I am transgender and out, basically broke the relationship with my family. I’m living alone in the US as an international student (CN citizen) and suffering from the living cost and tuition even though I have a part-time job, and I’m gonna lose it soon because I have to change my visa to a student visa that does not allow me to work outside of campus. I am thinking about transferring to a Canadian university because I’m poor and lonely without family anyway (lol), and I just can’t resist the temptation of starting my life again in a different place while healing my trauma. Moreover, it’s more immigrant-friendly (note I am still going through a visa change in the US), maybe I will not be in the daily fear of having to go back to China, where is definitely not trans-friendly. But I’m so anxious on the other hand. What if I end up unemployed; what if I run out of money…I’m simply uncertain about how to find somewhere queer-friendly to survive with a secured shelter and money enough for food. I’m sorting everything out…please let me know if you have any similar experiences in Canada. Anything can be very helpful.

I can definitely relate to all of these living in Canada my whole life and working.\n\nCar accident - was recommend by the insurance to visit the emergency room. waited for over 5 hours, 1:30 in the morning I just walked out I had to work the next day.\nWork - construction designer, basically working regularly 6 to 7 days a week about 10 hours a day behind the a computer. Doing my own work & managing our other designers, and it's not slowing down.\nPay - only making like 25 dollars an hour. and I don't just design, I also help manage the construction, list the projects (welding fabrication), order the materials, as wells as doing a lot of paper work. \nBills - I'm living in the cheapest place in the entire city with my fian and sharing a car at the moment, so not to bad. But obviously if we want to buy a house or a condo I'd be looking at well over 2000 dollars a month split between our two incomes.\nGas - prices are high, carbon taxing.\nHomeless people everywhere you look, can't really blame them TBH.\nShootings and police raids right out side my apartment, literally drove through a crime scene one morning. Really? I just read an article recently that Canada's population growth rate is the highest in more than 30 years. There are also several published articles which showed that across various metrics for healthcare, the U.S. was the most expensive, but ranked the worst in terms of outcomes when compared with other industrialized countries with universal healthcare (including Canada). I live in the U.S., and I can tell you delays (and we're talking months) in being able to see specialists or your primary care physician is very common. Google the name Wendell Potter, and see what you find.

one thing you don't understand. Canada was a great country before the massive amounts of immigrants came. In Africa there is not just one passport for the entire African countries. Many Africans are fleeing their home countries, making a voyage the Darian gap (search YouTube). When they flee via boat, they are trapped into the sex trade. Ladies your viewpoint is not realistic; one must be smart on how you spend your money. Compared to most countries, Canada offers a better healthcare system. Housing is an issue. High cost of living is in a lot of the G20 countries.

A lot of people from Eastern Europe countries like Poland are selling they houses and moving back. \nIn my opinion if you don’t have a high earning job (150k after taxes and up) it is impossible to live a good life in Canada.

You guys were spot on with this video. I am Canadian born from Caribbean immigrants and all we've done from jump is work multiple jobs. If you live in Toronto you can't just have one job; even lawyers and engineers have side hustles. My uber drivers are usually tech engineers! Most people usually immigrate to the US after getting their visa because the pay is so much more and the cost of living is lower. An example some jobs I'm looking at in Canada pay $50-$60k base demanding 5 yrs experience with 2-3 wks vacation. In the US the same job pays $75-100k base, unlimited vacation, work from home 2-3 yrs experience! I now live here part time and most of my wealthy friends have moved to the US, Costa Rica or Mexico because the cost of living is too high and it's no longer worth it. No life balance, even working remote you're a slave, the cost of living is outrageous

That's exactly what makes Canada so speacial! There's no such inequality that creates such violence, proverty we see around the world. When the taxes are used in the benefits of the entire society, this is a good thing!

Immigration to a new country is hard. It sounds like it has failed for you so you are right to try somewhere else. My parents put in the hard work and effort to have our family succeed in Canada for their children's sake. I do not remember boredom being a problem for us kids but then we loved the freedom of the outdoors even in winter. We did not rely on other people to entertain us. MY parents had to be very flexible and give up a lot of their old country ways. They did that work and we have all prospered.

In 98 to o4 I lived in Vancouver it was a dream for me the west coast was amazing but I was very poor whilst living there. I left back to the U.K. and missed it a lot the west coast. I think you nailed the reason why it’s so difficult to live in Canada. - lots of immigrants, flowing money out of the economy, while the citizens pay higher taxes to receive/supply for an inclusive, low-quality, infrastructure that supports people that want to leave. Realistically, you can’t be entitled and not commitment at the same time. It’s like someone coming to your house to complain about the meal the host bought, and cooked, for you and not even saying thank you . Instead you decide to leave the host with a big turd in their toilet, and ask them when they’ll have you and your family back for more free stuff.
