RE: Canadian healthcare, my wife broke both her hips in 2017 in two separate falls, she was admitted immediately to hospital without delay and operated on the next day (half hip replacement), after physio and occupational therapy she was discharged and provided Homecare, 16 times per week plus weekly Day Hospital. Our cost for both operations was roughly $160.00 for parking spots for me so I could visit her and about $140 in Tim Horton doughnuts for staff. The system does not have enough of certain types of specialists thus wait times for those specialists, and there are wait times for elective surgery. The system has not really been reviewed since its inception in the 1960s but making significant changes is the third rail of Canadian politics and a hard look is justified after 70 years. Re: illegal crossings; The gentleman in the video has a problem in that the US and Canada have signed a “safe country” agreement and neither will accept refugees from the other as both Canada and the US are deemed “safe havens”. He crossed illegally, if he had crossed legally he would have been immediately turned back at the border but he clearly entered the country between border crossings and was likely arrested and released on recognizance but not returned immediately as the agreement is silent on illegal entries (yes, seems a touch strange). As many people are leaving the US for Canada the system is overwhelmed. Tent cities have been set up in Quebec and public housing used in Manitoba to house illegal immigrant pending processing - those with criminal records are held for deportation. Canada has accepted roughly 25,000 Syrian refugees from camps in that part of the world. These refugees were first vetted by the UN then Canada. These refugees are completely different from the people crossing the border illegally from the United States. This pales to the 75,000 boat people accepted after the fall of Saigon. Canadians have been generally accepting of refugees but wants the process guided by the rule of law. Immigrants are a separate from refugees and the rules governing their entries into Canada are different.

I've been hearing a lot about El Salvadore lately and this super high murder rate they got there. Of course anyone could be caught in a crossfire but are they really just picking random dudes up off the street to murder? I imagine the stats are MUCH lower when you control for things like gang involvement and other criminal behavior.

So I'm in a dilemma of whether I should move down to Florida and live with my American girlfriend, or stay up here and support her moving up here in Canada. My main issue is health care. I just hear many people have bad service and poor treatment with insurance down there, but it all depends what insurance your applying with. People are fairly nice, but there are also some douche bags as well so I'm not surprised. With my overall budget, I could likely stay down there for about a few months or so. Here in Canada, taxes are a little higher, but it's worth it (Some idiot said our taxes are lower), health care is paid for, winters are cold but anyone can survive through it. Some say Canada is a socialist (which is Not -_-). Liberal party is ruining Canada as it is in a way. But again, it's better Justin than Trump. (Betting for Scheer). Idk, politics is bad in both countries I say. Idk, I'm likely missing some things here. Should I move down with my girlfriend, or stay up and support her moving up here?

when I was 17 I was followed by a store detective. As I was leaving the store, in a very loud voice she accused me of stealing an item. Many people heard, and she had me go in the back storage area, demanding to look through my purse. I refused and told her the item in question I had placed on the shelf, as I did not have enough money to buy it. She told the stock boys not to let me leave and went to check the shelf after I refused to let her search my purse. She came back with the item and told me I could leave. I said I wasn`t going until she apologized to me. She said, ``I`m not going to apologize to you.` She sneered. The detective was black. I am white. I was the victim of racial profiling. This happened in a Shoppers. I wish I had known I was entitled to $8,000.00 like the lady in this film. I am sick of shows like these that racially target whites. To be fair, send a white person in a black neighbourhood store, and see what happens.

Living in Latin America is not that bad, well there are parts where you should avoid at all cost but there are places where you can have a safe decent life, most of you just say what comes out of your small little brains without ever even leaving your city your whole life. Its just that this people have lived and been so dependent from your system and in stretching their hands( beg) all this time that they not know what to do now. \n\nHe said that he wasted 15 thousand dollars in lawyer, if it would have been me I could have perfectly moved to lets say Costa Rica or Peru and still have money to buy land. But they really are addicted to this kind of life. This central american guy is no real refugee. He is just a law breaker who violated immigration laws so he could bypass the legal system and those who actually go through the process. Not only did he violate US and Canadian territory but also Mexican as well. I understand his motives, but no sympathy here for law breakers like him. There is an immigration process and he must respect it.

So if you were in such a dire situation, dont you think you would do anything to get out? The only solution i see is if the entire world could be under a larger, strong governing force that keeps leaders in check and can withold vital resources from offenders. The UN isnt cutting it.

The fact that developed countries are starting to close off their borders to low skilled immigration for lack of resources and employment could be a sign of the times and automation will eventually take over. What's next? Start thining the herd of low skilled workers at home by making homelessness a crime? Bringing back coal alone cannot save the US. Well have to wait and see.

If I was South America I’d stay in my country, work & have as best a life as I could with what’s there. The American dream isn’t for non Americans to dream about or let alone Canada. Can you show the professor to Belgium please. I prefer a Canadian over an American or a German because our racism exceeds all borders. On a daily basis I experience black racism on an unheard scale. People come to me and explain they feel totally excluded from our society even when they contribute to it by (mostly manual) hard labor and social or political engagement. Maybe a Canadian profile could get some acceptance in Belgium. Same thing goes for Hindi, Asian and Muslim people. walmart is trash. I got asked for my receipt (only me!). I handed him the receipt but didn't offer my shopping bag. I just kept holding. I looked at him, he looked and me then he looked at my receipt then handed it back. I could compared statistics all day, but some of the greatest counterpoints to Canada being better are the intangible attributes of the US. Academically, although Canada may rank higher on standardized tests of science or math, the US cultivates a culture of innovation, and the US is phenomenal at teaching students to challenge the status quo - the reason for so many cultural, scientific, technological innovations being done on American soil or by American minds. Furthermore, the culture in the US is irreplaceable - the amount of diversity, geographically, socially, demographically, makes the USA the great nation it is today.

When I lived in Egypt it was extremely rare to see a woman ride a horse, drive a car, ride a bike or go swimming, or even jogging. I was a rare exception because I was American and did all of the above, however none of my female friends could or would do any of the things that I just mentioned. Recently I had a very uncomfortable time shopping for a sofa. I shopped for a couple weeks, looking around the many furniture stores in my neighbourhood. I thought I was maybe crazy but after a couple trips back to a few of the same stores I could tell a few of the stores didn't want to deal with me because of my skin colour. I hate racism and intolerance.

Regarding the girl who received less while wearing the veil than when wearing nothing/ a hijab: Don't get me wrong the things some poeple said to her were horrible, but i think its just natural that someone would be more willing to donate to someone whose face is clearly visible as they could be more sympathetic towards them based on their expressions and such. After all, would you donate to someone who was wearing a hockey mask or a balaclava? (I'm not implying that these are in any way the same, but remember that the Qaran does not state that they have to wear a full veil, just some food for thought). Some may argue that this intrudes on basic human facial expressions to one another.) Not only can people feel uneasy when they see someone in a burqa, but it can also be dangerous to the very person underneath it. The burqa isolates women from others and can hide evidence of abuse or assault. It advocates segregation of muslim women in public, which is blatant discrimination within itself, whichever way you look at it!!!

These subconscious choices I don't think they are our fault. They are results of experiences we have had with people, actual real experiences, and by the way we were raised, and where we were raised. How can that be our fault? What matters is the actual choices we make. If we choose to not be prejudice, despite what our subconscious tells us, that is the best we can do. Is that right? Where else could these subconscious ideas be coming from? We got them from somewhere? Either from someone who taught us, or an actual experience, right?
