Why do some people think their situation is more dire or more important than everyone else's situation? There are thousands of immigrants from all over the world who are trying to enter Canada the legal way. What does this say to them?

This reminds me my hard time in Canada as a black man , especially finding a house was extremely tough , I left Canada for good but my experience changed my view to the world ...

Canada is always the country that I love and will live with my family why because it's the best country in the world

there is racism and prejudice everywhere. on every level no matter gender, race, religion, culture. etc. no matter where you go. but if these guys take a trip to any of those corrupted third world backwards countries they would see how good they really have it. us foolish americans canadians dont know how good we have it. we are living in the freest country nation and society ever seen in the history of the world. at least our country creates new laws every year to make our people feel safe. but other islamic countries continue following laws made in the 15th century. do you see and appreciate the difference.\n\nsure people will label you based off your skin tone and your demeanor. BUT WHY? because they have had bad history with those that look just like you. i have had REALLY REALLY bad experiences with asians in everything. so i naturally stay away from all asians and i do not trust them. HOWEVER, i feel when foreigners come to this country they ruin it for the rest of the citizens that are of similar foriegn race eventhough they were born there. WE NEED TO PUT OUR NATIONS CULTURES first. and thats what we have to teach everyone. we put our canada america pride priority and whatever culture we came from LAST. THATS WHY its best we learn to fix our people in a whole in our country before bringing in anymore foreigners who do not respect our nation. lets stop third world immigration and work on making our country great again. so we can stop all this crime in our neighborhoods. because it hinders our progress. once every race color ethnicity of people are acting right then we will have no prejudice based off color or even gender because everyone is giving everyone respect. but because CRIME IS HIGH in all foreign races, and we continue to disrespect eachother. nobody feels safe anymore. whether your light skinned white or black.

I am a 16 years old muslim from egypt, and I am saying that what ISIS are doing is against Islam, my relative was in the Egyptian army while he was shot by ISIS terrorists, what I am trying to say to all the world is that ISIS targets everyone, wether a muslim or non-muslim, they keep bombing masjids as well as churches, they keep killing thousands of muslims and christians in many states. ISIS islam is totally different from the Islamic values that I was raised based on as a kid. If the government of Canda wants to fight it, then they should take these steps.\n1- They should have a security cameras secretly placed in islamic schools and masjids\n2- They should have a security bars over the masjid doors to check if any one who enters the masjids has unouthorized materials\n3- They should have a continous and a strong link between the intelligence and the islamic centeres as this may help greatly in fighting back terrorist attacks\n4- They should give muslims equal rights, consideration, and responsibility to those of non muslim canadians as banning something may add the fuel to the fire.\n5- Those who have hate towards the nation should not be allowed in\n6- Measures should be taken to reduce hate crimes\n\nJust to inform you that those muslims who are living in Canada, most of them are either refugees or converts, those refugees have harsh conditions in their countries due to civil wars, thats why they fled the country. In Egypt, were the population is 90% muslim, there are 9% christians, mostly were Coptic Orthodox Christianity, and they are living side by side with muslims peacefully without any violence or discrimination. Muslims have ruled Jerusalem for many centuries and Jews, Muslims, and Christians lived side by side peacefully without any violence or discrimination. Those terrorist have nothing to do with Islam, they are claiming that they are muslims but they are actually not.\n\nBut, what I am surprised about is that those muslims living in Canada that is shown on this videos are very religious and they are a tiny percentage of all muslim population in Canada, In fact, a study survey in France says that before the Ban of Burqa, of 4 million muslim women living in France only 368 muslim women actually wore it, many muslim westerns dont even wear the Hijab except when they are praying. Even of Burqa was banned, this will never reduce the statistics of terrorism.

As a Canadian..... please go back to your country. We have job shortages in Canada. Countries are losing low skill jobs due to mechanization. Japan is the best run country in the world and is lowing their population...... take note people. Low populations is the winning strategy of the future.

I wish it was talked about more, seeing Trudeau's beautiful tweets most people run up to Canada expecting that they will be welcome to open arms, the reality is that 70-80 will be deported. It is sad for every one especially the people that really needs asylum. It is so sad that we live in such an unequal world. Something that most people don't know, is that USA doesn't hold the toughest immigration policy in the world. That would be either Canada, Australia or any major European country. They all promise to be friendly to immigrants, but they do the opposite of what they say and they still have the nerve to criticise Trump.

RE: Canadian healthcare, my wife broke both her hips in 2017 in two separate falls, she was admitted immediately to hospital without delay and operated on the next day (half hip replacement), after physio and occupational therapy she was discharged and provided Homecare, 16 times per week plus weekly Day Hospital. Our cost for both operations was roughly $160.00 for parking spots for me so I could visit her and about $140 in Tim Horton doughnuts for staff. The system does not have enough of certain types of specialists thus wait times for those specialists, and there are wait times for elective surgery. The system has not really been reviewed since its inception in the 1960s but making significant changes is the third rail of Canadian politics and a hard look is justified after 70 years. Re: illegal crossings; The gentleman in the video has a problem in that the US and Canada have signed a “safe country” agreement and neither will accept refugees from the other as both Canada and the US are deemed “safe havens”. He crossed illegally, if he had crossed legally he would have been immediately turned back at the border but he clearly entered the country between border crossings and was likely arrested and released on recognizance but not returned immediately as the agreement is silent on illegal entries (yes, seems a touch strange). As many people are leaving the US for Canada the system is overwhelmed. Tent cities have been set up in Quebec and public housing used in Manitoba to house illegal immigrant pending processing - those with criminal records are held for deportation. Canada has accepted roughly 25,000 Syrian refugees from camps in that part of the world. These refugees were first vetted by the UN then Canada. These refugees are completely different from the people crossing the border illegally from the United States. This pales to the 75,000 boat people accepted after the fall of Saigon. Canadians have been generally accepting of refugees but wants the process guided by the rule of law. Immigrants are a separate from refugees and the rules governing their entries into Canada are different.

This is a great documentary. I assumed Canada was very inclusive and multicultural. I never heard about slavery in Canada or racism there. As an African-American woman I want to know all about the experiences of BLACK PEOPLE all over the world because we are connected. Many of our families were torn apart during slavery. Most of us can’t trace our history five generations. I’m glad we have YouTube to find information through documentaries like this one.

What a fucked up situation with these poor people. It's not fair that their country of origin is so fucked up that they risk it all to leave. It's also unfair for them to think they can just make their way to the US or Canada and live there illegally. The world is a big place an there are people from all over who want to leave and come live in the US but they have to do it the right way. My cousin is from Italy and she speaks 5 languages, she was top of her class and she can't get a permanent visa to live in the US. So why is it that if she can't get in with her qualifications, why do people from South and Central America think they can just do what they want and they get mad when they get deported?

Well, I am not going to generalize all people in the same category. There are good and bad people everywhere in the world but being first generation immigrant in Canada is really hard in every part of life. First, even you are fluent in English you will have an accent that makes big difference in your job hunting, making friends and get along with different people. Many times, I have been treated on the basis of how I look and on the basis of my accent.

I was raised in Canada and lived in America for 3 years, this was around the time Hurrincane Katrina hit. I miss living in Houston, but wouldn't change for the world. I love it here in Toronto. When we learn to look upon one another with compassion regardless of their race, religion or personal belief's and look instead at the heart of an individual, only then will we make strides to heal and to connect one another across Canada and the world. There's an overwhelming racism borne of intolerance for one another and intolerance is borne in my opinion often of fear. When we don't understand someone, we do tend to make up something to line the box that we force someone to live from but would never accept the same for ourselves. Nice program.. It seams for some reason the western civilization has been burdened with this problem of Racism, Prejudism and other phobia .. I am a Transgender person. I feel safe in Canada. So should everyone else. BUT Here is the devils advocate in me.. If I went to a different part of the world, would I have the same rights and freedoms as I do here.? Probably not!  Canada is about change. Canadian's accept change, but so should the people who come here. Don't lose your religion, values, or culture. keep them close! but embrace new ones..
