I have mixed feelings about this. I feel like a total first letter of the alphabet-hole for not thinking of helping right away. When I lived in San Diego, it was a palpable daily reminder. Lots of people have cross-border lives. Family, work, home is on either side of the border. Now living up in Washington State, it's different. Here the border with Canada is all about preventing Canadians from stealing technology from us while allowing them to work for us. Some partners who come visit us often times get searched for technology. Like pen drives, samples, etc. It's a totally different story. Canada probably has less homeless than all of south America. It's an easy claim because literally, if you can't insulate your self in winter you go visit the great gardener Jesus and his weirdo multipersonality disorder. In south America, you just need to eat and not get eaten by things. So the result is that people survive way below the poverty line. Then, the big lie tells them that the US is better so they come over to eventually learn how the others found the three headed gardener the hard way. I feel like maybe if they got a tour of the country and learned how shitty it is to live here too, they might think twice about coming over. There are periods and ways when the US opens it's borders but it's looking like a real shit show right now. We don't have enough jobs and not enough houses to house everyone. At least in south America you can live in the family house and no one bats an eye. People help each other in poverty.

People in the comments who are claiming they came a long time ago and feel so good about Canada are the reason the costs of living is continually raising. They didn't understand Canadians were already making them pay more but to them it was normal now, even themselves they raise the rents of the real estate they had time to buy for low prices and feel they accomplished the dream but at the detriments of the new immigrants.

That is still better than living in india. Quality of life in india is horrible. A single room apartment in india can easily cost between 25000-35000 in cities like pune , Bangalore, hyderabad and Mumbai. Mumbai is the most expensive. Salaries is so bad that an average person simply cannot have any dreams. Also many apartment in india which are rented don't even have gas so cooking food at home is not an option. Quality of food outside is horrible and also expensive. Water is of bad quality as well. So many things in india are actually more expensive than canada for example- phones , laptops, cars , fuel , protein supplements, real estate. My parents don't have enough money to send me to canada. So many times Living in india actually makes me wish I was never born. It's been years since I have stopped celebrating my birthday. Just existing and continuing to live because if I end my life who will take care of my mom and dad.

I wish I had watched this video before moving here. Everything you mentioned is true. We pay an insanely amount of taxes so homeless and drug addicts can have drugs and live in beautiful new buildings only to die from an overdose. I agree, I was born and raised here, unless you speak the language, have a good education, its puts you behind the 8 ball if you want to stay here. Why? Because the cost of living is too high, Why? Because our gov. let foreign powers come into out country and flip our real estate to make fast profits and that drives up the rents and costs of housing to the point that you cannot afford to live here, period. The only way that you can do it is to team up with other families and all live in the same place and slowly build up your education, job skills and income to a point where you can afford to live and get a place of your own, thats the way they did it in my parents time and it seemed to work, but when you have a gov. that all they can think about is their climate control BS and to raise the carbon taxes, interest rates causing inflation, causing prices to go up on everything it becomes a losing battle. So unless you are prepared to work two or three jobs, don't even think about it, because now its next to impossible to do unless you have someone supporting you on your climb to the top. In Canada we need health care workers and that could be nurses, doctors, health care aids, psw's, dsw's and physiotherapists, in some provinces they give free courses to get these jobs and you end up getting good wages like min. 25.00 per hour to start and all the hours you can handle, that means if you work 60 hours a week, you make 1500 a week, now that you can survive on, I know this for a fact because a friend of mine just went through the course and now she is set for life, that was a PSW course, its all up to you, if you want it bad enough, you can have it all. Welcome to Canada.

Eh when you say you don't have to know the real spots that goes hand in hand with sprawl. Sprawl makes owning a restaurant difficult. You have to be off major freeways and exits and afford a place on a sign so cars will pull of the road. The little neighborhood spots exist, but are fewer when you get out of major cities because they honestly can't survive because of freeway driven sprawl that favors restaurants that you are going to see off the freeway which are chains.

I think most ppl have to remember it’s a British Colony we still pay the Queen(kinda embarrassing) Usa had seen this problem for more than 200 years ago. Bruh that tap water thing is real. My fiancé is from Montreal and I live in the US (we decided that we should stick it out and stay with our parents so we can both save for a house). When I visit I always tell him that his tap water is so good. I’m from Rhode Island and our tap water is boo-boo.

Cost of living is cheap in Montreal but not in Vancouver or Toronto. Groceries way more expensive in Canada too. I remember going to Hawaii (which is an island in the middle of no where) and all the Americans were complaining about the cost of groceries there - yet the Hawaiian prices are probably cheaper then Toronto groceries. And yes, LA and NY are expensive, probably Miami and some other trendy cities too - but generally real estate prices are cheaper in the US and mortgages are tax deductible - I assume in most places rent is cheaper in the US.

I've lived In the US all my life. I was fortunate to come across my amazing wife who lives In Vancouver, BC. I was able to travel to Vancouver a lot since 2007 and I love the city. It's very beautiful, the people are decent, the houses are nice (yet expensive) and overall I like it up there. And you can't beat the free healthcare up there. I'm going to be moving from Chicago to Vancouver, BC in about a year cause my wife has had some medical issues and coming to the states won't work financially since she has medical issues already. I'm nervous yet excited. It's not that diverse when It comes to black people but I can get along with anybody. There, Canada is compared to different, cherry-picked countries, without any understanding of “WHY those differences exists”.\n\nCouple examples: \n- internet is more expensive(than in some countries) because of low density of population and enormous areas to cover.\n- “waiting lists” for medical procedures are to balance healthcare spendings(from taxes) with the real need in those: if your condition is urgent, you’ll get everything you need instantly.\n- tax system is, in fact, one of the best in the world: it pushes awareness and responsibility to Canadians, while in the same time keeping most of it on businesses(employers) and allowing great flexibility in tax deduction/returns.\n\nAnd so on and so forth…
