Trump is going to win the election and close the Canada USA border which will cripple the Canadian economy.

We might have found a way to save the Canadian economy. \n\nWe can market ourselves as the backdoor into the US to all legal and illegal immigrants\n It makes no difference to Canada, since we keep an open border to all anyways

1) Canadians lure Indian students for $$. It is a significant amount of $$ and boost Canadian economy 2) Indian students 50% wants to finish the course applied, a job after the course and PR and 50% work immediately and don't attend college, wants to go for PR 3) Indians take all the jobs in the supermarket, Mall jobs, fast food stores etc even if the wage is less than Canadian 4) Canadians cannot get any jobs either awaiting government help or going into doll. This same happens in the USA, Australia, UK and NZ

I am also India but it is illegal to pressurize government to extend their work permit or grant citizenship eventhough you have contribute enough to the Canadian economy. It is their country and they have rights who will come and who will leave. If they want to stay then they should start their businesses or consult to government migration agents. It is disappointing to see international students doing such unmature thing. Instead of doing protest they should learn about upcoming new courses in the era of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Electric Vehicles, Cyber Security, Healthcare and Agricultural Technology. Such skill set being encouraged by western governments they would love to have you stay in their country by boosting their economy.

This is nonsense if 10% student are bad why blaming other 90% other who are contributing to economy paying taxes. Indians student are not responsible for the canadian problems

Canada used to be such a great country while growing up until our overly high paid politicians have worked with corporations against Canadians to destroy our economy.\nCanadians used to be polite but are bitterly angry now. Just shameful.

Canada's population of 40 million is not enough to drive the economy big. An MPP long time ago wanted Canada's population to be around 100 million to drive the economy. The usa to do this the time of cowboys gave free land to anyone who went west. Some immigrants due to poverty, never being able to establish themselves and racism did not even get married or only have one child contributing to Canada's declining birth rate. Canada's population that grew from 25 million to its current populatio of 2024 is due to immigration not child birth. New immigrants is what is driving Canada's economy. Who do you think is buying houses, condos, furniture, cars, etc. Many old generations Canadians of english, Scottish and irish descent don't and pass their house on to their kids if lucky.

As FRENCH, I think it is more an issue with policies set by both governments!!! You know you bring students IN and why don’t you build houses and encourage construction???? In France, many students (mainly Africa, and French departments like Guadeloupe, Tahiti or Martinique) come to study there (for free and we are proud of it!!!) BUT - unlike Canada - we do NOT have the same issues as Canada (our healthcare is NOT under pressure and our housing prices haven’t really increased that much as compared to Canada for example!!!) to me, the students are NOT to blame!!! It is the fault of the deciders (at different level) who have FAILED to set the right policies!!!! The schools are also to blame as some (not all) are so obsessed with making profits out of the higher international fees, which by way, subsidize Canadian students!!! So in Canada (not in France or Germany), the money that allows schools to function come from international students who BRING LOTS OF MONEY for the Canadian economy!!!! in France, it is different as the universities are FREE and are fully subsidized by the French government… but yes;) you have to speak French fluently to attend them!!! \nSo dear Canadians, do not blame foreign students thanks to whom your universities thrive and remain existant!!! Without them (namely the Indians too), the Canadian universities will struggle to find money and funding! Remember, the system in France is TOTALLY different!!!!

The headline is misleading as everyone knows citizenship can not be demanded. What these entitled foreign students are demanding is perm residency via extended work permits. Extending permits to five years (as they've demanded) would DESTROY the Canadian economy and have a permanent effect on Canadian identity as well as no end to the housing crisis. Furthermore, many of these students who originate from India's two most poorest and crime ridden states: Punjab and Gujarat, will contribute to the growth of crime cartels, such as the thriving car theft ring targeting cars in the Toronto GTA and the Air Canada gold heist that took place at Toronto Pearson Airport in 2023 resulting in the largest theft in Canadian history ($22.5 million). Guess what country where all six suspect are from ? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

The biggest issue that Canada faces is imminent. All these foreign students should simply stop coming to Canada. The entire tertiary education system would collapse. These colleges and university have been gouging these foreign students for years. This at its core has nothing to do with jobs. it is xenophobia. The white Canadian's are seeing too many colored people and it scares them. White kids dont want to work at Tim Hortons for minimum wage. The economy needs these immigrants more than anything. Do you have any idea of the amount of taxes these immigrants pay annually? These institutions are for Canadians to get an education so that we can compete economically with other countries. If other countries all send their people here and those people stay, the economy for Canadians gets ruined and now we are no longer competitive. Our own government is destroying the economy of Canadians for that of foreign countries and this is the opposite of what these institutions are for.

Indian businesses in Brampton/Surrey/Malton/ Mississuga and Nova Scotia hire only Indian students from India give them work for 2 years fill up all the documents for PR. Canada specially British Columbia is full of people from India and China. There are many economical sectors where everybody working is from India like private transport, taxis, 7 eleven, supermarkets and big retail stores. In the last 10 years the province became an Indian colony. Is this bad? Not sure because the economy is still dominated by big monopolies who have privileges from the Canadian government. Foreign Professionals still find restrictions to work or their diplomas never will be recognized. They are competing for low salaries and low income jobs that never will fill their expenses. It’s more like an international slave trade version 3.5

Please do not let anyone on a study visa with an IELTS score below 7 in each of the sections, also test the students at the border on behavior and other Psychology related issues. This will ensure proper candidates are allowed, who know English and can speak it comfortably. Also train the existing students on skills required to contribute to Canadian labor market that too free of cost, this is due to lack of proper course curriculum required for the labor needs of Canada and practical training availability. Immigration is not just a money making machine, there has to be a vision and proper planning before brining in millions of immigrants who will eventually settle here, but their productivity and integration should bring long term benefits to the economy as is expected from a great nation like Canada.

As a FRENCH individual, here is my perspective; we humans look for what is good for us!!! I am French (I consider myself very lucky as France is a very stable and prosperous economy) but many French also look for better opportunities abroad, namely in Switzerland (higher salary and better work packages but that influx created a xenophobia against French living in Swiss) and the US (tech jobs mainly, which are better paid than in France)!!! We ALL do it!!! Many white South African women also do everything to marry British, Germans, Canadians on purpose (the media never mentions that and we know why) so that they can escape the extreme environment in South Africa!!!! It is just that the media tends to focus on black and brown people as it sells better!!! Ohhh and did you forget those many North Americans who flock to Mexico, and South America to run away from the horrendous cost of living!!!! Same for those many Canadians (a common trend those last years) who start to flock into the US to run away from higher living costs in Canada and for higher paid jobs in the US!!!! Okay may be some lesser developed countries do it but let’s realize that WE Europeans also move and emigrate when things turn “grill our ar**s” where we live!!!! Ohhh and have we forgotten already those Italians who moved to France in 1900s to escape misery and hunger in Italy!!!! Ohhh …. we already forgot!!!! And what about the Ukrainians, many of whom come to Canada now and take jobs and reap benefits from the local? You also need to include the deluge of fake asylees with students and TFW. Everyone is so obsessed legitly with those two groups that no one is mentioning the surge of easy visitor visas to those turning into fraudulent asylum claimnants and clogging the system. They're being paid on average 17K from taxpayer (stats from govt. PBO), creating pressure on housing and jobs. As a matter of fact, this group is worse than students and TFW coshidering the latter group is paying something in the Canadian economy (although that contribution is negligible at this point). I would also like to point to not conflate real asylees with these visitor visas to asylum seekers. They are economic migrants and NOT any asylee; fraud perpetrated by JT and his incompetent ministers.

Truth is Canadians don’t have money to go to university…. They depend on student loan from Immigrants hard work n contribution to the economy. Is it not an irony ??????? Also remember international student pay 3 to 5 times more for school fees in cash!. Government knows this but you don’t??

The government under Trudeau is a disaster and it shows that he does not know what he is doing. He is giving foreigners the chance to thrive in Canada and does not think of the Canadian residents. A lot of the students uses every loophole to stay in Canada either before and after education to secure permanent residents. Why are students allowed to work. They are supposed to help the economy by going to school, not taking jobs from Canadians.

There not coming here for education, its a joke , reality check....800 million Indians only make $2 a day in India, there here to stay and then they bring there wife's, parents ,children, etc under compassionate grounds. People need to stop trying to game our immigration system. The abuse is hurting the Canadian people and immigrants. We have mass homelessness and housing crisis, a drug epidemic and high unemployment. Our economy is in recession. There are no opporunities here anymore. The Canadian dream is ruined. Its very sad.\n\nPeople who arriving with no where to live or work and are living on the streets in -40°. People are dying on out streets becoming isolated in a foreign nation they dont know how to survive in and lots are becoming depressed and addicted to drugs or start commiting crimes. Lots are saying they regret coming to Canada and that they were better off before. Many are leaving Canada, because its too expensive to live in Canada, even for high skilled Canadians.\n\nIts not the promise land that people coming here think it is. Canada is in trouble.

From beginning people are immigrating from place to place and one country to another. Focusing one group of people is disgusting. There are refugees and illegal immigrants and so many are coming to the country. The country allows people to come and immigration improved the economy a lot.
