When I become an official Canadian citizen do I have to be nice to everyone all of a sudden

I hope the guy gets arrested and becomes a lesson for others who are racist and attack others.

I’m sure there were circumstances that I’m not aware of but if he had $15,000 to hire lawyers, why didn’t he invest that in becoming a citizen somewhere legally?

Australia is also a multicultural country. Some racism exist but not much to be concerned of. However, stereotyping does exist, especially with aboriginal people. It is sad, but truth. I don't know why but I guess it is related to the history of the country itself. And I think this also happens to other places i.e. America (as a continent), aboriginal people become marginal.\nI hope those will pass... :(

I'm not aware of a US based media network doing an investigation like this. Fox news definitely wouldn't educate their viewers like this. Is that the difference between USA and Canada? Is Canada trying a little harder to be more self aware? I'm a US citizen (half white, half Filipino) and I am trying to be more aware of my racial biases and I've caught myself a few times. I think this is good and healthy. It's like working out a muscle to become stronger. Let's work on noticing our hidden biases.

I live in the USA. I have strongly considered moving to Canada. The US is great. But don't believe the hype that we are the greatest country on earth. That is nonsense.\n\nIt's very stressful living in the US. Yes, you can become wealthy. But you have to basically dedicate your life to working. We have to stop pointing at races, colors, nationality, religion for reparation ... we need to focus on the real issue ... you have big corporation getting out of control, billionaire now becoming trillionaire. That is crazy knowing that a lot of us are stuck at the bottom and real estate is getting unattainable, some part of the world people don't even get clean water ... wealth distribution is terrible and is getting worst every months. There's a need for a reset button, it's okay that you make money and that some go to your kids but there should be a limit of how much wealth one group of people should be able to get. Government aren't the solution because people in power there are put in place by the same group that need to be corrected ...

Ah...a LOT of Canadian dudes leave their family for weeks, even months to make money up North! Why is this made to seem so horrible and dramatic...Like, it cost us 15, 000 dollars ourselves to move to Sacramento with my husband's job with the Hard Rock Cafe Corp....we were living at the poverty line there...my husband was never home...my Visa was cancelled after 911. Gratefully, I was able to just boot it back home to Canada I detested living in the U. S , and only went along to support my American born husband, anyway. The bigger question is why rich people don't want to live in Canada? Is Canada economy big enough to sustain and grow wealth? Or Taxes are too high for them to stay rich? Is immigration only solution to all that Canada is facing globally? The real success of immigration will be when Canada can really attract global immigration like USA did in past.The truth is new immigrants struggle for job and Canadian experience so they prefer to go back.its a catch 22 situation for Canada ..they need people and money and have limited job and business opportunities. Money works in Canada. My friend and her husband got citizenship without living in the Canada at all. They both work in Dubai. Meanwhile, I started with a working visa, applied for a permanent residency, which took me 5 years and another 5years to become a citizen of USA.

Canada has been getting rich off all the Chinese immigrants for year's. Starting with Expo and the man that everyone loves Jim Pattison. Do your research. Again it is lack of money that is causing crime. The reason it appears there are fewer white people arrested is the white people had opportunity from racism in the form of slavery. All the slaves would have nothing when slavery was abolished. Racism was the reason we had slaves. Economics is why we have gangs.
