Canada's becoming far too expensive. I'm retired now and will be putting my house on the market in September. As soon as it's sold, I'll be off for where I can have access to a good health care system, something that's become more and more important for me as I age.

I am saying this coz I have seen this with my own eyes. Police is incompetent here. They will arrest you but will leave you after 15 minutes after making you sit in your car. I know people who have 5 6 DUI’s and they still drive drunk. They do it coz they know the shortcomings of police. They know jails are full here. Checkout what a high ranked police official said about cars being stollen in big cities of Ontario (its on youtube) for which he was trolled badly. An average Canadian make $2200 to $2500 per month if they work @minimum wage, which is below the poverty line in canada again you can research about it if don't believe me. Teenagers ko paise ni count karna ata agar kisi ko paise dene b pad jaye... 15 16 year old kids ask their parents how to pay and how much cash they need to pay, Canada is Not at all good education wise. I dont even want to talk about the health care system of Canada it literally sucks. I got my family doctor after 6 years. India me raho Canada ghumne aoo vapis chle jao.. Saw this coming years ago, sold everything and moved to Thailand. After 13 years I'm still here. Just came back from a 3 month stay there. Covid did so much damage to the place economically, socially and politically. I had fun, but no plans to return to the US to live. I'm also following the crazy madness that is happening in Canada. My neighbor here is from Canada as is a few other friends. I like their tax situation much better than mine. Anyway. Life is good here, easy to travel around SEA, cheap flights, affordable hotels and good food. Enjoy your journey where ever you go. I'm going to guess you might be moving to Europe, possibly Eastern Europe?

canada has been sold to realestate investors and their wheel greasers (the banks). all investments are going toward realestate investements and hardly anything toward technology. canadians need to look outside the box and create a new political party that is on the side of citizens and not investors. with current political system the impovrishment of canadian socitey will stay intact

Canadian here. Trudeau is a diaster. He's letting in 1.4 MILLION migrants every year into a country of 40 million, population is exploding, housing is nonexistent, healthcare has collapsed and its overcrowded and homelessness has exploded. Trudeau has turned Canada into a third world country. It's literally India now. And Canadians have been sold out. Canada is over. Trudeau has destroyed it completely and turned into New Mumbai. I'm ashamed of what has become of Canada. Our quality of life has nosedived under the Canadian version of Maduro.

I've traveled to Europe, visited most Asian countries. I really like Japanese society, most people are very nice country is clean, cost are reasonable. Always happy to come home to Calgary it's still great as I own my own house car etc. Youth has been sold out for the bankers.

The trouble is... where in the world do you go to escape the madness? I came to Canada in 2000 from my birth country the UK to escape the big state, globalist EU... Canada was great & they sold a proud national identity which is important to me... not any more!

I left Canada in 2000 for an attractive job opportunity in Belgium. I had been workng in Canada for 20 yrs at that time and all of my education was completed in Canada. I did not leave Canada due to any major dissatisfaction with the country, but rather a professional opporunity that arose and the chance to experience Europe as a resident rather than a tourist. I never expected to stay in Europe long term, but one job led to another and I stayed on in Belgium until 2017 when I moved to Spain for my (semi-)retirement. Although I rented out the condo I owned in Canada from 2000-2022, after 5 years living in Spain, I decided I am not moving back to live in Canada and sold it. I have no regrets having left Canada when I did, nor do I regret my move from Belgium to Spain. I still visit Canada about once a year to visit family and friends, but a move back to my homeland is not something I would now seriously consider. \n\nGood luck with your move and settlement in your new home, wherever that is!

Great video Alina and thank you for sharing your well balanced perspective. Born and raised in Canada to immigrant parents who came in 1970. I left in 1992 and came back in 2015 and left again for good in 2020 mainly due to the draconian covid restrictions. It was the best decision I ever made in my life and I have never looked back. From my point of view, Canada is beyond unrecognizable today and the leaders in Ottawa have sold the country and the people down the river along time ago and sadly the real serious Canada is nothing but a memory. I feel sorry for the immigrants who come to Canada and have a romanticized vision of the nation. They have no idea what they have gotten themselves into. When I saw that this was posted by the Guardian my first thought was the article would be a narrative slanted heavily to the left. I'm glad to see that there was some accurate reporting, but also not surprised to see the usual left wing disingenuousness. For example it gives the impression that the Take Back Canada Reddit group was taken down because it was somehow racist, violent, etc., rather than the more likely explanation that Reddit, like most other big tech platforms no longer allows discussions that go against the political narrative. \n\nLet's not forget that The Guardian and those of their ilk are largely responsible for the mess Canada is in. They sold the Marxist narrative. They promote wokeism, and the idea that to have a contrary opinion on immigration is racist. Now they're trying to pretend they care. It's all BS.

Im in BC . I got rid of the tenants cuz they would be late. Filled 15 non payment / late payment notices with the tenancy branch and delivered to tenant. The tenancy branch did absolutely NOTHING. 8 months later and loosing $36, 000 I made the decision to never rent ever. I got Airbnb license and am glad I made the right choice. I make the same rental income with no headache, and less use of the house. My two friends who had rental properties just stopped renting and sold them and put their monies into other businesses. Id say if you are renting, sell them and do something else cuz its a no win situation in canada. These politicions know there are more renters to give them the votes.

The Canadian job market has been disrupted by the Canadian Employers too! There were permits that allowed Canandian employers to hire people from abroad and sometimes they sold a single permit for 50k to 70k! How come the restaurants with dead sales are still running! The Landlord Tenant Act should be re-named as simply The Tenant Act. I used to be a landlord. I sold out because of too many scammers.

Some of these slumlords deserve everything they are getting. I am trying to convince my neighbor not to pay their rent as the slumlord evicted a very nice family after they refused to pay a $1500 increase claiming he is selling the house. He never sold but he sure did turn the home into a rooming house with over 20 students. It is a F@king nightmare.

As a landlord - I had this happen to me .\n$35k in unpaid rent which I never got back after the tenant moved out .\nI learnt that the tenant had done this to 2 other landlords prior .\nIt’s a shame - my house was priced fairly and was a brand new home . There was no reason to pay other than greed .\nI have since sold the home and moved on : it’s one less home for people who can’t afford to buy at the moment to rent .\nThis stupid system needs to be overhauled .

This is an example why the rental options will become worse, more expensive and more difficult to find. I used to have 3 doors (rent out three units) but as it became more difficult to collect rents, hold renters to account, I sold them and moved on. As more small landlords like me get discouraged and get out of the business, the fewer options that will be out there - only the big companies will be in the market and prices will rise.

immigration is the sold out left wings peoples way to please there corporate overlords. i am a hardcore union and labour guy flooding the work market with immigration workers limits our ability to negotiate for better pay meaning companies can take more.\n\ni am not against immigration in total to have growth in the west and fill in the birth shortfalls we need immigrants. but the amount the west has taken in is much greater than we can expect grow and only causes us to get homelessness and gettos while the haves struggles to raise wages. what the common man wants is reasonable figures of immigrations and due to the flood might mean the coming years 0 immigrants is on the table.

As an Indian immigrant myself, I have tremendous sympathy for Canadians. \n\nThe so called diploma mills were always a danger but online classes during covid meant they could quadruple their attendance (and thus, their bottom line). The degrees offered by these colleges are worthless and that's why anyone who's moved to Canada in the last 4-5 years is finding it difficult to get meaningful employment.\n\nOn the other side, the Canadian dream really is sold as a cheaper and safer alternative to the American Dream. This is especially rampant in the state of Punjab where people from villages sell their ancestral property to move to Canada as students only to find the stalemate that is the job sector.\n\nThis in turn puts pressure on the economy, the housing market, and the welfare programmes. I think the immigration needs to halt for a while. A LOT of students are lacking in technical and linguistic skills to propel the Canadian economy and society forward and they'll need to not be given Permanent Residencies. PR should go to highly skilled immigrants who are integrating into the Canadian society instead of turning Brampton into mini India.

Buyer Beware especially if sold by the brown culture who are known to cut corners and they do not care, even if it is fellow brown people they get the money from, all they care about is getting the money, once they get it they forget who you are. Do your own due diligence and don't act like a moron, you must check out the institution and verify with the Ministry of Education that it is an accredited institution. If you get lazy and opt out of doing so then you have only YOURSELF to blame.

My grandparents on my mom's side came over from Scotland after WW2. They bought one of the cheap plots that were available then, but then my grandfather BUILT their house. He was a tradesman (dual carpentry/electrician certified). Lots of that house is still original, with occasionally new paint, and looks new.\n\nFast forward 75 years and we're importing Business Majors and IT specialists to cities that need construction workers and trades people. The houses being built start falling apart before you finalize the paper work. If you DO have the skills and desire to build something yourself, there's a lengthy approval process ahead of you just to get started.\n\nHope you didn't come here with a medical degree, or a specialized certification. That's another long process to be approved to work here. Doesn't matter if you came from rural China or you worked in the US at a major hospital. \n\nLawyers, lobbyists, politicians, and landlords have destroyed the Canadian dream, and we're all sick and tired of it. I have a lot of sympathy for immigrants sold a lie, who come here and end up homeless or worse, but we can't stop what's happening abroad. We can only change what we do here.
