The problem is poverty. The issue is to be poor and wanna succeed. If you're poor your kids will inherit your poverty sometimes ... more poverty. These Indians students are the meat for Westerm medium classes to mantain their payment, their status.

Exposing these issue is long overdue.
2022-10-21 0
And this is Canada's issue why?
2022-10-21 0
I would like to thank CBC Fifth Estate for their initiative to uncover the trauma these students go through. This is only one cornerstone of the story. Fifth Estate need to dig deeper and come up with part 2 to look in to our Federal Government policy regarding issuing Student Visa from India. Why these so called for profit colleges / agencies only targeting students from India and not from any other countries ? The Student VISA process is different for students from other countries. It’s our government who is exploiting these students and playing with their hopes and dreams.

So many excellent points\nMany of these points can be improved regionally, the biggest metropolitan cities amplify all these issues\nWe need minds like yours in politics...we are all living a rat race with way too many taxes!! \nIn the city's it's boring, out in the country we have fun being outside all seasons, the right layers and clothes help A LOT \nI'm first generation Canadian born, I'm used to all the taxes but they are brutal

These institutions need to be held accountable! stiff penalties and fines. should it cost a 2x or maybe 2.5x more to study as an international yes, but 5x is just ridiculous. This is where a percentage of other issues stem from!

Thanks The fifth estate for bringing this issue.

This issue does not have enough coverage, I'm so glad you guys made this video as even I knew nothing about the problems these students were having. Seeing her father makes me so sad but I'm happy he's able to stay positive and proud of her

Documentary misses a major issue. PR aspirants taking study visa route and filling up Canadian career colleges is the elephant in the room.
2022-10-19 0
team, check what's happening in the PR process.. the reason is linked to this as well ... LMIA is getting sold in open market without any issue.. ppl are buying these LMIA for $50k + .. investigate this as well

Wow!!! This made me so heartbroken and sad, looking at the plight of International Students and experiencing it firsthand myself, I just want to appreciate the true Journalism The Fifth Estate is doing. This is What true journalism is Putting light on social issues and projecting them for people to think and make corrections in society.
2022-10-18 0
Do people not realize that these issues are problems that all students have ? It’s not heightened just for international students.
2022-10-18 0
Thanks for highlighting this issue

This story has made me so ANGRY! To see what the Canadian government is allowing to happen these young people, I thought we were a country of compassion.this is so embarrassing as a country.\nThank you for bringing this issue to light.

You should do a documentary on Amazon losing third party sellers FBA inventory. Some investigative journalism is needed. Recently, reports of Amazon sellers inventory getting “lost” in the fulfillment centers is rising. This issue is very common in the Brampton warehouse, it’s almost a gamble to send in anything these days.

This issue is not related to Afghanistan for those who get confused very quickly ✌️

It’s having to take too many tests that’s why? You need slot of IQ \nTests so where do I stand in the immigration process. It’s not easy at all. I feel held back. Why is it too hard \nI am waiting to buy a PC laptop before I start to apply. How much it will cost ? \nThanks Jason but I feel it’s very hard. \nIt’s not like the UK. I can speak in English not sure about the French language. It’s a very hard situation to do but willing to pass all the tests ok. \nI hope to go abroad. Please let me know. The language test is hard and what else can I do. I use my mobile phone at the moment. Ok Jason ok. \nI am single at 54 years at the moment. \nI have good pass. Can I meet you on this issue. The Canadian government is well aware of the scam private colleges and that the majority of these students aren’t getting an education and are just cheap labour for Canada. The Minister’s feigned shock that it’s happening is pathetic. The fact that Canada didn’t sign the Code of Conduct that other countries did says it all. If Canada is so interested in cheap labour, then just issue closed work permits with a path to permanent residency. Why make them spend tens of thousands of dollars and put their families into debt at useless private colleges?

Just a shred of research beforehand would alleviate most of these issues. People seriously don't do any research before committing to something worth 74 years of salary? WHY?!

As always, the Fifth Estate is at the forefront of Canadian investigative journalism, shedding light on pressing issues and giving a voice to the little guy. Bravo, and thank you for your continued service to the well being and understanding of Canada and the world. We need you more than ever in this day and age of lies, half-truths and sensationalism.

❤Thanks for great work you do and I hope the government will do something about this issue and other issues you report to us.\n❤Charging 5X to foreign students are not fair and unjust and i feel sorry for international students and their families \n❤Many thugs of Sikh community in Canada are doing scams, frauds and corruptions in our innocent and unguarded systems and our government should stop them.\n❤

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. However, the issues you have faced in Australia will haunt you in some way in Canada too. I am a Canadian PR and just love Canada. The people are very nice, landscape is amazing, and it is cheaper than Australia. But it is just as hard in Canada to find a good job as it is in Australia. I am a Petroleum Engineer with over 10 years of experience working in a fortune 500 company, yet I cannot even get an interview for a related job in Canada. I also realized that lots of immigrants who came here through express entry and have years of experience work overseas despite staying in Canada for years due to the lack of opportunities. Anyway, best of luck to you.

So I think Canada is ranked 3rd best in the world to live in (I might be wrong but it's top 5 for sure). Your speaking about nothing to do in Canada, Health care concerns, high taxes or cost of living and other things (honestly your video was just hurting my head listing to). While Canada does have issues (like any other country in the world) What you outline highlights the privileged life you are living. You are correct in pointing out that the health care system is flawed, it is not perfect by all means but AT LEAST YOU ARE GETTING HEALTH CARE. Take the stats for example (I had the privilege of going to the hospital in Texas) My bill came to 3000 for a twisted ankle. They charged me over 500 dollars just for walking into the hospital. I'm not knocking that stats, but if you do not have money, you're fucked for health care. Instead of waiting 8 hours to see a doctor, you're now on Web MD trying to diagnose yourself. You are bitching about high taxes, how do you think Schools, Police and fire services, Emergency service hospitals etc etc etc get paid? through wishes and hope? You are again welcome to go anywhere else and enjoy whatever bs they have going they might have low taxes in other parts of the world but your going to have to pay for certain services you are taking for granted here. As Cost of living, if you live in Toronto or BC yes the cost of living is high, but at the same time, the average household income is high as well. I'm sorry minimum wage in most of Canada is roughly 15 dollars an hour, and the average incoming for most provinces is over 100k. I'm not sure what else to say on that subject :D As for things to do, seriously, stop living under a rock. Please go and travel Canada, to name a few things you can travel to Niagara, Go to Banff, Visit hot springs or enjoy any of our national parks. Not to mention all the multicultural festivals that take place. I guess what I'm trying to say here is, Canada is flawed and has its issues. However, It's a beautiful country and is a gem of a place to put roots down. I'm sorry you guys didn't feel that way.

As a Muslim I feel pain for him. Becoz look at his face how much he feel insulted and traumatized that he did not do anything just he is following his religion and he got arrested just for wearing kirpan and that even kirpan is allowed to wear in all over world for sikh. And look at the University they just issued apology and they just come clear.
2022-10-07 0
If he has to carry it all the time, why was it not an issue before? \nI mean, if he's always been wearing it, wouldn't the campus security know by now??
2022-10-05 0
This is ridiculous why is it the Police arrest people that have done nothing wrong. Our Police are ignorant & uneducated. A Embarrassment to our country. Wouldn't it be smart to Google issue.
2022-10-04 0
Who really is religious intolerant is very much clear isn't it? Always pointing fingers at India ( also why is it an issue when GUNS are legal, beats me!)??
2022-10-04 0
Fucking dimwits who are not educated about anything call cops on such issues! Must be a Karen!
2022-10-03 0
Guns are sold like lemons there but keeping a kirpan can create security issues... Wowo
2022-10-03 0
This is the issue with religion.\nYou pass it on as belief and shit at the expense of others safety
2022-10-03 0
I don't see an issue here as long as I can carry an ar15 as part of my religion ? but seriously at least he was calm and respectful... Sihks are the warriors yet every one I've ever met were the nicest most centered people you can imagine! I hope this is settled peacefully and responsibly, aka I hope the school doesn't kick him out or over exaggerate the punishment
2022-10-02 0
I think there are issues on both sides. The cop's mistake is obvious. That kid probably could have still be complying with his religion by either wearing it inside or use a knife with 2-4 inch blade (which a lot of other Sikhs do).
2022-10-02 0
It is not not an issue. Police are doing their work.
2022-10-01 1
A better understading of the issue is needed\n\nLook how calm the guy was
2022-09-30 0
Why did the university issue apology? Just cause his religion follows this doesn't mean we can put security at risk. A knife is a knife, religion shouldn't interfere with law and order

Good report, but the main issue is missing: they need to bring their tent for accommodation. Our people cannot afford to buy, let alone rent a place. So what have those new 400,000+++ let in this year been told about the prospects?\nYes, Canada is very generous with those numbers, but charity begins at home. Our seniors who have made this place so desirable, being born here or old immigrants, those are left in the cold. They are hit with all kinds of taxes on the money they saved with sacrifices, no longer allowed an investment pad, to supply rentals for those new lots coming in today. \nHowever, many others are making a killing in real estate. \nOh! Canada!
