I find that the majority of the Muslim people who have been brought to Canada. Are very rude to Canadians, and seem to want to change Canada into their controlling and abusive ways. I think it's disgusting that they can come here, and try to change our system and take advantage of Canada's services. We need to stop these people from coming to Canada, as they've proven already, that they are not willing to conform to our Canadian way of life! If you don't like it, get out of Canada!!!

My advice is to Islam loving people dont come to west . We haven't invited you into our country . If you come you need to behave and learn national eticatte of the culture you coming into .. freedom is not absolute as what you think . Ok

Originally from the Philippines here and once a homeless man told me to go back where I came from. I'm actually surprised he said that, I’m just a passerby.\n\nIt hurts a bit but then I moved on. I think racism is everywhere. People just don’t have the time and mental energy to understand and know each other, I guess.\n\nThat is why I’m telling my son to have a good solid ground of resilience (aka not be to be a snowflake). Life is too short to wallow on this. We came to Canada as immigrants, do not except everyone to treat you like a first class citizen. But the way you act, the way you do, and how you treat people around you may earn you respect regardless of your color, race or creed.

This is a good exersize to do. I think it could help all of us to understand ourselves and to be better people.

As a black person I just shop online cause I'm tired of these weird people. Last time I went in the store I told em, you look at me like I don't know I'm black. I know exactly what I look like and you think I'm going to steal. Smh

I'm a white guy who lived in another country that wasn't a white majority country. There is discrimination in western countries, but there are ways to deal with it. The discrimination I had to deal with every day was much more than this, but nobody wants to know about that. The way I lived for those several years was to realize that I was different and I just had to maximize dealing with good people and when I knew that I would have to deal with something like having to get an apartment, I took that countries national with me knowing I would get a better deal. I was grabbed by officers at night and threatened. basically whatever is faced here, I had on a regular basis. At first, it pissed me off, but later, I came up with a way to maximize my life to get the best treatment I could. I didn't think I would be coming back to America, but eventually, I came back for more schooling and ended up staying.

Of course it's wrong and people are dumb for thinking and acting this way. But, this is human nature. We evolved to be wary of outsiders because at one time it served us as a species. Take any race and put them in any other country where they aren't the majority and this will happen. Acceptance of all is still new to us

These are investment visas... generates a good deal of revenue and taxes for the people. I agree he did wrong doing and should be punished but they are portraying him like a El Chapo or some drug dealer or murderer. I think that’s excessive to harass him at his residence

Different cultures have different tendencies and behaviours. If you see a certain behaviour more than once among the same culture / group, you will naturally start categorizing. Most people think it's a skin colour (which very commonly is just an attribute of a certain culture or group), but in reality, it's hard to tell people not to stereotype and just simply ignore what you observe.

I'm not saying there isn't discrimination, but I think it's across the board. Had a black person been handling the job of the real estate agent or an Asain person, do you think the outcome would have been different? Why is the white person always targeted as the oppressor? There are plenty of people in decision-making positions of other races who determine outcomes. How about leveling the field?

It isn't one way. There are landlords and companies that belong to minorities that don't employ people of a different colour to them, how about reporting on that.\n\n\n\nAs a white person, I have been followed about in a shop, so don't think it is due to racism.

why are you overlapping the behaviours of people from Nova Scotia towards black people mixed with Fredericton these are two different provinces and two different realities not even the same. Psychology student here. In the interest of accurate information, I would like to point out some flaws I find with some of the studies in this documentary and question the conclusions reached. I understand that CBC Marketplace are not personality psychologists and therefore cannot be expected to produce the same quality of work as a scientist. However, I think it is worthwhile to think critically about the information in the media that we consume. I am also open to anyone who wants to engage in debating the contents of this documentary.\n\n\nThe following are some notes I took while watching the documentary outlining the individual hypotheses of the studies I think are flawed and descriptions of their respective accompanying errors. \n\n\nThere are three possible research questions, and thereby dependent variables, being answered by the apartment hunting studies.\n1. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \n \n2. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man between Toronto, Montreal, Regina, and Victoria, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could total apartments visited be a confounding variable? (4 in Toronto, 3 in Montreal, Regina, and Victoria) \nb. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \nc. They only showed the black man apartment hunting in some of the trials. I am considering him out of the study for consistency purposes. The first-nations man is the only one who got unfair treatment in the footage of apartment hunting. \n \n3. Possible hypothesis: If male landlords/agents are more discriminatory than female landlords/agents, then the white man and the first-nations man will get different treatment at different Canadian apartments in equally diverse cities. \na. Don’t know all the information about the genders of the landlords/agents, not all the footage is shown, but the ones where they get ripped off are male. The others shown are female. The remaining interactions are not shown.\n\n\nThere are also some factors that may have influenced the racial bias survey and, in my estimation, rendered it scientifically unreliable.\n\n\n1. The bias survey and accompanying tests at the CBC attributed the differences between the studies to unconscious racism. What if it was just due to familiarity with certain racial groups over others? \na. The black participants had no bias between European-American and African Americans, supposedly indicating no racism, while the white and first-nations participants did, supposedly indicating racism. Is it possible that another interpretation of this result is that bias is a function of familiarity: that we are comfortable with the majority demographic in the geographical location we live in, as well as our own kind. Therefore, the black guys are less biased against black people due to being both black and living in a white majority demographic? \nb. The participants took the survey knowing the objectives of the researchers was to study racial discrimination. They might have influenced the answers they gave \nc. Whether the participants agreed with identity politics or not was a confounding factor that was not controlled . You can only be racially unbiased biased if you think that racial identity is a means of accurately viewing the world. People who do not believe in the existence of identity politics may answer the questions quite differently, which could be a different reason for the results.\nd. I took the study myself. The words that participants were required to match were a mix of adjectives and nouns. It is known within psychology that nouns have higher levels of imagery. This was not properly controlled and therefore is another confounding variable. \n \nAll the other studies looked fine to me. I welcome any discussion on my observations.

I’ve been accused of racially profiling someone. Because my coworker asked them if then needed assistance & then I did without realizing she already had. She thought we were the same person. I guess because we are both white with brown hair? Felt awful afterward. Not sure why people would even think to spy on people of colour whilst shopping. Usually (in my experience) the people who steal seem sketchy - they won’t make eye contact, are standoffish etc. Those are the people to keep an eye on. You’re just wasting your time otherwise. I get followed quite frequently. It’s pretty funny because I’ve never stolen anything from a store in my life

I am a white person.... and in my life I have been ripped off more than once and they have all been white. So if you think about it they should profile more white people.

Years ago I was looking for an apartment with my girl-friend and we looked at a great place and being white we didn't even think twice about being discriminated against. Oddly enough the woman (who happened to be middle-eastern) didn't want to rent to us because we weren't married. Just goes to show that people are silly for all sorts of reasons and none of them are good.

I think subtle racism is actually a very practical type of stereotyping and it didn't just got created out of air, there is a big chunk of that specific race (be it any race according to the stereotype) who actually prove the stereotype to be right. I am from india, living in Canada and if some house owner would prefer a white guy over me to rent their house, I would not blame him since a lot of people don't like the smell of spices that we cook all the time.\n\nAs far as stereotyping is sublet and not rude or hurting, I don't think it's actually so much of racism rather then preference.\n\nI just want to make it clear though that I do support racism, whatever is happening in US and a lot of other countries which is violent is a very horrible thing. Hello, I just watched your video. Three years after you made it. I hope you are still with us and a very belated Welcome. Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Celebrating obesity is absolutely insane and it sends the wrong message to young people. If a close one is fat of course I love them but I also tell them privately that they are a walking heart attack. I find it hilarious when white people in comment sections think they can educate you about racism through a screen more than your own history, experiences, and data can. Trust me white people, I know more about racism than you do.

I think what happens is people get grouped together from someone elses behaviour. I remember in Toronto in the 70's a guy from India or Pakistan planted a garden in a room of his apartment. The tenant below called the landlord to say there was a leak upstairs and his unit was being flooded. People judged all people of his ethnic background to this man's standard. You think that landlord wants to take another chance.

I learned something new today from watching this documentary, the fact that they actually named a town & a park Africville in the great white north. Some people are naive while others are not when it comes to racism. The very fact of the world has been conquered & dominated with the white supremacy mentality leave very little to be surprise that Canada had slaves. I think from what I've come to understands is that having slavery for 250 yrs most white Canadians will pretend to not be racist, but it's like those two kids in your class the one who had the paper thrown at him & the one who did it doesn't act like he did anything & the rest are just as bad because they saw who did it but are complicit by not saying anything. Nobody chooses subjugation, but they can be unwittingly manipulated into it. Take for example if you will the staggering number of women who get into, and stay in long term abusive relationships, there is a level of dependence that comes with it, and it seems like the women of Islam/Muslim faith are just as enthralled in it.
