If I had to choose between the US and Canada, I would choose Canada. Canada I think is generally viewed positively in European countries, but the US is often seen as a basket case.

The CBC is a huge issue in Canada. It’s funded ENTIRELY with tax dollars therefore the government decides what we watch, even if no one wants to watch it at all, and the CBC is 100% in love with the Liberal government and all of their news is blatant propaganda. Why not? The Liberals increased the CBC budget to 1.6 Billion a year of course they want to spin the news to help them especially when you consider the fact that many Conservatives want it defunded completely because they are tired of the spin. \nAnother issue is that some areas of Canada make the decisions for the rest of the country. Ontario and Quebec have large populations therefore when it comes to federal elections they basically always get their way even if everyone in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba disagrees. \nAlso, Quebec gets treated completely differently than the rest of the country. They have special deals when it comes to university tuition and child care, they have their own political party that no one else can vote for, and they force the rest of the country to have French all over the place and on everything which is mostly pointless and very few people in Canada can only speak French and can’t understand the English. The amount of crappy, unwatchable French TV/radio shows we outside Quebec have to pay for with tax dollars is beyond ridiculous.\nI know this comment will get hate especially since I mentioned Quebec which is a touchy subject.

I remember when I had the idea of going to canada to study and live... I saw the price and NO I chose france instead at a real top university and without debts, only with my savings for working!! My question is my father as principal applicant received UCI number and biometric invitation as well but for my mother no UCI is assigned and no biometric invitation. I came to Canada in1998. It took almost a year to get my papers approved. It cost me $2'500.00 to get all the papers reviewed and my wife had to sign a paper where she will be responsible for me for the next 10 years. Are all these newcomers going to same process? The answer is no. So there is a big problem with the system. And I can almost feel that is more about votes for the Liberal Party than a big heart. Nothing against immigrants. But these country is collapsing and when it happens you will blame it on someone else.

If you want to be an entrepreneur and make things that change the world. then USA is better like for Engineers and Entrepreneur etc. In Canada is more for peoples who want take the benefits and get out of there after they have the Canada passport, bachelor degree and educate there childrens. Somebody with a brain will not continue to pay so much tax and huge cost of living and end up no saving and broke like in Africa. Also extreme weather, not enough sun etc. and no social skills.

Being a 60 year old Michigan neighbor and frequent visitor to Canada for job duties, I can totally agree that Canada has not gotten better. They were always racist. I’m surprised Trudeau actually mentioned the Native American children Canada massacred in the name of god to assimilate. They don’t want them there period. They want to erase them. I think it's the same when you move to any country. I have no end of work here, without university education, but it would translate to a very low paying job in another country. I have lived all my life in the best climate in Canada, but it's also one of the fastest growing areas and the traffic and endless high rise buildings have just become too much for me.\nIt seems so silly that the places I am considering moving to are the same ones that my co-workers have come from. I guess it's all about perspective.

It's easy to be in the lower middle class in Canada. This is what attracts some immigrants who otherwise would be poor in their home country. But for people who can be middle class in their home country, Canada (and all of western countries) is not a good choice for them

I disagree with both of you. You care complaining about Canada, yet you come here from another country where you don't have opportunities. I'm guessing you live in Toronto and yes it is expensive, and you haven't experienced other provinces. Toronto has a big city attitude. You are really only speaking about one city. As far as the cold weather? Don't complain about it when you're here. You should've done your research and consider how climate change is changing weather all over the world. Note that in Canada the population is also concentrated along the edges in this case, along the US border. I think that something like 90% of Canadians live within 50 miles of the US border. Beyond that, it's not the Outback, it's more likethe tundra. Also, Canada has a lot of beautif spots, but the are far away from each other snd sometimes from the big cities. So you will have some long trips ahead of you.

I lived in Ontario for more than half my life, and making fun of Quebec was a cornerstone of life. If you take away montreal which is a huge outlier from the rest of the province you end up with mostly xenophobic hillbillies, lower wages, dilapidated infrastructure that becomes immediately apparent the second you cross the border, highest income tax in the country offsetting their modest property taxes, and some of the most ridiculous provincial laws ever written to preserve their French culture. My previous employer literally could not sell their medical service software in Quebec because it was not practical for them to comply with localization laws even though French language was fully supported. I personally rank rural Quebec as the worst place to live in Canada because it's one of the only places in the world that prevents businesses from operating there over bullshit like font sizes on packaging or other graphics.

Things to look out for. I don't think anything things that Canada is perfect. Far from it. But it is better than most. That why you and others wanted to move there in the first place. I'm Indian and I would want to move to a place that is better, not worse. Hence why I would like to have moved to Canada and not countries about as good as or worse than where I am.
