I mean he’s certainly well spoken Im sure we all can agree but factual….not so much. People do your research on Chinese Triad gang members buying up real estate in Vancouver to launder money from drug sales. There is no doubt a growing problem in Canada that is impacting the US. By the numbers Canada illegal border crossings and Fentanyl crossing volume might pale in comparison to Mexico but it’s important to note that it’s still a rising problem they’ve yet to fully understand. Look at how much of the Northern US border is unguarded compared to the southern border. This tariff war between the US and Canada is no doubt a problem but Canada is absolutely a part of the reason it exists. In the end please remember there’s always two sides to every story and mainstream media is anything but objective when it comes to how they cover them.

As a Kamala voter and as an American who loves Canada, I apologize for the hideous manner in which my government is treating our neighbor and ally. Here's my issue with Trudeau ...you now placed your country in a position where this becomes a game of tariff chicken. This won't end well for Canada no matter what tariffs you try to envoke to counter Trump. The U.S. aren't dependent on Canada. So, what is your real endgame here matching the tariffs? Is that what the people of Canada really want to get into? Doesn't seem smart to me. It just looks like a lazy game of posturing trying impose some front like the U.S. need to back down from Canada. I booked a trip to Florida months ago. Long before talk of tariffs. If I could get my money back for the plane tickets and Disney tickets I’d cancel the trip in a heartbeat and spend that money at home in Canada. I believe we need to look at WHY Trump is placing tariffs and it does seem more than just fentanyl and a protected border. I read that Canada has had tariffs on American imports for years before Trump took office.

Trump will do anything he can to fund his tax cuts, so now he needs to broaden his Tariffs to Canada and Mexico

Canada has had tariffs on American products for over 10 years, but the United States has no tariffs on Canada until today. Canada should think about that.

How refreshing to listen to an intelligent leader! i only take issue with him calling Trump a smart guy. Trump will never do anything but ridicule and insult Trudeau and Canada no matter what concessions Canada makes. Can we have the Canadian President instead of ours? Both Canada and Mexico responds to the requests and demonstrate they are trying to be our allies and for some reason we still proceed into a trade war. I think there's an aspect of the tariffs where it's a tax that's not called a tax, where there will be reductions in taxes for the wealthy and then these tariffs are added taxes for the general population.

Not only is his trade war with Canada, Mexico, and China breathtakingly stupid, it also raises prices for Americans, costs American factories jobs, and isolates us from our allies. And just today, Trump paused aid/arms to Ukraine. Putin has no incentive to make concessions now, knowing that Trump has cut off arms to Ukraine. Our apologies to your Canada. We are fucked! If you could put a 100% tariff on Tesla, you'd be doing us a HUGE favor.

Canada has known for decades that we have put too many eggs in one basket - selling our resources primarily to the USA. We've had tariffs before and worked with them. Yet we still keep selling to the USA. This time is different. In conjunction with the tariffs, we have an American administration that is flat out insulting Canada. Saying we wouldn't exist economically if it wasn't for the USA. It's at a time when the USA won't promise not to use military force to annex land (Greenland) from a decades old ally. A time when clearly Putin is calling in his chips for whatever he has over Donald Trump. Canadians have had enough. We are directing our governments, provincial and federal, to finally, finally break from the north-south trade links. We need to establish stronger east-west trade links. The resources we have are wanted by many countries if the USA does not want them. It does mean much work within Canada. We need to get our AB-BC pipeline finished as well as the new sea terminal so we can ship our crude oil and natural gas to Japan and if need be, to China. We finally need to get out pipeline to the Atlantic coast finished so we can supply the UK and EU with our products. We need to double our rail capacity for shipping potash, uranium, rare minerals to Asia or Europe. Just as Trump hopes for a golden age of American companies coming home and building new plants in the USA, this will be a golden decade for Canada to create transportation corridors to get our resources to other buyers. America will have to look elsewhere for his raw materials. And we all know what that is - RUSSIA. They've already offered their rare minerals and crude oil. This is all clearly a well thought out scenario from the people working behind Trump to dismiss America's allies and trading partners - have us turn against the USA - as the excuse to open the door to Russian imports into the USA.

I genuinely wonder what a balance sheet would like before tariffs between what Canada gains from U.S. vs U.S. benefiting from Canada. I’m neutral because I don’t know enough. But I feel like that would be a good place to start before putting the last few months at the forefront.

First time I’ve heard Trudeau speak the truth. Although it has been Trudeau’s economic policies that essentially brought about the tariffs- particularly the depreciating Canadian dollar caused by Trudeau’s policies. Not to mention Trudeau’s admission that Canada’s border was porous for drugs.

Canada responded with positive processes and donald still applied tariffs. This shows his motivation and his truth.

So for everyone fawning over Trudeau's ability to be articulate, that is impressive to you only because the U.S. has had a piece of steamed broccoli named Biden as a figure head for the last 4 years.\nI can't say I understand Trump's strategy with respect to Canada, but I absolutely know that Trump is no Socialist like Trudeau is. Compare Trump and Mr Trudeau purely on their demeanour and the words that they speak. Mr Trudeau has demonstrated here that he is a skilled statesman, he can speak coherently and powerfully. He's not spouting ridiculous insults in the face of Trump's tariffs. Yep it's going to be interesting \nAs I work for an international Automotive injection molding company based here in the US\nWe import Raw materials from Europe and China plus within the US and who knows where these materials come from.\nBut we also export finished products and materials to Europe, China, Canada, Mexico just to name afew.\nThat is a lot of tariffs placed on these products and that doesn't include tax, cost of labor, manufacturing costs\ngoing to be interesting what the future holds

Why is no one asking how much Fentanyl is brought into the USA Directly (not via Mexico or Canada)? Surely more is imported directly into the USA or even Manufactured on American soil than arrives from Canada??
