As someone who grew up as an expat those statistics you quote and those descriptions of the hardships you encounter are common among expats. It is that first year that determines for most people how long they are going to stay in a foreign country. The first year of living in a foreign country is the hardest and 1 in 3 expats moving back to their home country earlier than they intended is pretty common. The turn over rate for expats is about the same as those numbers you quoted. IMO this seems to have very little to do with Canada and more about what it is like to live abroad.

Living in QC for 5 years now. Took me more than a year to get my family doctor. He dumped me a year after our first appointment. I had to re-register to get a one assigned to me and everytime I contact them they tell I have to wait. Have no family doctor since then. Think I'll probably be living elsewhere/abroad when they get me a new doctor.

Sad, this is not the Canada I first grew up in. Being destroyed by liberalism

Canada is not all that. First you have a government in Trudeau that wants to censor the internet, confiscate legal firearms, take away private property without due process, limit farming, euthanasia for anyone, etc. I rather stay in the USA or live in Mexico.

You're not correct about the Quebec government banning the hijab - actually they ban all forms of religious expression in clothes worn at work by public servants - so don't criticize us unless you get the facts straight. All countries are facing public health crisis especially in the aftermath of a global pandemic, you mention how long it could take to get an MRI - weeks/months, but it's no worse than in the UK, or other western countries. I do agree with you about limited competition in banking and tech - but we're still a young and growing country, however, look at the global recession that took place in 2007 - Canada was least affected by mortgage default, the US was hit the worst and hundreds of thousands had their homes foreclosed by the Banks, yet in Canada because of our strict banking policies we were saved and the Banks worked with defaulters to try to keep their homes. Taxes, well most countries require you to file your own taxes at the end of the year - what's so strange about that? Yes sales tax is added onto the sales price depending on what province and what you are purchasing, same as US, just because it's not the same in Europe doesn't mean it's worse! Listen, when you're a newcomer to any country you need to fit in when looking for a job, put in the effort, take the time, do the work, any country is going to expect you to be able to speak the language and know the lingo, so I don't agree with your analysis that Canadians are risk adverse! You are 100% correct about the housing crisis, listen it's been going on everywhere for decades, and international investors in the past 10 years or so woke up and noticed that Canada was a great bet for investment, so the problem got really bad. The government just passed a 2 year moratorium on non Canadians buying real estate - as have many other countries, so fingers crossed no more new foreign landlords just regular Canadians buying their first homes, let's hope so!! I've lived many years in Europe - and I loved it! But the quality of life in Canada is better. If you don't live in the crowded city you can have a nice property with lots of space, good roads, not bad school system, very friendly and helpful people. Quebec has some of the best food on the North American continent, we have clean air and lots of water in Canada - I'm very happy here, so don't be so negative please!

I randomly looked at videos from downtown Manchester and Concord in New Hampshire - Philadelphia - Detroit - Chicago - New York - Baltimore - Denver - Atlanta - Nashville, and Knoxville in the United States, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, and London in the UK, Paris, Marseille, Lyon, and Toulouse in France, Frankfurt, and Hamburg in Germany, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane in Australia, Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka in Japan, Busan, Seoul, and Incheon in South Korea, Toronto - Quebec - Montreal - Winnipeg - Calgary - Vancouver - Victoria - Ottawa and Thunder Bay in Canada. we should be fair. The bitter truth must be accepted. Without any exaggeration. Completely impartial. I have to say that I didn't see a single piece of garbage in any of the other country's videos to convince myself. Without exaggeration, in all Canadian cities, you will find a piece of trash or garbage on the ground less than every hundred meters. It must have an important reason. I do not know. But this is a bitter truth. You can try. This country should be brought closer to its exaggerated claim. Certainly, some Asian countries such as Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and even Malaysia are much cleaner compared to Canada. Of course, we should not forget that Canada claims to be one of the 10 cleanest countries in the world. And cities like Vancouver and Toronto claim to be one of the 5 cleanest cities in the world. I am 50 years old and from a country in the 3rd world in the Middle East called Iran (with the most dictatorial regime in the world) and have traveled to 26 countries. Canada is far from its claims. At this time I live in Saint-Sauveur with my family. I work 5 hours a week as a volunteer person to clean the sides of roads, streets, national parks, and public places in the city. I lived in Vancouver for 4 years, this city is a disaster. when you drive or walk on East Hastings, Victoria Drive, Commercial Drive, West Georgia, Broadway, Main Street, Granville, and most places downtown, you never believe this city is in Canada. they're worst than some places in Africa or the 3rd world countries in Asia. I love this country and try my best to help. I came for peace. I thought Canada is a developed and first-world country like European countries, the US, Japan, South Korea, Australia, News Land, and Singapore with the western standard, and also I thought is one of the best. The first time 2018 I arrived in Vancouver, I was shocked. I saw a lot of homelessness, trash, crime, ugly urbanism, and rusty houses in downtown and east Vancouver. I saw, homeless people, pooping and peeing everywhere and it's so common. nobody cares. I was shocked again. I endured for 3 years but every day going worst. late in 2022I decided to move to the east coast because I thought that place has a stronger culture. I chose Montreal. I had heard it is the capital of art and civilization in Canada. it was absolutely wrong. Canada is Canada. I was shocked again, again, and again. the wave of homelessness, graffiti, vandalism, bad smell, terrible infrastructure especially roads in or out of the city, and above all, you can see trash everywhere. plastic bags, tissues, water bottles, and disposable cups. You cannot see any street or park or public place without these. This is impossible. surprisingly nobody cares. neither the people nor the government!!!!!!! please, don't be fooled by the advertisement about a good Canada. please, be careful. most of the things about a good Canada are deception.

Things to look out for. I don't think anything things that Canada is perfect. Far from it. But it is better than most. That why you and others wanted to move there in the first place. I'm Indian and I would want to move to a place that is better, not worse. Hence why I would like to have moved to Canada and not countries about as good as or worse than where I am.

The Montreal newspaper of December 2, 2022 Quebec - Canada
\n
\nInfo-Sante: Quebec calls on retired nurses to the rescue
\nNo short-term improvement in emergencies, admits Dubé
\n
\nThe Quebec Health Minister Dube on the defensive
\nThe current crisis in Quebec hospitals was at the heart of the very first parliamentary contest in the National Assembly since the elections. The Minister of Health has been the subject of crossfire from the opposition parties, which are demanding tangible results in the health plan of the CAQ.
\n“There are 30% of parents who hang up on pediatric 811 because they have no service. There are 16% of people who leave the emergency room because they have no service!”, railed Liberal MP André Fortin. According to him, these figures show that the minister has simply failed.
\nNot to mention the list of patients who have been waiting for surgery for a year and more, which has not diminished, despite Christian Dubé's promises. The latter has undertaken to reduce this threshold by the spring to the pre-pandemic level, that is to say to 2,500 operations. Currently, there are more than 21,000 patients on this list.
\n“He reduced the list of patients waiting for surgery in Quebec by exactly 0%, zero. In fact, the list, it has increased. So, until now, his target, his commitment, his promise on the surgery waiting list has been a failure,” added the elected official from Pontiac.
\nMinister Dubé claims to have recently met with medical specialists, who have undertaken to “update” the plan in the coming weeks to reduce surgeries.
\nWith the variants of COVID-19 and the many viruses in circulation, the summer period was not conducive to catching up on operations. “We have to strike a balance between the hospital beds that we use either for emergencies or for surgeries. And when we have problems like we have, at the moment, with emergencies, it is sure that the surgeons suffer from it”, he insisted.
\nSurgeries in numbers
\nTotal number of patients awaiting surgery: 160,869
\nPatients waiting for a year or more: 21,066

There's a housing crisis Everywhere for renters coming into the market and first time home buyers. They needs to be more co-ops. I know of huge amounts of seniors living alone that have no place to go and choose to stay in their big homes because there's no other option for them, and if there was they'd prob refuse to go anyway. My mother is one she's 88. We've been trying for 2+yrs. Anything that suddenly opens up she refuses. Lives in a small city in southern BC. More Co-op's are needed.

Canada is a fake first world country. The reality here is it's a race to the bottom. Unsustainable housing and rental pricing, mass immigration boom driving down employment opportunities and pay scale, devastating ER wait times at the emergency room. I've heard many stories of Indians and other minorities returning to their home countries as they found Canada unlivable.

Great video. I have been here for a year and one thing that stuck with me is the blatant discrimination towards immigrants. But when I learned that what I am experiencing is a fraction what First Nation experience
|
| 2022-12-04 | 0 |
When First Nations get free education as per the treaties then we can start worrying about others. I call bs on the working 74 years to pay ONE year of tuition. Haha these educated students pu their own education not the families wow.

I wrote the first comment before seeing the complete video\nIf you decide to live in Quebec you will have great difficulty in finding a family doctor \nIt has a system to enroll in but people have to wait several years before they are assigned to a doctor

Interestingly, all the people interviewed seemed to have had a first degree in Nigeria considering how new they are in Canada, even the interviewer, thus if Nigeria is so bad how did they blend easily with the Canadian system if they learnt/gained nothing from home? The problem with mankind is that we all forget to thank God for little mercies. We focus only on what we lack but not thankful for the little we have. That foundation in Nigeria, that good culture, in Nigeria, that Nija intelligence, that Nija confido is what makes it easy to emigrate out of Nija and do well anywhere in the world seamlessly. So we gained plenty from Nija just that we FOCUS on the things we don't have and such spirit of ingratitude may not enable us change Nija system. So ingratitude is the issue too. We need to acquire the good things out their and come back and develole Naija. That's the spirit of gratitude otherwise our cousins/brothers and sisters who may not be able to emigrate will still continue to suffer the same things we ran away from.

This is how our Embassy helps us in foreign countries. This was not the only instance. The Indian Embassy always avoids us at first whenever we approach them for any help be it Ukraine or Afghanistan. These piece of sh!ts behave like The US Embassy but don't even know how US Embassy helps Americans in foreign countries. No wonder why nobody gives a sh!t if you get harassed in a foreign country and threaten to call the Indian Embassy. Even people in small African countries know how incompetent Indian Embassy is. It's just a joke!!

@CitImmCanada -I came to Canada in 2018 , paid my Tutiom fees working day and night offf , completed my graduation in 2020.I worked as manager in gas station from 2020-2022 during pandemic putting my life on risk , you guys first messed your immigration system during pandemic, after pandemic you got this absurd system of TR2PR , messed up your own system , in which there are Still millions of files pending , then you guys stopped the immigration for 1 year, still I thought it would get better with the time. When the immigration started back in this July the scores were so high that only PHD and people outside Canada with 0 canadian skills can only get the PR. You guys then gave visas to Afghanis , Ukrainians (the fake humanitarian help your government provides )which I don’t mind but the government should have fixed the people who are and we’re here , who came as students , who has all the details of the individuals , has all the experience needed , has all the potential needed to start the career , has 0 criminal record but no you guys keeps getting new and messed up plans. like seriously this country and system is run by this type of people. I am gonna be going back to my country soon as I don’t wantt to stay now in Canada. The coming 10 years will be a disaster if your government and people won’t WAKE UP!!!!

Nope. Couldn't disagree more. As a child of immigrants I'm a first generation Canadian. My parents left everything behind in the late 60s in order to have a better life. I'm extremely proud and grateful to call myself a Canadian. I'm grateful for the freedom in this country I'm grateful for the sacrifices my parents made in order to offer us kids a better life. I've traveled to my parents home country several times\nI've traveled across the world all through my 20s and I can legit say, thank God for Canada. It's too bad you've experienced such hardship. If you find it so horrible here, brace yourself sweetheart for what's out there in the world.

Nice video and some good points made, but I notice a sense of bitterness in your tone and also in your comments. It seems some events in Australia have angered you and now the Canada option is being viewed through rose-coloured glasses. Surprised you didn't try other cities in Australia first, I really like Perth but would find it challenging to live there. Anyway, proof will be in the the pudding. I have subscribed to see how it all goes for you in Canada. Best wishes.

The human being is a delicate creature that would never satisfy till he bits the dust. You left your country for greener pasture and a country say Canada opens doors for you. \nWhatever the circumstance, the first thing is to adapts to the country's culture and be greatful and everything will just falls through. As the adage goes, no place like home but If you find a better opportunity in a particular country, be greatful ✨️. \nDo a comparison were you were and were you are, weigh the pros and cons. If the Former outweighs the latter be greatful. \n\nThere are issues everywhere but it's take contentment to be happy.

In Australia everything is electronic, no visa stamps at all. The first Australian document you get is an Australian passport after becoming a citizen. There are no permanent resident cards etc. Every entry/exit is automatically logged on the government system, and you can even download an app which tells you your visa status, conditions and whether you're onshore or offshore (so no need for passport stamps).

Nab these RECRUITERS in India first. There is a huge network behind this. Indo-Canada joint operation alone can clear this out. Of course, it must be a concerted effort over a long period of time to nib this. But India must press Canada to work on this together.
|
| 2022-11-06 | 0 |
Oh well, Indian ApplyBoard recruiters are scamming their own indian people. please students from other countries. What is new? Indians scam and steal from each other in india. Watching this video made at first think that Canada is doing something bad but the THE TRUTH is that it is INDIANS IN CANADA AND AROUND THE WORLD ARE SCAMMING INDIANS IN INDIA. Canada has nothing to do with this.
|
| 2022-11-06 | 1 |
This increase in immigration thresholds is not necessarily good news, one of Justin Trudeau's unavowed goals of which is to drown the country's Francophones, Canada's first founding people. In this post-national multicultural Canada, where will the cohesion be between these peoples who will carry with them their values and resentments incompatible with North American values and habits and customs? The Trudeau government is thus opening Pandora's box...
|
| 2022-11-02 | 0 |
So, that's the price Trudeau has to pay to Jagmeet Singh for his support? Small India in Canada because the majority of this new immigration comes from India. And they are of course left leaning liberals in their political views. How great, 500,000 new voters a year to support the red prince. Taking under consideration the growing problem of homelessness and healthcare crisis, it's a great move to even further destroying Canada. Canadians will move to Hastings Street like in Vancouver to give more room to newcomers. It's not a joke. This huge number of immigrants have to live somewhere, while we have difficulties finding an apartment. How much he has to hate his own country and culture. First he destroyed our economy giving away money during pandemic and implementing Draconian measures and now “saving” the country by replacing its population.
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
What a backwards policy. We have enough struggling Canadians as is. We need to care for own first before inviting that over.
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
Let’s pay a bunch of foreigners to stay here, who won’t work, usually have 10+ kids per family, 95% of the time won’t contribute to society, who force their way into society instead of adapting to us, and will help drive the demand of things up the wall, all meanwhile actual Canadians who were here first are struggling, starving, going homeless/are already homeless. And no one’s helping them.
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
First nations peoples migrated to this land too, they came from east Asiatic countries via the Bering strait.
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
Why don’t we help our fellow Canadians first. Many are struggling right now how would this help?
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
How about we deal with our housing crisis first and and inflation then bring in more immigrants
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
Before you start anything this important you have to do the research. Check for homelessness, inflation, affordable housing availability, also what kind of education and skills will these 500.000 immigrants have and will they speak English?? Even in a remote part of Canada rent is very high, Canadians are paying 1200.00 per month for a 1 bed 1 bath apartment and don’t forget utilities on top of that. Please help the Canadians already here first. Trudeau has to go and 500.000 extra votes will NOT HELP HIM
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
Unbelievable. Never worry about our own first
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
If you don't come to Canada with a lot of money, you will never experience first world anyway. Making 100K CAD a year is still poor. So there is little chance you ever will have a great life. 100K salary cannot afford housing. Welcome to the 2nd world country that used to be 1st.
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
How can they even say this, how about helping us Canadians first, the homeless, won't help with housing...They are bringing immigrants here to not work but to live free from our taxes....Really really stupid idea....Where are their priorities
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
Take care of your own people first!!!!
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
Get the healthcare system working first!!!!
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
How do you justify bringing more people into this country when you have a housing crisis? Where are they going to live? Where are the people who were born in Canada going to live when they can’t find available affordable housing? Like let’s get our priorities straight here and fix the problems we have first.
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
25% Immigrants in Canada is more than enough. In fact, it's already too much when to take into consideration all the Illegals that are comming from Roxham Road.\n\nEdit: As someone said in the Comments: We need to make more Babies and be able to support them first, Then import them!
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
there are nt enough apartments for that much people...\nI hope you have empty rooms in your house.\nthey will probably die the first winter they ll be here.\nsuch good planning you have....\nand hospitals? don t get me started....\nanyways, as things are going, they ll probably end up as soldiers I guess.
|
| 2022-11-01 | 0 |
Probably for votes. Many Canadians are delusional and dissatisfied with the current Trudeau government, that many Canadians, especially those born and long termed non Canadian born Canadian citizens would most likely vote other party, especially Conservative party, who put Canadians first.

As someone who was an international student in Canada, failed and came back, I’m surprised to see this. What were these people expecting? If you can’t afford to send your child to an international college, don’t do it. If you have to take a loan and put everything you have at risk. If your kids are supposed to work to cover their expenses. How tf is a teenager supposed to work AND study at the same time, living in a foreign country alone, having no one close. It’s the families responsibility to do their research, what does the country has to do with poor financial decisions of a certain group of people? I watched the first 9 minutes only, though.
