Racism has always been in Canada, dont be fooled. It may not be as prevalent as in other countries but racism is in fact here in Canada, I grew up here, Im a black born Canadian and dealt with it all my life. Mostly just taunting and name calling but one thing is certain, wherever you find white people you will find a lot of ignorance and even the good ones seem to always be a step or 2 away from a racist rant when they agitated. As long as they don't get violent with non whites then I guess we can deal with the slander and name calling. As a person with a darker hue, you will always be looked at like you are an Alien to them.

As a permanent resident based on merit who worked two years to get it, I feel like my work was worthless because people who simply bought their citizenship and can’t even speak English or have any basic merits to qualify for PR are all too common in Canada. I went to canada with my family when i was 6 years old i thought it was so beautiful the native americans treated us with kindness my dad bought me some moccisens there. A chinese immagrant restaurant owner was nice to us the white people many of them wrent very nice this was in 1969 in the summer but i loved the wilderness and wanted to go back and see the indians. I was a dreamer. Unfortenately and through my own fault after i got out of the military honerably discharged . I got a dui again it was my stupidity but i payed my fine did my jail time and got educated about not drinking and driving. It is not a felony i the US but it is in Canada so canada gets ahold of my driving records maybe they hacked in. And said i could not go into canada. I noticed they let george w. Busch in though oh well i dont think canada even pretends fainess under the law . Any way they are now letting elligals into canada and giving them a hotel room . The duplicity is absurd personally i no longer want to go to canada for anything i think the wall should be put on the northern border. I personally am sic about profiling. I waited on CEO of companys that grossed 100-500 million. Initially EVERYONE racially profiles others even if it's very slightly & denying it won't make it untrue it's just the way it is. It is NOT just race. Depending on the bag or backpack you carry, you get followed, which I hate. And I'm not black. My mother also gets followed everywhere in every Macy's store. It drives me crazy. It's really annoying, because I think it's because my mom has big purses and I usually have my art backpack. \n\nWhen I'm in a different town, I get followed in Walmart all the time. If I forget my shopping bags, I will empty my backpack so I can use that to put all my items in at the end of the purchase.\n\n In Best Buy, I'm lucky to get anyone to help me at all!!! I have to hunt someone down, and most of the time, they don't know anything anyway. Target: I have a hard time finding anyone to help me as well. I haven't really done a social experiment, but sometimes I just have my shopping bags and fill them as I shop and I won't carry a purse.\n\nLocally, I don't get followed because my family and me are known in that town. We know a lot of people and my face is everywhere. I never get followed. But out of town Walmart, I get followed in certain stores. It irritates me immensely, especially since I buy a lot of make up and the make up department is cramped they way they block the end of the aisles. It makes it really hard to turn your cart around when other people are in the same aisle. Then they close the make up aisle even though they have tons of cameras all over!! \n\nOverall, I don't know WHERE these backhanded compliments are coming from. I normally hear stuff about my weight. I realize that some people are asses....that will never end. But the term racism is thrown around way too much. First of all, it’s tribalism and it’s a normal part of being human. Any thing that is ‘other’ or different will be viewed with suspicion and or dislike. It will never be stopped, it can’t be educated away and it can’t be made to go away by immersing people in multiculturalism. Think back to when you were a child even...seeing someone who was handicapped would make you wary of them. Now, when those normal perceptions cause you to treat someone bad or as a lesser person is when it becomes a problem. That CAN be educated away. But to attempt to make people feel bad because of there responses to the faces on the computer is ridiculous. EVERYONE, regardless of race, will have tendencies towards tribalistic thinking.

When I lived home in the 80's and early 90's I was a teenager. Even then I noticed that the black hair care products were behind the counter but the hair care products for white people were in the isles. Even 2 years ago here, in Columbus, I was shopping with a friend. In my Lane was a white lady, my friend who was white, then me. We all used a card and the sign stated an ID was needed to use a card. No one was asked until it was my turn. When she asked. I showed it, then waited till the line was gone. Then I went to the counter and questioned her. She hummed and stumbled over her words. In the end her bigotry and profiling seemed subconscience. That was even worse.

Don't ever ask a white person if there is racism in their town, city, country, why? Because they are not targeted so how would they know? English is the official language in the USA And these people should have to learn it, but no,they expect us to learn Spanish even when they're here illegally in our country.Thats the least theycould do. Dear video maker , it's nothing new in your life in Canada. Even people around the world including local people and local students are doing same . And it's nothing new to travel 2 or 3 hours in bus . People who stays in USA from ages are travelling same in car . Every students are expecting same life with them who are living in foreign from ages . Those people might had struggled more . Student has to understand before going on Student visa that with situations rather than keeping intrest in how to make money. 99 % students are interested in only money from day one .But foreign governments think that you have shown your financial documents, are enough for you to survive there even if you have no Job . And it's depends on the country, in which country you have gone and what is your qualification. If students go to UK or USA , thay might make little more money comparing to Canada, Australia or New Zealand. All students should understand before going to any country that only in USA AND UK country are the best to earn money and getting out money from there to india. Otherwise except these two countries none country is there in the world that you can make money there and send maximum money to india. Except these two countries other countries have made situation that whatever you earn there , you will have to spend in that country only. You can't save money to india for living good life in India. And it is good and thankful those countries where person after 18 years has go for job rather than being dependent on parents. And working in bakery with standing whole hours during job is not a new in those English country. They don't force to do that by law . This job is kind of that. Person has to understand job profile before joining the job . By English country law before you start job they will call you for induction and will explain what job you have to do . Life person is happy for that job , he / she can join the job . I think specially students has to look into positive things which in India students are not doing and thay have to do there in foreign countries. I am not trolling you but look into students life where local students in foreign are living and same. If you think this is struggling life then I can say this is not struggling life , students has to think first if they have gone for study or making money from first day. People think that living in foreign countries us good and relaxing and you enjoy a lot. Well this is not true. I have one of my friends who told me the way he lives and works and studies in Canada. Believe me, you won't like to hear what he told me. He does two part time jobs starting from morning to afternoon at 3 and does another one from 4 to 8 and he barely gets 4 to 5 hours to study. At times when there are exams or tests in the college, he has to skip the work and go to the College but when he skips, he feels from deep inside that for today I don't have even this amount of money and believe me, staying in Canada or any other county is not as easy as eating a plate of rice and on the first time when you go to look for a job, you will get it at McDonald's or any type of restaurants. And the work my friend does is to cut meat at McDonald's in Canada.

I am actually shocked by people in the comment here. All talked like you knew a lot of things of immigration and citizenship. Loll but many don’t even know the first thing, the difference between permanent residence and citizenship. Immigration jail is referred to PR required living time in Canada. PR don’t have a Canadian passport and only citizens can have it. Once you are a Canadian citizen, you don’t need to live in Canada for a required time. China does not allow dual citizenship and that is why they try to scam the system to make up the living time in Canada.

As a Mexican American I have faced all types of racism from people of different races, including my own. I lived in Mexico for a while when I was young and would get bullied by kids who knew I was born in the U.S. Teachers also treated me different; some treated me worse than they treated the other kids, and others favored me because I was American. When I moved to Philadelphia I attended a school that was predominantly black and asian. I was the only hispanic in my class. At the time Spanish was my main language and my English was “rusty,” which led to constant bullying from classmates. They would call me “dookie face,” tell me to “go back to my country,” and even had some girls put gum on my hair. I would cry every day. I later on moved to Chicago to an area that was mostly hispanic, and that didn’t stop the bullying, either. After I finally refined my English, I no longer wanted to speak Spanish unless it was to my parents. Yes, I guess the constant bullying pushed me to feel like I had to separate myself from my hispanic heritage. When my hispanic classmates spoke to me in Spanish I only responded in English, which would make them mad and they would think that I thought I was “better than them.” Anyway, that was long ago and now as an adult I can reflect on these things so that I don’t make the same mistakes. I get along with everyone and the only thing that changes how I feel about someone is their character, not their appearance.

Who hasn't been watched in a store? They will indeed watch you if you stay in one area too long, look around too long, have different types of bags, have your coats thrown over items in a basket, etc. Anyone can make themselves be watched just by their own behaviours. But I agree that landlords should be able to choose the tenants they want. They take great risks renting and it should be their right. I believe everyone racially profiles and they also profile white people against other whites, depending how they look. Even animals do that sometimes it appears.\n\nAnybody like the CBC, Oprah, or anyone who wants can make it appear that certain groups are biased against as well, but rarely will those people do surveys on store clerks who experience reverse discrimination very often themselves.

The western civilization is familiar and understand the art of hypnotizing and self hypnotizing. Muslims are required to pray 5 times a day, regardless. Over a long period of living, this has similar scarring effects on the human brain. It becomes self fulfilling. Add to the hadiths within their learning, the instructions become mandatory. Consequently, they expect people around them to change to suit them instead of the other way around even though they are guests of the new countries. So that's the problem each country is dealing with. Essentially most of them are good human beings; the hypnotizing effect can just overwhelm weaker individuals and consequently create many major problems in some new countries. It’s not even in the Quran that a woman should cover her face. They don’t even wear it in the mosque. It only tells them to cover their hair when you pray. Same as the Bible.
