I wonder if all this time when I constantly bump into employees if they're monitoring me as well.\n\nI'm half Native but don't _exactly_ look it because my dad was really pale. You can tell I'm not 100% white but I could pass.\n\nI do walk around with my own grocery bags because I take the bus/walk home, so I do look a tad suspicious I suppose, so that kind of makes me wonder. They seem very friendly when I speak to them or ask for help though so maybe it's a coincidence.

walmart is trash. I got asked for my receipt (only me!). I handed him the receipt but didn't offer my shopping bag. I just kept holding. I looked at him, he looked and me then he looked at my receipt then handed it back. Clearly he knew he was going to lose this battle because he never asked to look in my bag though I could tell he wanted to.

When we learn to look upon one another with compassion regardless of their race, religion or personal belief's and look instead at the heart of an individual, only then will we make strides to heal and to connect one another across Canada and the world. There's an overwhelming racism borne of intolerance for one another and intolerance is borne in my opinion often of fear. When we don't understand someone, we do tend to make up something to line the box that we force someone to live from but would never accept the same for ourselves. If you see someone being berated, being treated differently then you yourself would accept, you owe it to yourself and to the one being hurt to stand up and to intervene. When attitudes change, people change. Blessing's.

I do appreciate what was said in the show but there other types of discrimination by employers, landlords, stores. It can be how you dress, how you wear your hair, what colour your hair is, if you have tats. For employers, your medical history: I was refused a job at a bank because my grandfather was epileptic and it was thought that I might have the problem. When looking for an apartment or house it really all depends on the owners frame of mind on that particular day, not your references. So it is invasive in all of our lives. Human nature is not all good.

Where I'm from these clowns would be lying in the middle of the road with their blood surrounding them. Why? My people love their independence and freedom and they will not allow sewer rats to take that away from them. I can tell by just looking at these clowns that they're trash and cowards. LOL

Since going blonde, wearing eye contacts, and even lightening my eyebrows, people catch me off guard more often by approaching or chatting with me for a while in public/stores. I'm used to looking kind of quiet (had dark hair/eyebrows/eyes, wore dark clothes and makeup usually) and maybe now I might appear more approachable, because the blonde probably downplays my dark clothes and eye makeup, and my other heritage seems invisible (leaning more on looking 100% european, instead of 50% ecuadorian/latin).

Canada is a Christian country and the muslim community must denounce Islam and be Canadain or leave. No one wants this country to look like Europe. There are good muslims and you can tell who they are. They are the ones that want to fit in to Canadas values. I would gladly protect any muslim that wishes to truely become a Canadian. Recently I had a very uncomfortable time shopping for a sofa. I shopped for a couple weeks, looking around the many furniture stores in my neighbourhood. I thought I was maybe crazy but after a couple trips back to a few of the same stores I could tell a few of the stores didn't want to deal with me because of my skin colour. I hate racism and intolerance.

I know racism exist being Mexican living in Mexico, I have experienced that. Although the shopping and looking for apartment experiment is great, has anyone stop and think yes it is about race or color of the skin but also a interesting point is your clothing and overall appearance instead of the skin sometimes, when shopping if I see someone entirely dressed in black with hat and some sunglasses isn't that suspicious (of course is discriminating but I have to use that example in order to make my point) instead of actual color of the skin? I think that's another aspect to further study, how you dress and the image you project is a factor for discrimination itself, instead purely based on the race.

shopping while black -- happened to me. I was in high school at the time, and I was playing hooky from class. Went into a Lucky's shopping store just to look around, to pass the time really so that I could skip first period. Manager stopped me on my way out with angry tone, demanded me to open my purse and accused me of taking something. I hadn't of course. I had an opportunity to move to California and there was no way I would move to the USA from Canada! It was tempting but when I really looked into it, visited the place I'd be living I was thinking that it was a nice place to visit but never would I live in that shit hole American system.
