Yeah Canada has free health care. But when you reach 25+ you have to pay your own.. unless you have insurance. Also in the province where I live tax percentage here is DANG 13%. It's DANG expensive because Canadian dollar is not as strong as the big 4 (USD/UK Pounds/Europe Euros/Japan Yen). The only province that pays little-to-none taxes is the province of Alberta Canada.\n\nAll-in-all I advise migrants that live in US: DO NOT live in Canada because Canada is a sh*t country. And you'll be screwed by both the Trudeau and Doug Ford Government.

I've lived in both. Canada is a better place to raise your family for sure, and as a society I think it's a better place to live. It's cleaner, safer, and more diverse (and I'm talking real diversity like Aba mentioned, not segregation). There's some cool stuff about the States, don't get me wrong, but my girlfriend (who is American and has visited Canada with me) and I are strongly contemplating moving to Canada. The US has a better night life culture generally speaking and like Aba said there's more to do, but generally speaking I just want a peaceful and simple life.

We as humans have enough technology and resources to ensure everyone gets decent housing and food around the world yet here we are living in inequality. We produce enough food every year to feed the world 7 times over yet so much of it goes to waste and so many empty stomachs. Btw countries like US and Canada waste more food and resources than any other country in the world.

As a current US citizen, my husband and I need assylum in Canada... to get away from the violence toward black men, guns, etc... this country is a nightmare!

So let me understand this. People overseas from countries like Nigeria fly directly to the US then they travel straight to the US/Canada border and WALLAH they enter Canada without any background check, and WALLAH again they get Canadian citizenship? There is supposedly an agreement between Canada and the US called the Safe Third Country Agreement which means illegal immigrants are supposed to apply for asylum in the first country they come to. Unfortunately, because of Trump, the Canadian government doesn't trust any US government to give these asylum seekers a fair hearing. Second, this agreement only applies to official border crossings, not unofficial ones like Roxham Road. Trudeau is absolutely right in wanting to renegotiate the Safe Third Country Agreement.

Why would they want to try and live in Canada when they can do the same illegal immigration into US?

As legal emigrant in USA, if the border being open for 2-3 more years, you going to see the results, im not talking only us Canada border, for Europe too. Of course not, why you don't talk about shitty weather, job market, salaries, annual GDP and companies that are in those countries. And about health care system, do you know how long should you wait for an appointment? And the US is a capitalist country, which is a big advantage for people who want to bring home the bacon. After pandemic specially I don't see Canada even comparable to the US. Anyway, for people who don't want to risk for a better life, Canada is a better country!

Why doesn't the US turn them back before they even get to Canada.

America, has had the largest influx of illegal's flooding our borders. Canada, needs to help us out. We can't handle all these people... it's not financially feasible, to sustain our country for any length of time.

If Canada or the US were to charge a fee for permission to remain the revenue would be astounding! I can't think of one immigrant that would refuse to pay a $500 monthly fee to remain and work freely in either country. It has been suggested many, many times. The amount of revenue generated would exceed that of the tax revenue we currently have in place for common Americans by 2030. Why Republicans don't allow this? Because the conditions and rules that most be followed like, no felonies would optimally change the face of who they portrayed them to be.

Why are the Mexicans leaving Canada for the US, when everyone else it seems is going the other way?
