how my community has changed. I don't even recognize it anymore. Spent my entire life in a small town and for some unknown reason it is part of a "designated resettlement zone." There are more Indians than whites - it's insane. Local businesses have closed, new businesses catering to Indians have opened. Littering is rampant. Homes aren't taken care of. It's a tragedy. 70% of Canadians don't want these levels of immigration - hell, even *immigrants* don't want more immigrants. Justin Trudeau, his Liberal government, and the traitors over at the Century Initiative are 100% responsible for this irrevocable destruction of Canadian culture.

What bothers me is how this conversation has been reduced to blaming one group. That policy failure created pressure on housing, jobs, and social systems long before resentment followed. We also need honesty within the Indian community. Some Indians struggle to adapt being overly loud, culturally rigid, and sometimes lacking empathy for Canadian norms and shared public spaces. I studied Canadian and Indigenous history in school, and respecting that history matters. Assimilation doesn’t mean abandoning your culture, but it does mean understanding and respecting the society you chose to join. Cultural education should be expected, not optional. That said, one Indian doing something wrong does not make all Indians bad. Most Indian students and workers I know are hardworking, punctual, and serious about contributing. I’ve personally worked minimum-wage jobs for years, and what I noticed was not jobs being “taken,” but fewer Canadian youth willing to stay in or commit to these roles long-term. Indians didn’t replace Canadians, they filled vacancies that already existed. I also briefly volunteered helping the homeless, and what I saw was honestly shocking. It’s not that the government isn’t trying to help there are rehabilitation programs and support systems in place. The difficult truth is that a significant portion of the homeless population struggles with substance abuse and refuses treatment because it requires giving up drugs. Over time, homelessness itself starts to function like a culture, where benefits and assistance unintentionally enable continued substance use rather than recovery. This is an uncomfortable reality people don’t like to talk about. None of this is simple. Immigration didn’t break Canada, and neither did one community. Poor policy, weak enforcement, lack of accountability, and refusal from governments and individuals to adapt responsibly is what brought us here. Blame is easy. Honest solutions are not.

All people except the Native people are immigrants or offspring of immigrants. Absolutely, embracing diversity and promoting equality are essential steps toward creating a more inclusive and harmonious society. Recognizing that everyone has unique backgrounds and perspectives can enrich our communities and foster understanding. Working together to build a better future for ourselves and generations to come is a shared responsibility that benefits us all. We cannot label people based on our perception. The contrast between immigrants, many from India, and the rhetoric of those who now feel like a new minority was striking. It should not surprise me that racism appears anywhere humans are, but what stood out was how some speakers treated all Indians as a single people, despite hundreds of cultures, and accused them of failing to assimilate to ‘their way.’ Many of those voices were themselves descendants of immigrants who were once pressured to abandon Norwegian or other identities in the name of assimilation. Yet there was little evidence they had actually spent time getting to know their Indian neighbors, their cultures, friendships, or daily realities. Instead, the focus was fear and a narrative of societal collapse, rather than honest engagement that separates real local issues from blanket blame. Of course, any local community can have problems, and some groups can be unwelcoming. But the argument presented implied there is only one way to be Canadian. That echoes xenophobic rhetoric in the US about who counts as ‘American,’ often while ignoring the reality of Indigenous peoples entirely. I do not deny the importance of shared commitments like the rule of law, freedom, and evidence based policy rooted in the Enlightenment and scientific thinking. But culture and learning can coexist with those values. What troubled me most was how poverty and discrimination were replaced with racial generalizations, and how victim language was used to deflect responsibility, something that resembles DARVO. Given the same conditions, these problems could arise in any group, regardless of race.

I've lived in Surrey BC for most of my life, I'm an avid outdoors enthusiast and like most Canadians respect and admire nature's beauty. Years ago they built a pond on an undeveloped lot next to my neighborhood. It was a beautiful addition to the town as it allowed wildlife a place to find shelter, while giving us a little nature loop within walking distance. On multiple occasions I have caught people dumping literal truckloads of their households' trash into this small forest on a backroad I frequent. When confronted they laugh it off, and generally don't appear to see that what they're doing is wrong. The pond itself is also filled with crap, despite the posted signs informing of the harm this causes the ecosystem. From my (and most people who live here) experience it is overwhelmingly a single demographic that is responsible for the uncleanness in our shared spaces. Any BC resident can tell you about the access to beautiful nature we are privileged to, and I hate more than anything to see it being desecrated in the way I have. Most people will not speak up about this.

All international students are required to provide documents and statement letters in their student visa applications to prove that they intend to return to their home countries after their studies. The only thing that is expected (not guaranteed in any way) is a post-graduation work permit to give them a chance to acquire Canadian work experience and have enough points to apply for permanent residency if they choose to. The government should only be responsible for those who were already selected and approved for residency before changes to the regulations. All future applicants should be evaluated based on the latest changes. That is not new, and all current immigrant citizens had to adapt to the changes to requirements back in their time as well.

This dependency is projected to lead to the implementation of digital identification systems, biometric tracking, and other dystopian technological measures. These politicians on both sides are NOT humanists. The overarching aim is not merely human advancement but transhumanism — merging humans with technology — which is pure evil, even demonic, a plan to transform human existence radically. Why blame India for this issue? An entire ecosystem lures students with false promises of a better life in Canada, charging them exorbitant fees, often around $60,000. This system begins with the overstaffed Canadian embassy in India, which issues visas, enabling those who profit from this cheap labor in canada. India itself is not responsible. In fact, when Indian authorities raised concerns about criminals exploiting this system to flee to Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau deflected by accusing India in the Nijjar case. White Canadians also share responsibility, as they have not taken the time to understand this issue. Indians who migrated to Canada before 2021 are likely to suffer due to this situation.

It's hilarious that even now Canadians will not say a word against these majority white politicians and bureaucrats. Even at this table, there are 2 whites, 1 East Asian and 1 South Asian. Yet the entire country just wants the South Asians out. You will not hold a single one of your kind responsible for what is predominantly a white political and bureaucratic body. How come they are so ignorant of these serious things going on in their govt? It’s time for accountability—not just from executives who profit from these schemes, but also from the politicians who enable them through inaction or ignorance. These individuals, who came here from India under the guise of being students, later sought asylum and are now receiving government support funded by Canadian taxpayers—while many Canadian youths struggle to find employment. I deeply commend Madam Michelle Rempel Garner for courageously raising this issue, which has long been ignored by corporate executives and their political allies who bear significant responsibility for the country's current challenges.

Those who had fake visas, also perfectly knew the fact and pretended to be innocent with lies. Instead of following regulations, they started rioting in city squares, in city parks, making noise, throwing garbage. "Halt on Deportations: In response to the scandal, the Canadian government paused the deportation of the implicated students to investigate the situation further and consider alternative solutions.  Review of Cases:A process was put in place to review the cases of the affected students, particularly those who were victims of the fraud.  Fake Admissions:The students obtained their Canadian visas through a fraudulent agent who provided fake admission offers from Humber College, leading to their entry into the country.  Loss of Status:Upon discovering the fake letters, the students were deemed to have lost their study permit status, making them subject to deportation by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).  Political Pressure:The New Democratic Party (NDP) in Canada called on the government to not deport these students, highlighting their exploitation and the circumstances under which they were brought to Canada.  Crackdown on Scammers:The government and authorities also began cracking down on the agents and fraudulent institutions that facilitated this scam, as the students were often unaware of the forged nature of their documents, according to the Canadian Federation of Students.  Advocacy for Students:Organizations and Members of Parliament (MPs) called on the government to show leniency towards the students, highlighting their victim status and advocating for waivers of deportation.

I see this is more of a Canadian government immigrations policies are responsible for the situation Brampton is in. I lived there for 10 yrs but moved on for past 5 yrs now. Unchecked rampant liberal immigration has led to this. We should not single out one particular community though, it will not help the current situation anyway.

For nearly 20 years, Conservatives have been warning Canadians about the challenges we are now facing but every time, they were dismissed and branded as “racist” for simply pointing out the obvious. Meanwhile, grassroots Canadians along with immigrants who came here in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s had one goal in mind to work hard, build a better life, and help "make Canada a stronger and more prosperous country". Their efforts over the last 60 years are clear in the Canada we inherited. In contrast, the Liberal and NDP approach has been to ignore these warnings and push policies that are eroding the very foundations of what made this country thrive. Instead of focusing on integration, responsibility, and opportunity, they are enabling divisions and importing problems rather than solutions. So, to the commenters who keep voting Liberal and NDP: thank you because you are ensuring this decline will continue.

Meanwhile immigrants get more welfare than hard working Canadians and they disrespect Campbada. Carney and the Trudeau Liberals appointed Liberal judges who refuse to uphold our laws but make their decisions based on their own opinion. We have immigrants like Indians, from India, and now they have built a 50’ idol of their god, and we allow Palistinians to terrorize our citizens while we give them sanctuary here. This is not a co-incidence. If you voted Liberal then you are just as responsible as the Liberal government who brought us to this state.

While the end result is the actual "immigrant", you can tell these new immigrants all day and night to go back to their country... The immigrant themselves will be looking at you like... Huh? Why? Trudeau's campaign on bringing 500,000 a year made this a field day for everyone around the world... Furthermore the campaigns they would have in other countries to literally sell the idea for them to apply to become an immigrant in Canada. The libs are 100% responsible for what is happening now... For me to tell an immigrant, the he/she is not wanted here is not relevant... The government sold them the pitch to come here for a better life.... Trudeau allowed other loopholes to happen too.... Migrants through applying to colleges and universities, migrants through the liberal foreign work program and the list goes on. Now we have a problem and everyone sees it.... The question is what do we do as Canadians... I exercised my vote for blue...but we still had a majority of liberal supporters which was not just surprising but it seemed that people think Conservatives are bad people who are racist and want to follow trumps steps... i begged to differ.... I think what many of us are aiming for is a cleaning up of liberal policies... And stop immigration from ALL PLACES. Allow Canada to re-coop, reestablish and redevelop what it always was.

Canadians aren't having kids because we're responsible and know we CANNOT AFFORD to have children, so i guess instead of doing something about the cost of living in this country, the government has just decided to REPLACE us with IMMIGRANTS!! I'm a proud Canadian Immigrant of Indian origin. I came here to do specialized studies in Game Development. I took my time, and studied 6 years as an international student, paying 3x the tuition, sank $200,000 of hard earned money into the Canadian Education system — Not as a fast track gimmick to immigrate, but so I could achieve my dream as a Game Developer. This money was family income, earned on 1/4th the salary, taking 4x longer to save. I was a great privileged to me. Today 15 years later, no one would ever think I'm from India. I sound Canadian, I behave Canadian, I have Canadian values, and I am Canadian. I came here because I loved Canada. I would watch hours upon hours of indigenous history, and on my Citizenship day, I watched Juno Beach to celebrate. However I must say this... I suffered through s*icidal depression here for 8 years, because I had far less leverage here than in a developing country, and it's really telling what sort of situation we're all in... Rent caps in Canada were removed... The housing market was open to foreign investors / and real estate monopolies with a 20% year-on-year rise... Rents went from 1000$ to 2100$ MINIMUM for a 1 bedroom through Trudeau's term and the govt said "It's not a federal responsibility"... Auto insurance is like 2.5-3.5k a year in Ontario and if you get a dent, you pay a deductable... I was quoted 8500$ for two wisdom teeth surgeries while it costed me 260$ abroad... During Covid - property owners, banks, and grocery stores exploited our misery and made record profits!... The govt stopped filtering through it's immigrants with "interviews", and it's operating like a scam — "Bring all your foreign money, convert it to CAD, and keep our GDP stable.. while we neither have the infrastructure, nor the job market to support these numbers". I think some accountability is due... these issues are "symptoms", not the problem — The problem is our Liberal govt / policies, and our wonderful voting body who voted Liberal term after term after term while complaining. Why does this govt safeguard extremism, foreign politics, foreign separatism? Khalistanis are as much of a threat / nuance to India than it is to Canada, but in Canada they actually have a unrestricted platform. Instead of resenting immigrants, we need to start resenting how mismanaged Canada is by our govt, and hold our voting body accountable. We had a chance to vote differently, but once again a repackaged and rebranded Liberal term. Because my ethnicity is Indian, I've become an object of collective resentment / hatred, and I don't think that's fair.. Please direct it at your vote, and govt level policies. Why should I (and other's like me) be crucified with the sins of other immigrants? It's like hating all your neighbors in a burning building, when the management has been lighting the fire.
