Take a gander at any large, medium, and even a few small cities.\n\nHave you ever heard of Detroit (once proud home of my beloved Motown music), Baltimore (complete devastation), or Chicago (my home town—don’t make me cry)?\n\nThe entire homeless situation started when mental hospitals were snake pits and certain factions demanded that people be released.\n\nSure, it sounds humanitarian but they didn't bother to consider what would happen to mentally ill patients suddenly left to their own devices on the streets.\n\nThe do gooders actually were foolish enough to believe that the seriously ill patients (schizophrenic, bipolar, borderline, and plenty of others) would take their meds on their own. It doesn't work that way for patients who are not in contact with reality.\n\nNow we add extreme drugs (crack, meth, heroine, ketamine, whatever they hand out at parties, etc) and severe cases of PTSD/PTSS. It's obscene that we have veterans on the streets.\n\nHeath care--?. Pre Obamacare it wasn’t terrible but medicine had become a CYA project. We are so litigious (side eye to John Edwards ) that doctors practice defensive medicine and carry high limit malpractice insurance (guess who pays for that?). Every decision is driven by avoiding lawsuits, not proper patient care.\n\nPost Obamacare, US health care is an unmitigated disaster at every level. We’re short on doctors, too. Many quit and students are losing interest—medicine won’t pay enough anymore to justify $500K in loans.\n\nWe could repeal every bit of Obamacare tomorrow and still not be able to fix it. The leviathan grew tentacles that released toxins into every nook and cranny of the system. Now that they have buried themselves in critical layers, it would be impossible to yank them out.\n\nI have a good PCP who is booked 6-8 weeks out. Specialists? Hah. GI, neuro, and derm? Four to six month wait post referral.\n\nI never thought I would say such a thing but I would probably swap the Serial Sexual Predator occupying the WH for your Little Lord Fauntleroy.\n\nCan Canada compete with us in corruption? Even 0.25% increase will knock out many buyers; they won’t be able to qualify.\n\nWe are seeing huge jumps; young people have resigned themselves to never being homeowners.\n\nRacism? Again, look to the US. It’s nothing even close to what the make believe media caterwauls about. If white supremacists are behind every tree, where is the evidence? Surely, in 2023 has caught a cell phone video, right? Where are the videos? Show me the proof. There is plenty of footage of BLM destroying property and injuring, even murdering innocents. If we gripe about this behavior, we are raaayyyycccciiiiissssts.\n\nNo rational adult would claim that the US is not a violent country and becoming more so. Nor can we claim to have eliminated racism. That takes time; it cannot be done by force.\n\nOur economy went from smokin hot to dumpster fire in a short span of time. Pre election, head hunters were shaking the trees to find job candidates.\n\nOur unemployment is up as are our taxes with the stomping out of the tax cuts. \n\nDespite the endless sloganeering about how the Trump tax cuts only benefited “rich” people, it’s quite the opposite.\n\nHigh earners lost their pet deductions and lower income taxpayers were quite pleasantly surprised when they did their returns. The cuts were targeted to preserve wealth for the middle and lower classes.\n\nI could go on for another 100 pages but you get the idea and I get crabby writing for free.\n\nI will leave you with the caution that it’s best if you doubt and question any data and any stats coming from our government. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? Same here at Europe, especially Germany and Austria. Our safety and wealth is massive decreasing because of this. Living is now crazy expensive because so many migrants searching cheap homes, and there is so much more violence in the cities. \n\nSoon we will be more foreigners than nationals, people are already leaving the country because the culture is changing, you barely hear your own language and the crime rate is crazy. Such a bittersweet scene. People so desperate to gain entry into the USA. But, we can't even take care of our own citizens. Homelessness, drugs we can't even clean up our own cities. Let alone take care of others not from the USA. I can't imagine how these people feel. Fleeing their country to gain entry into the USA. I feel so blessed to be an American. May God find a home for all these people.

Well immigrants will have a relatively tough time. Canada is a diverse place. Live outside the big cities if possible. Speak English at home. Make friends with established Canadians. Be cash rich and house poor. Getting locked into a fat mortgage will just grind your happiness away.

This has been happening on mexicos southern border for months now. Mexicos president is wayyyy too nice to kick them out like the US is. And most of these people are stealing homes, kicking locals out of their homes and taking over small cities in Mexico. It's not usa problem neither Mexicos problem. It's the southern countries problem. They don't come here as peacefully as most immigrants that come from Mexico. So many people have already been hurt by all these people just barging into Mexico and people in Mexico are suffering for this same reason.

I can fully relate and agree with everything you said and more not said. I never thought I would hate being Canadian or my home country but Justin pushed me past the line. Countries in courage this so they can get employment in the US and send cash back to their families back home. The danger aspect of this is false, the city of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada (as of April 6th) has a murder rate 6.5 times higher than New York City's and it is also much higher than Atlanta's, keep in mind Atlanta and NYC both have gang wars going on currently (Oshawa, Ontario does not) and their murder rates are still much lower. Also, home invasions and break-ins are very common in Canada and drugs are also extremely common. Aba and Preach are both from extremely safe parts of Canada (Ottawa and Montreal). It is irresponsible to box Canada into one, especially when it could ruin lives.

Remember when New York provided houses for the illegals? They thanked the city with using drugs, prostitution, violence, and throwing away good edible food and still demanded more. I'm for the comments here where many of us can't afford housing, struggle to buy food, and struggle in keeping our jobs. Adding this amount of mass illegals in masses at a time will speed our downfall. Traffic in neighborhoods are clogged as there's 2-3 families living in a same home designed for a family of 3-5, not 12-20 people.

I am not against immigration but the fact of the matter is this in this country aren’t going well even for its own citizens. Homelessness is up, inflation is up, unemployment, gas and groceries are up. The average American has to make a choice every month wether they get to feed their family or catch up on bills. We need to improve our infrastructure some cities are literally falling to pieces. We need to fix our country just like these folks need to do to their home country, running from the problem won’t fix it.

You cannot come to Canada on a tourist visa to apply for a job. You can learn about the job market, or come if you are invited for an interview by a Canadian employer, but not apply with the intention of not going back home, if you are entering with a tourist visa.\n\nIt is possible for foreign citizen young adults to work in Canada in certain sectors like tourism, but this doesn't put you on the path to citizenship. \n\nThe best way immigrate is is to learn about the job needs (like healthcare) and to get those qualifications in your country, if possible. You should also avoid colleges that are set up for foreign students to get their student visa, and which don't have any Canadian students (of which there are many). The government is making it harder for these graduates to stay in the country. Moreover, if you are not well educated, you won't make enough money to be able to afford the high cost of living in a large city like Toronto or Vancouver. You would be better to be a licensed electrician or tradesperson and work in more remote areas or central Canada. Canada admits many immigrants very year, and if you are not well qualified, you will be competiting with these workers for work, with lower pay and job security, in sectors like food service and day-care.

Mean while Canadians are taxed heavy to pay for migrants. Many Canadians cannot afford to live in any of the bug cities. Migrants get subsidized homes, food and citizenship.

Poor people nobody wants them and they do need help, but why should Mexico and US have to resolve their problems. The Mexicans of the city are sick and tired of that situation. There are a lot of poverty in Mexico and with more immigrants the situation have worsened. US and Mexico need to get into an agreement and get these people home with better opportunities in their home country.

The difference in cost of living (Canada being higher) I think has become a problem. Also, everyone in the US doesn't have to live in NY or LA, so we can decide on a more affordable city to live in. It might not be as cosmopolitan as NYC or TO, but at least you can afford a home. My Mom was born in Ontario in the 20's, and migrated to the US in the 40's for lack of work. In the 80's, I would have loved to have moved to TO... even had girlfriends there, but doors just wouldn't open. Get in if you can, but if you take away the epidemic of U.S. gun violence (wish we could...), then America is still a good place to live and is still a magnet destination for the world. Great video!

That is still better than living in india. Quality of life in india is horrible. A single room apartment in india can easily cost between 25000-35000 in cities like pune , Bangalore, hyderabad and Mumbai. Mumbai is the most expensive. Salaries is so bad that an average person simply cannot have any dreams. Also many apartment in india which are rented don't even have gas so cooking food at home is not an option. Quality of food outside is horrible and also expensive. Water is of bad quality as well. So many things in india are actually more expensive than canada for example- phones , laptops, cars , fuel , protein supplements, real estate. My parents don't have enough money to send me to canada. So many times Living in india actually makes me wish I was never born. It's been years since I have stopped celebrating my birthday. Just existing and continuing to live because if I end my life who will take care of my mom and dad.

I’ve watched the video and I’ve read many comments. My message it’s to immigrants, Canadians & everyone. Just be some patient to read for you to think reasonable after this. I’m sure you’ll start to be reasonable regarding Canada. I had a good life good job & a nice home in Ukraine. Due to the barbarian russian invasion my family & I fled the horrific situation in Kharkiv city. I was driving a mini bus of 4 families! Most are children. We’ve arrived to Europe. Crossing many countries (Poland, Czechia & Austria) we’ve arrived to the country leading the EU. In Poland & Czechia, we’re treat very good by the people. In Austria we got hardly a payed hotel where children could get a rest!!! We still didn’t understand why they don’t want to give us rooms despite we’re paying for our staying!!! In Germany, I believe that the government did its best. But the number of comers is huge! Of course many they got disappointed as happened with me! But I still understand and believe that really the government & people did theirs best. So fast I got a job! The social connection helped to introduce me to the company! But i was not hired, I still to express myself & my qualifications. The manager was understanding, so he accepted to communicate in English and to offer me the job in case if I am successful doing the job during the first week at the site. I had to change the machines menu into English. So the manager was very satisfied with my job and I got that job. The rent! You’ll get it only if you receive the blessing of each member of the county and a very strong social connections! The doctors! To make just a blood work for my son it took 45 days of waiting! To get the doctor appointment, you need that a German guy call and get you the appointment! Because when my wife called, the secretary said: we don’t speak English! But when my wife went for her visit she figured out they’re speaking English better than her!!! My son has an issue of hyperactivity, so they refused to accept him at school more than 3 hours a day! And he was excluded from the birthday parties of his colleagues aswell other events! Other Ukrainian children, they were just attending classes! Just a show! No body cares how help their integration! About, the taxes! The half of my income was going to the government! The money back?! Only 200 euros/ month for my kid. And nothing else. Nothing! To get a neurologist appointment for my son it was necessary to wait 3 months! Prices?! Everything expensive! Technology?! Not better than Canada at all. Bureaucracy, Canada is much less. That's so funny and true at the same time. Sadly, I was born in the falsely advertised 'Best place on Earth, 'Canada' and therefore, cannot claim asylum in any other country, so I will pass away alone in hospice with 5 other dying strangers. BC is the dumping ground for drug addicts, Trudeau made a promise and failed to follow through. So one province carries the load for the other provinces. Welfare will purchase air fare to fly their addicts from their province to BC. Premier John Horgan has renovated hotel after hotel, put 400 addicts in the renovated hotels, clearing out the tent city, however in less than one month another 400 drug addicts have moved to BC forming another tent city. Trudeau hasn't given Horgan a cent for care, it comes from our taxes. BC pays more tax than any other province and our annual rates are far higher than any American State. So if you don't want to pay those taxes don't pick BC as your home province.

Honestly I love my home, but I know it can be better and I believe we as Americans can make it better and that we should travel not just the world but our own country. There are millions of Americans who only stay in ether the cities or their state/town

As someone from Belgium that now lives in Columbus OH because of marriage, you're spot on with everything. Safety? Limited. Sprawl? Terrible. Rent? Eh it's not that bad. I make a base salary of $82.5k and my wife makes $50k. Our 2br 1ba apartment's rent is about $1000. It's a nice place, but it has some flaws. Our next place will be around $1500. I've told my wife I don't like the sprawl and lack of public transport here and I want to move to a place where that is less of an issue: Chicago, NYC or Boston. However, the latter two have crazy high rent.\n\nI must add, the terribly unsupported public education system in Columbus is by far the worst reason. My wife is a teacher at a Columbus City School that's almost 100% black. White families put their kids through private schools. The rest of the kids have terrible home lives and are therefore incredibly ill-behaved and under-educated. So much so that the teachers just CANNOT keep up with Ohio's learning standards. By the time these kids graduate (and that's a big IF), they would have learned about 20% of what a regular 18-year old would have learned in most of the world. This is in part due to:\n1. Parents that do not involve themselves in what their children do, and therefore do not discipline appropriately.\n2. Terrible school admins that force teachers to lower their standards to have a high passing rate for the school (otherwise it gets shut down). Also, due to the No Child Left Behind Act, admins also force teachers to teach how to pass state tests (repetitive bullshit) instead of important learning materials and/or critical thinking skills.\n3. A lot of these students are pushed into the gang lifestyle and see no future in their education. They don't even try.\n4. Burned out teachers that grew tired of the negative ROI and start giving out poor and inadequate work packets. However, I don't like blaming teachers, especially because my wife is the hardest working person I know.\n\nIt's hard to see my wife come back every day, exhausted. It pains me both for her and her kids. America doesn't give a fuck about education. The big theory is that they're purposely not giving public schools attention so they can be phased out and private education becomes the norm. And if you can't afford it? That's great, we need factory workers.\n\n\nI might convince my wife to move to Europe eventually (luckily a European marriage visa isn't as stupidly hard to obtain as it was for me to get here). Having kids in America is not something I'd like to think about. For now, I'm taking advantage of this high salary to save as much as I can and focus on advancing in my career. I live in a small town / City that has about four to five thousand people in Southwest Louisiana and we have to lock our doors. I'm not listing everything that I have experienced but my parents home has been broken in three times in my lifetime.

When I lived in NJ, people would work in NYC but wanted to live in central or southern NJ. I had a job that paid me $22/hour back in like 2012. But I worked with a guy who quit his job in the city because he couldn't stand the commute. Him and his family moved to a cheaper area of NJ (still nice, but cheaper) and he took a job where I worked. He told me that if I was driven, that same job paid $40/hour. And even then, he couldn't really afford to live comfortably in the city. But eventually he found it most beneficial to take a lower paying job closer to home and find a cheaper place to live. That is city living though. It's always way more expensive. But I agree, living in a city in the US is ridiculous when it comes to cost of living.

Cities just about everywhere suck. It's just outside of the us it's your in a city or it's basically the country. Us suburbs are usually better than the city. Plenty of spots to eat, easy to get around(with car) and overall very safe .\n\nIf I want to go to a city easy to take a train in and spend the day their. Then go home and not worry about it.\nThey do have a point of public transportation. Some cities get it well, others don't( looking at you ny)

I grew up in the Bay Area, CA, and I moved away 12 years ago to NC. Best decision ever. I miss the west coast because the views are world class (the drive up and down highway 1 is just breathtaking), but I can afford multiple homes where I am, and I'm not rural. Just live in a suburb right outside of a major city. I can afford to raise a family, send kids to private school. I can afford vacations....I can afford to live! It's also why I am not liberal anymore. After moving from a Democrat controlled area to a mostly Republican controlled area, I converted. Lower taxes, better cost of living, and less crime...It just makes sense. I'm also hispanic, and let me tell you, I appreciate the racism here! I know that sounds odd, but for one, there really isn't that much racism to deal with, but when it confronts you, you know it! It's not hiding behind some fake woke smile, it's blatant and obvious, and I'm good with that because I can just navigate around it vs constantly second guessing.

I stayed in Montreal and visited Quebec (I had a bit of culture shock being in Montreal because of how CLEAN the city was. Compared to places like Philadelphia and NY). Without a doubt the quality of food is different in Canada vs. the states. For the first time I ate Nox for breakfast in Montreal (Salmon with cream cheese on a bagel) and was like wow this is good! When I ate it back home, the taste, texture was different. \n\nMontreal Nox tastes like and had the texture of salmon. Where as in the US it's like mushy and a bit jellish.

It's cheaper to live in Dallas Texas than Montreal, which is one of the cheapest cities to live in Canada, so I don't know where you're getting lower cost of living (and yeah I heard you're trying to compare apples to apples, but this is impossible and honestly, wtf would someone want to live in a crime ridden city like NYC? The socioeconomic flaws are much difficult to compare considering the very foundations that birthed America as well as its intricate and dense population. There are variety of implications that comes to accommodating a diverse population of 380 million which is 10 times the population of Canada (these can also be structural). The rent in Montreal is not as high relative to major urban cities in America simply because of the demand. People simply do not want to live in Montreal at the same rate that they do for places like San Francisco and New York. Moreover, places like New York and San Francisco, (this can also include Toronto/Vancouver), have rigorous rent controls as well as zone restriction laws that limits the capacity for home builders to produce affordable housing, (especially when compared to Quebec). I live in Canada, but I even I must admit that economic success and freedom is much higher in the U.S. Name me another Western country with more african Billionaires/Millionaires than America? Canada is immensely reliant on Government to regulate trade and commerce and due to our lack of entrepreneurial spirit, I expect that we will remain a commodity-based economy for decades. This is especially a sad reality if interest rates continue to rise, as it will negatively impact the purchasing power of our dollar which is indexed to commodities . \n \nCheers,

I’m from Miami and moved up to Toronto in 2012. I’ve slowly watched this city decline in every way possible. Gun crime, drugs, prostitution etc. The whole gay and trans movement is outta control too. That being said the violence isn’t even close to what I grew up around back home. There’s a lot of wannabe gangs out here. I used be gang affiliated and I’ve met ALOT of fake thugs out here. Toronto's biggest issue is spill-over into the rest of the Greater Horse-Shoe, one of the weirdest issues was at the beginning of the Pandemic, there was this weird mass exodus of the Toronto Population where everyone was moving to smaller cities to work from home, the costs of Homes in Hamilton, Halton, Burlington, Mississauga, Vaughn, Richmond all exploded is costs due to this. COL in these cities is now very high. Like the Average house in Hamilton now is about 500k-600k, Hamilton doesn't even have a Million in Population yet.
