I live in Houston Texas. People often say that Mexicans take jobs that no one else will do. That may have been true at some point but now that we are overwhelmed by the illegal immigrants every business only hires Mexicans that speak perfect Spanish and not so perfect English. So blacks, whites and other cultures are stuck! If I wanted to live in Mexico I would move there and learn their language why do they refuse to learn ours? I love every Mexican that I have met. I also love water but I do not want to be dropped into the middle of the ocean. There are at least 350 languages spoken in America why are we bending over backwards 2 make our country bilingual to Spanish and not all the other languages?

Spent some time in the U.S. and has now spent quite awhile in Canada going through the system but still doesn't speak English. Just an observation.

Why don't all these Latin American asylum seekers go to places like Belize, Costa Rica, Panama? The economies and lower crime rates in these countries are good enough to attract many expats from Europe and the United States. Surely for someone seeking asylum they should be okay - and not too far to travel to get there. Plus, they already speak the language! People who can't speak the national language shouldn't be moving to another country especially not illegally. I can't feel sorry for this guy. so what exactly is the problem? there are laws in canada - no you can't just walk in a stay and get benefits. if there is misinformation in the community migrating north, then who is at fault? if anyone from any country, regardless of race, creed, religion, sexual orientation - anything - thinks they can just go to another country with no strings attached they're crazy. I get the feeling this is meant to look like a racist issue - it's not. if you're white as snow, speak english and carry a bible, the rules are the same - you come legally, and go through all the paperwork and checks that are required.

A lot of people comment about how illegal immigration is ok, and blah blah blah. It's simple to say that when you don't feel the direct impact. Change the US as a country to your house. Now let's say the neighbors land Lord is beating the shit outta everyone in that household (play on the violence that's happening in country of orgin). One of then move into your house without letting you know beforehand (illegals). Let's say you don't mind and understand why they did so. Now they work hard around the house and get a job to spend for themselves and send money next door to the family still left behind. . But they don't have to pay for electricity, gas (aka taxes). And since you own a 3 bed room house, things don't change that much. Now 2 more of the neighbors flee because of the asshole land Lord. Now you have to start working slightly harder to pay for your utilities aka taxes. Now you start seeing how more people affect your household. Now even more people flee the next door neighbors and you work even harder for utilities plus your trash is overflowing, have to invest in larger trash cans, fix the doors or ascetic's(pipes, faucets, tubs etc) in your house from over use or mismanagement. Plus you have to start driving their kids to school, you have to get a bigger vehicle (that's a play on the education systems bloating classroom problems)spend more on gas and car maintenance, and since they all don't speak English, to have to spend money on making signs to inform them of the house rules and dangers. You have to invest time out of your schedule to inform them how things work in your house hold because at their house they walked around naked or shit with the door open (play on different societal norms or religions) and may even have to alter your rules as not to impose and anger them. Know the house is over filled and they expect you to buy a bigger house (play on the welfare state)I mean I can go on... But people reading this can get the drift. Point is, yes i understand that people want a better life and all immgration in not necessarily evil, but you can't just let anyone come in because you feel bad. Making change based off emotions of a few is detrimental to the whole.

The best and smartest thing any immigrant can do is to learn to speak and write English even though that's not politically correct to say. Canada has done extremely well for Immigrants, and we spend a lot of money on making sure we get hard working decent citizens.. We've recently made it easier for people to immigrate here.
