I can totally relate to people who aren't white. As a transgender woman I am almost always seen as suspicious. I've been homeless because very few people will rent to me. It’s clear that in general people tend to better identify with those that look like themselves and fear those who don’t. This has been imprinted in our minds all along our species evolution. Could we change that? Yes. Should we change it? Definitely. But it’ll not work if these subtleties are not accounted for and we oversimplify the matter by just pointing fingers to a specific group as the villain.

I get it I really do, I agree they may come across it MORE, but we ALL get treated that way regardless of color. I’m a white young female and have been followed around stores, been treated more rude than others around me that are maybe dressed nicer than me or look like they have more money, I’ve had different treatment than my peers, it completely just depends on the people we come across, and when we come across them, ect that determine all of it. But I can assure you I have went through the same things as any other color, maybe not as often but it does happen. I wish we could just all love each other, and that means both ways, you can’t judge me because of how the other majority of my color acts or gets treated, the same way you don’t want me to do the same. ?

I'm white, I've been followed in stores. I'm not stealing so I don't care. I rented a room to a woman from Iraq, she was nice but didn't speak english. She often left bits of tp where she sat, instead of womens pads I think. She moved 3 months later, she had stuffed cig butts under the plunger in her sink instead of the toilet. Immigrants had convinced her we overcharged and she moved in with them to her regret, but I wouldn't want her back. She was a needy pain. Canada is one of the worst places to immigrate to. I’m Canadian. I know what it’s like to live here. Plus I’m indigenous. So I’ve face racism and prejudice. Many think my people gets free handouts. From my experience that’s far from the truth. I’ve left my community for a better education. I was completely alone without parents and my siblings, living with an aunt that used me for another pay check. I couldn’t go to college because I couldn’t afford it, even tho I got accepted into three colleges. Now I’m working a part-time job that forces me to stand on my feet all day. Not many job opportunities are out here unless you’ve gone to college or obtain training. plus the rate for rent is horrendous.

I’ve lived on both sides of the border (New York and Ottawa/Gatineau). I am white. And I’ve been pulled over on both sides wile I was driving and wile a black person was driving. I’ve seen scary difference between the interactions with the police. Though the US cops are a little more harsh to the black people the Canadians ones weren’t much better. If you deny that is happening in Canada your wrong. If you deny it’s happening in the US your wrong. It happens no matter what side of that imaginary line on. Be the change you wanna see. If your white use your privilege to promote change. And for everyone, go to protest (safety there is still a pandemic going on), sign petitions, vote and get involved with government.
