Trump is such a dumbass. He thinks the tariffs will be paid by exporting countries like Mexico, China, and Canada. The Trump tariffs will be paid by American manufacturers and American consumers. Everything is about to become a lot more expensive in the US, especially with a 25% tariff on the 4.5 million barrels of oil Canada ships to the US every day. Besides the problems at the border President Trump also wants to get a better trade deal that is why he is using the 25 % tariff to negotiate better security and trade deal. Also under President Trump and fuel prices will come down quite a bit so transportation costs will be cheaper so even if he adds a 25 % tariff it will not be as bad as you think it will be

The question is why did Canada have to wait for Trump's tariff threat to take on the border issue seriously? Does it mean had Kamala had won then the Canada's border and immigration law or enforcement would had remained relatively lax for many years to come?

Are you kidding me. Are you not in Canada right now. Canada is now the most poor country in the World. Immigration has gone to the roof. No housing. Rents and forget about buying a house in BC, AB, Quebec, Ontario. High unemployment, Inflation is high and going up more. We also do not have a military defense system and the U.S. is tired of Canada not spending money to meet their responsibility as a Nato country. Many Canadians are leaving the country permanent.
