Not all Muslims are Jihadis but all Jihadis are Muslims, so if every Mosque preached against violence it could make a significant difference. Jihadis would be ostracised by their own religious community and therefore have less support. There is so much negativism associated with Islam and all Muslims get tarred with the same brush. They frighten us. Their dress is alien to us. ISIL and other groups do unspeakable things in the name of their religion. Their religion is too demanding. Christianity and other religions can adjust to scientific facts. We KNOW the world is round and there are other worlds, so far unpopulated, out there. Islam seems to demand adherence to its core beliefs written centuries ago and makes no concessions to emerging facts. Religion is the main influence in the life of Muslims and their Imams seem to have a lot to do with governance and education, instead of the separation of church and state to which we are used. If you come to Canada to live, then adjust to our values or leave, please. This doesn't mean that you have to stop attending a mosque but please discontinue the scary body coverings and start treating your women as equals, not chattels. Even some women will argue with that last bit, but why does a woman have to cover up and a man does not? This is NOT equality.

To be a true Muslim you must believe in the Quran above all else and give yourself, submit, to the will of Allah and believe Muhammad is His prophet. Our Western culture encroaches in theirs and vice a versa. We can never be compatible. They wish for the rest of us to submit to their caliphate.

I think a concern for the Islamic doctrine could be a valid concern in a secular nation. The other concern that goes right along with it is a discrimination against Muslim citizens. There is a clear ideological line that separates Islamic doctrine from Muslims, yet this line is blurred for far too many people.

The real problem is not growing anti-muslim sentiment. The real problem is Islam.

The best way to solve this problem is through education. Education is like a lighthouse that burns through the fog of religious rhetoric. As muslim people (and people of any religion, for that matter) become better educated, the grip of religion weakens and eventually disappears. It may take a few generations. I'm optimistic that Canada can beat this problem without violence.

I don't mean to be rude but how is burqa a choice? Why would anyone want to dress up in a black robe covering from head to toe, except eyes and sometimes eyes too? I know it's religious thing but how can one make it a personal choice to wear it? That too women? It's ok for men, they only have so many colours in their attire to choose, but women? Seriously? I think burqa should be for Muslim men who are ok with wearing the same colour everyday (in general). I like hijab, the head scarf, it comes in so many colours and it's so pretty, hijab makes you beautiful. Not burqa or niqab.

The thing is you hear things about ISIS or hamas and you try to separate it and say that it only the extremists, when in fact the moderates still support it. when speaking to a muslim friends of mine i asked her if your book says killing is wrong then why is there so much of it in islam? to my dismay she said that as long as they're killing for her religion its ok and that she supports things like the charlie hebdo shootings. She claims to support freedom of speech, but in reality, only things that are not opposed to islam. tried telling her if you ant talk about something freely then it isn't freedom of speech but she couldnt comprehend that. its disappointing to see that even though they are not the ones directly in the terrorist groups, they still support what they do.

Where are the women's feminist groups? I remember cries of 'Male chauvinist pig' back in the '70s and the title was well deserved by most men back then. Muslim fundamentalist men today are poster boys for that title and I hear no outcry from the feminists who have been battling for full equality with men for the last 100 years. Here we have subjugation of women in the name of religion and the feminists are silent. Hijabs and burkas are relics of the Dark Ages and have no place in modern western society.

I'm glad people in Toronto have finally realized who Muslims are and what they've been doing around the world. We must keep a check on these people by not allowing them to hold a demonstration etc. Even send them back to their country of origin.
