It's true. Many black people tend to be lazy and don't work hard especially in school. They all want to be rappers or professional athletes. lol

I worked at my local Walmart throughout high school and it was white people who were the most likely to shoplift.

At 8:41 this is BS I work at a Best buy and in our training we are told that you should always try to help someone as in some cases we are paid commission. These are just people like my self trying to earn more money.

How are you supposed to work for a living with that on your head? fact is ALL other people must work to take care of these woman.

Racism does exist everywhere.\nIn Canada, America, Germany, France, Hong Kong, etc. You can fill in every country.\nYou can make hundred times more documentations about it without any change.\nAnd you can't say people to have no racism and wonder why it does not work. The more you talk about the less it will work.

I used to work at a Shoppers in highschool, Theres no reason to be in a store browsing for 20min without attracting attn. As a shelf stocker I always had my eyes on the mirrors for people not exibiting proper behaviors.

Psychology student here. In the interest of accurate information, I would like to point out some flaws I find with some of the studies in this documentary and question the conclusions reached. I understand that CBC Marketplace are not personality psychologists and therefore cannot be expected to produce the same quality of work as a scientist. However, I think it is worthwhile to think critically about the information in the media that we consume. I am also open to anyone who wants to engage in debating the contents of this documentary.\n\n\nThe following are some notes I took while watching the documentary outlining the individual hypotheses of the studies I think are flawed and descriptions of their respective accompanying errors. \n\n\nThere are three possible research questions, and thereby dependent variables, being answered by the apartment hunting studies.\n1. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \n \n2. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man between Toronto, Montreal, Regina, and Victoria, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could total apartments visited be a confounding variable? (4 in Toronto, 3 in Montreal, Regina, and Victoria) \nb. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \nc. They only showed the black man apartment hunting in some of the trials. I am considering him out of the study for consistency purposes. The first-nations man is the only one who got unfair treatment in the footage of apartment hunting. \n \n3. Possible hypothesis: If male landlords/agents are more discriminatory than female landlords/agents, then the white man and the first-nations man will get different treatment at different Canadian apartments in equally diverse cities. \na. Don’t know all the information about the genders of the landlords/agents, not all the footage is shown, but the ones where they get ripped off are male. The others shown are female. The remaining interactions are not shown.\n\n\nThere are also some factors that may have influenced the racial bias survey and, in my estimation, rendered it scientifically unreliable.\n\n\n1. The bias survey and accompanying tests at the CBC attributed the differences between the studies to unconscious racism. What if it was just due to familiarity with certain racial groups over others? \na. The black participants had no bias between European-American and African Americans, supposedly indicating no racism, while the white and first-nations participants did, supposedly indicating racism. Is it possible that another interpretation of this result is that bias is a function of familiarity: that we are comfortable with the majority demographic in the geographical location we live in, as well as our own kind. Therefore, the black guys are less biased against black people due to being both black and living in a white majority demographic? \nb. The participants took the survey knowing the objectives of the researchers was to study racial discrimination. They might have influenced the answers they gave \nc. Whether the participants agreed with identity politics or not was a confounding factor that was not controlled . You can only be racially unbiased biased if you think that racial identity is a means of accurately viewing the world. People who do not believe in the existence of identity politics may answer the questions quite differently, which could be a different reason for the results.\nd. I took the study myself. The words that participants were required to match were a mix of adjectives and nouns. It is known within psychology that nouns have higher levels of imagery. This was not properly controlled and therefore is another confounding variable. \n \nAll the other studies looked fine to me. I welcome any discussion on my observations.

Cherry pick a few instances of bad people doing dumb things all you want. It doesn't change the fact most of us are good hard working people who don't judge people by their skin colour.\n\n\nCBC is a joke and should be defunded.

People need to stop judging by skin colour. Working security at hospitals for the last few years i can confirm one thing. Most of the people who cause us problems are white males.

To be fair the situation is difficult, having worked in retail before there is plenty of shoplifting on a daily basis so I can understand why staff are trained to use procedures to make shoplifting less likely, it does result in an unpleasant experience for customers if they are misprofiled and unfortunately people do misjudge or assume that certain types of people are more likely to steal. A lot of shoplifting is actually surprisingly done by old people, and its usually not intentional, sometimes they just simply forget to pay.

I wish the United States would face this issue. I've been attacked in a store for unfair, and unfounded suspension. I am treated differently in no less than 75% of stores I go into. The employees stare me down, follow me... I'm going to start filming these people. It's not fair to be harrassed for S.W.B. It's sad, I was born this color, yet I am less than, or just plain bad before I even speak, or act in the minds of many, especially law enforcement. It's sad. It's depressing. It makes everything in life that I do in public, down to using the bathroom, getting to know new people, applying for work, buying food, or just walking down any street, so much harder. Like the world is mad I exist, and the people want me to go away.

these tests are biased, assuming that only white people are racists. try to carry out the same tests with non-white people. i worked in pakistan for a while, i've never seen anyone so anti-black in my life. do your homework.

I worked at the gap and they train you to approach customers so that they know that they have been seen and it’s a less risk of property being stolen. But this guy was approached by 3 to 4 people and I know it’s not that slow.

It's a sad fact that some people can't evolve past the need to make themselves feel bigger by working to make others seem smaller. People do it all the time and race seems to be a favorite reason for the most ignorant.

Do Indian people take money for work permit

When I worked at Best Buy I overheard someone telling loss prevention to keep an eye out for the black people. But when I came around the corner and glared at them( I’m a mixed race woman but then I was just 18) they stopped talking and the manager dropped the COMPUTER he was holding. It broke. I was too shocked and shy to say anything then. I assumed I misheard

If the west is horrible for the muslims, why don`t they move to a muslim country? Because, islam doesn`t work, so they have to go to countries that works. Under developed people that doesn`t belong here.

I suggest going back too his country of origin and vote for politician's that will reform his government. It's crazy people from poorer countries keep electing socialist governments. While they inevitably must leave to Western countries. Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina. They should all be 1st world countries. Go back and vote right. Not left. I wonder what would happen if all Canadians moved to Mexico and all Mexicans moved to Canada. Which country would be better off. It is not the land that defines a country, it is the people. It is really disheartening to see all this. I had a dream of coming to canada for study when I was young but due to lack of money I failed to come. After that I always wanted to try find a job from outside canada I failed. I am in a situation that I see no way to come to canada . I always wanted to to come work hard make money and start a good life, moreover i had plans to setup my business there with that money and give others the job. And these scammers have it so easy way out . Seems like honesty has no place left. At least give them harsh punishments that will make genuine people feel better.

The Sikh's are entirely opposite of the Muslim population. Although many Muslims do work and contribute, it is still a high percentage that depends on welfare benefits. The Sikh's have a great work ethic and they will help you along in setting a great example of a good worker, in case you are lacking in that. Most Sikh's are very high earners, millionaires even, owing to HARD WORK. In my entire life, I never met a SINGLE lazy Sikh. They are very enterprising people.

we need to help stabilize latin american countries if we want to stop unendless migration. i know a lot of people just want to deport and thats it but as long as there is violence and corruption in latin america the people are always going to find a way to come here. we need to work with latin america to help stabilize their countries and make them a better place so that their citizens don’t feel the need to leave.

Honestly, this is sad, because these people obviously didn't receive higher education. I don't mean it in a bad way, but seriously, getting an education prevents stuff like this from happening because you actually LEARN to think critically about others' situations and the way the world works.

What if i stood on our Borders and told you to go back because this is a western country. What right do you have to tell us on our streets where we can walk. As a permanent resident based on merit who worked two years to get it, I feel like my work was worthless because people who simply bought their citizenship and can’t even speak English or have any basic merits to qualify for PR are all too common in Canada. The Canadian skilled migration is a scam, skilled workers are better off going somewhere they will actually be valued.

Poor, poor NON-refugee. Should have followed US immigration law. Could have been living and working legally in America by now and with his wasted legal fees probably in his pocket. lol..People like us have to first study in our home countries till a graduation then have to study in canada by spending 30-40thousand CAD,then clear language exams,get some year of Canadian work experience then Immigration officer can decide if we are eligible for canadian PR.

As you said about job troubles but you should know about Canadian rules and regulations for work and how conscious they are for any workers.

No one has the right to judge immigrates. A lot of them leaving the us have given the us there everything they came to the us to work and help contribute to the country . They payed taxes like everyone else . The us has a history making people wait many years before they are granted their green cards many people wait then are just deported I feel compassion for them . I thought it was bad that a year later in Canada, he still isn't speaking English whatsoever, but interviewed in his native tongue. Then I see that he was in the US for 15 freaking years, and didn't bother there either. I see he and his family has no intention of assimilating. How long before we have a little El Salvador, w/ all the crime they supposedly left. People that won't assimilate to us inevitably bring all their country's crap and woes w/ them. I've worked in retail, and color has nothing to do with the attention you give a customet. When I go shopping not once do I look over my shoulder to see who is watching me.
