As a Canadian who has traveled to 12/13 provinces/territories (sorry NFLD) and all regions of the mainland USA I have couple comments. First, both Canada and the USA the accents and culture are very different depending on the area (another similarity!). People from Vermont have more in common with people from New Brunswick than they do with their fellow Americans in Texas. People from British Columbia have more in common with people from Washington than they do with Quebeckers. Second, I actually find that Americans are super friendly in some states, more outgoing than Canadians (like say Tennessee). Also, Drew, if you ever want to go to the Far North in Canada it's a whole other world of Inuit people speaking Inuktitut on Baffin Island - for me that area seems like another country!

Better burgers in the U.S.? You should try the Harvey's hamburger chain, only in Canada. Long ago around 1986 an American friend studying here said he never tasted anything like it. There is higher beef standards in Canada and he found it juicy and tender in big buns.

I think one of the big differences between USA & Canada is mentality. I find that Canadian’s & Australians to share more similarities in terms of mindset then Canadians & Americans.

Actually , Canada is still close the Britain , to the Crown , USA is multi national countrie , there is not an american ethnicity , just a lot of mixture between blacks and hispanic and the largest european origin majoritiy , so in my opinion Canada should stay independent !

I was born and raised in the US but I have been going to Canada for my entire life. I live here now because of college and I love the US a little more because that was home. But where I live in Toronto, is pretty diverse. Canadians are nicer but so are Americans but are more racist down south. Canada's government is led by a real leader but the States is led by an idiotic annoying orange.

God this documentary is so flawed. The symphony? Really? You are comparing the 50s from today? There were much less immigrants in Canada back then. There were less immigrants and ppl of color that played instruments. And those that did, less of them actually tried out for a symphony. And then the blind resume test totally proved no bias. In fact I think it might be the opposite. I’m American (but I have a horribly foreign name). Americans looking for jobs, I think, eh... another goofball lazy American. But if I see a foreign name, I assume they might be more serious and work harder because of old school family values.

I actually think Janelle Monae included those characters to make a point. I don't think it gives them a pass. the lyrics of the song even speak about the issue. This is my perspective as an African American. I appreciate the perspective, but I think a message was actually being sent. This does make me want to learn more about how racial scenarios play out in Canada - we share a continent, but the cultures are difference.

I’m a black American and we don’t really hear about black Canadians and their similar struggle (possibly worse since I’m just assuming there are fewer black people there and Canada is not “known” for its racism like the US is so people may not think it’s an issue)

Hello, I just watched your video. Three years after you made it. I hope you are still with us and a very belated Welcome. Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. The canadians are as cold as their weather...poor guy got rejected after such a DUMB MOVE .Generally speaking living in the US is way easier than in Canada ,where you have to be a genius (overqualified) to get almost any decent job.Not to mention the brutal winters (except vancouver) Only 2 good things about canada : it's healthcare and safety . Much easier to have a comfortable life in the US despite being undocumented .You just have to keep a low profile and be a law abiding citizen.The american economy is simply the BIGGEST in the planet .So many businesses : someone will give you a chance ...as simply as that !

I went to canada with my family when i was 6 years old i thought it was so beautiful the native americans treated us with kindness my dad bought me some moccisens there. A chinese immagrant restaurant owner was nice to us the white people many of them wrent very nice this was in 1969 in the summer but i loved the wilderness and wanted to go back and see the indians. I was a dreamer. Unfortenately and through my own fault after i got out of the military honerably discharged . I got a dui again it was my stupidity but i payed my fine did my jail time and got educated about not drinking and driving. It is not a felony i the US but it is in Canada so canada gets ahold of my driving records maybe they hacked in. And said i could not go into canada. I noticed they let george w. Busch in though oh well i dont think canada even pretends fainess under the law . Any way they are now letting elligals into canada and giving them a hotel room . The duplicity is absurd personally i no longer want to go to canada for anything i think the wall should be put on the northern border. Canada is way tougher then the United States on immigration...in fact Trump would like to change the American system so it is more like Canada's. As a Canadian with a Honduran wife .. I tried to arrange a visit to Canada for my my wife and our small daughter and they rejected us...so I have lived in Honduras for the last 15 years.
