I love Quebec also but like any province it has its flaws, we are governed by 2 gouvernements who hate each other so both fight about everything,we pay taxes to both these governments, the only way you can attend or send your children to English school is if you were born here(canada) and someone in your family went to english school, so if you are french or an immigrant you have no choice in the matter you are going to french school, we were voted the most corrupt province a few years back, you can do anything you want though….as long as you paid for your permit to do it, wanna ride the trails on your atv 300$, wanna ride a motorcycle anywhere between 600$(for a cruiser) to 1700$(sportbike), growing cannabis is illegal unless you buy a 600$ permit then its ok. But even with all its flaws its still an amazing place AND we have maple syrup ? oh but if you make some don’t forget permission from the Federation to sell it cause they can impose massive fines all the way up to seizing you farm. But really its not all that bad…. Crap gotta go it’s curfew time don’t wanna get a 1600$ fine for being out past 8. \n\np.s our Poutine isn’t the one starting a war

Why are you telling people misinformation? You can challenge pretty much anything here in Canada, including med and lawyer tests! These msinformed Frenchies, don't know what they are talking about! The problem with Canada is that it is a giant, socialized mafia-ran ponzi scheme. There is so much red tape around EVERYTHING, all by design in order to expand bureaucracy. The immigrants that are allowed here are just tax slaves harvested as Canada has some of the highest taxes in the world. Want to get a job? 3 references, so much years experience blah blah. Want to become a trades person? 5 years with poor pay and schooling. Want to build a house? Good luck. 10 years for zoning. The list goes on and on. Born and raised here, and someone said it the best in the comments that Canada is basically a tax haven for real estate. It's a money laundering paradise. Stay as far away as you can from this country, it is a welfare deathtrap.

I've lived 2 years in Toronto. Plusses, it's all there, sports, theatre, music, amazing restaurants. Negatives I found the people difficult to get to know, I usually felt I wasn't breathing fast enough, and no mountains. I've lived 10 years in Calgary. Plusses, people are incredibly open and friendly, mountains, energetic without being frenetic, affordable. Minuses, very cyclic economy, everything always under construction with little sense of history or culture. I was born and raised in Victoria and returned here 34 years ago. Plusses, ocean and mountains, sense of history, laid back and friendly, amazing climate. Minuses, completely unaffordable (if I hadn't bought my house over 30 years ago I couldn't afford it today). Enjoyed them all but wouldn't voluntarily leave Victoria.

Anyone have an idea of where a Canadian born and raised would be welcome to live? I want out of this dark, cold, impossible to get ahead place! lol I'm full of piss and vinegar and want room to explore and expand but I can't do that if I'm slaving from pay cheque to pay cheque! :(

I just went thru an episode trying to get answers/help from government services and officials. Zero accountability from anyone. I am born and raised here. I have no where else to go. I have no hope left…it’s very sad.

Let me tell you something from my own experience, and at 82 y.o. a have plenty of it. If someone chooses a country into which to emigrate, he or she makes a choice to accept the conditions and adjusts to them. Canada is not a place to baby disgruntled outsiders, but gives them a chance to become Canadian. If you expect anything different, you don't deserve that chance. \nI was born in Vienna, Austria, emigrated with my girl friend to New Zealand, got married there and created two new little Kiwis, and after 5 years we packed up our family and relocated to California, where we brought up our son and daughter as Americans. We'll never forget our Austrian heritage, and are forever thankful to the friendly Kiwis for the start in life they gave us. But, once we decided to move to the US, we accepted the life style of our new neighbors and tried to fit into their society as well as we could. When we reached retirement age, we bought a modest home in Oregon, where we still live now and proudly fly the US flag on appropriate occasions. For the privilege of choosing your country, you better show your gratitude and your worth.

you two have described Canada to a tee, good job. I am a born citizen of this country, but after receiving a degree, my interest was social work, I was totally burnt out, and furthermore, I did not qualify to work for the government due to the fact I spoke only one language, English. I am close to retirement now, had no real advances, and settled for a low paying job that provides me with the basics. I have met several angry immigrants throughout my life, I know what they are going through, Canada is a lie. It may be a safe country to live in, but a tough country to live in.

Thanks guys for making this video. Born and raised Canadian and I totally agree. I have felt an improved quality of life living in other countries. I love the diversity of Canada, the weather is not great. It can be very boring but a safe place. You just have to know what its really like here and make it work for you. If you are a refugee its a great place. If not, you do have to work hard, pay alot of tax, so its not all that easy living here. To each his own. Do what is best for you.

BC boy here. Born in Alberta but was raised on the coast!

As a Canadian- born senior I am disappointed to hear these negative perspectives. I have seen many positive changes in the landscape from the time when diversity did not exist. In Toronto the social landscape is very much enriched by the immigrants who have come in waves over the last 70 years. I recognize the hardship of re-qualifying for professions but this must have been taken into account when considering moving to Canada. Interesting subject to reflect upon.

My wife moved here 25 years ago luckily she is a European trained musician, all her credentials were recognized and she is still teaching music here in Alberta. \nAt first she was very homesick understandably but.luckily we were able to move her aging parents here 16 years ago. They got treated like royalty by the Canadian Government compared to my Canadian born parents showered with benefits even though they never worked in Canada one day. I know this is no.longer the case for new.immigrants but on the whole Canada has one of the most generous immigration policies on the planet.\nI feel for new.immigrants it's a very rough transition to make but after 200 plus years in Canada I thank my ancestors for taking a huge risk in coming here every day.

Canada is a land with great resources, great opportunity and potential, but for a place with so much supposedly smart people they do alot of dumb things. Been here 7 years now and I have seen so many issues that have obvious solutions but because of some weird culture or heritage or whatever they just keep doing the same thing until it hurts them. The real estate market is an absolute MESS and everybody knows. Money laundering, realtors colluding to set prices, blind auctions etc you name it. But they are just gonna keep doing the same thing until the country is in a major recession. Then everybody is going to be crying for bailouts. The health system is a MESS. Trying to find a doctor is like finding a needle in a haystack. They have them driving taxis instead, claiming that their qualifications arent as good. Yet they dont have enough doctors or nurses to support anything. Coworkers whose spouses work in those industries let me know they have to be working ridiculous shifts because there are not enough people. The taxes are ridiculous. I work in I.T. and taxes are like roughly half my salary. Many coworkers have told me all the illegal stuff they do to get around the taxes. Which I don't do because I wasn't raised like that. But people get taxed so much everyone is doing some thing to try to bypass it. And if you dont know the tricks or dont want to do them, you just get screwed. People don't talk about real issues here. There is alot of fake positivity and optimism because they dont want people to get sad and suicidal from the really long and harsh winter. I used to wonder why there were so many train delays until some one explained to me that many people commit suicides in winter by stepping in front of the trains. The only thing propping up this country is the constant influx of immigrant slave labour through the college system, (Like a ponzi scheme). But the immigrants are going to stop coming here if they cant even afford to live at all. Even the regular citizens cant afford it. So what will the country do after that, since there is an elderly population and not enough people to support the industries? Right now most of the immigrants come here and save up there money to go somewhere else or back home after they realize what a shitshow it is. I even have coworkers born and raised in Canada who are telling me they want to leave. Canada needs to stop patting itself on the back for doing stupid apologies and stuff like that, and actually do economically sound things to stop digging themselves into this hole. Great potential for this country but I don't know if it will ever be realized.

Take it from an American don’t come to America there more opportunities than Canada , but it sucks healthcare is not free and so many American are stupid . I hate my country . The biggest issue is most immigration in Canada are highly skilled people the Canadian government are looking to exploit via taxes. Canada is only a good Country if you want to sit on your ass and do nothing. The more you make the more they take to pay for everyone else. I have no choice but to stay in this Country (born and raised), but I have travelled a bit with the Canadian Military and if my life was different I would probably try and find another Country to try.

This is all bullshit, which these two nice ladies are saying. The core of the matter is - Canada wants taxpayers. Government and society do not give a damn about your background. Of course they accept people with higher education - these people provide way less trouble, as opposed to importing warring Afgan highlanders, who are barely literate but will not hesitate to pull a dagger. An engineer will not do that. But our qualifications, education, experience means nothing - they have enough of their own. All they need is extra human material to be occupied in all kinds of disgusting jobs, which born citizens will not take. On top of that - job is not easy to find, wages are low, taxes are high. Cost of real estate is unapproachable, unless you have stolen a million back at home. Car insurance ridiculously high. The only thing we are not paying for in Canada is fresh air. Yet...

Don't bother as there are several unemployed that were born here .Why take a job away from jee I would Love more than anything to move to the USA but I ma taking a job away from and American .Please stay home .It is expensive and more immigrates make it that way with higher inflation .

I find its a real hit or miss. The reasons you've laid out are legit points, IF you naturalize through the proper process. Unfortunately I see a ton of immigrants who make a great living here using loopholes. I was born and raised in Toronto, I still live here. My wife on the other hand is one such person who struggles to adapt, she looks for and stays only within her cultural circle who make a better living then me because of these loopholes. One such family's husband found work that on paper, pays very little but 80% of his income comes in the form of cash. So come tax season, he claims very little and gets back a nice chunk, and is able to claim more on child tax benefits vs me. I find there are a ton of immigrants that work this way, some are even able to claim welfare while I'm struggling to get by on 3 jobs.

Hmmm not sure I agree with this vid. My friends and I do pretty well here financially. We are all millenials. Even though most of us are Canadian born, we all experience the immigrant life through our parents. We remember what it was like to be poor immigrants. But in the end all of us got the right education (i.e. not a fine arts degree...lol) and have good paying jobs as accountants, software engineers, doctors, lawyers etc... We didnt have any advantages either. We all took out student loans to pay our tuition with no help from our parents. Yet we paid it off, we own our homes, all without being house poor. It can't be that hard. Just go to a legit school, not some third world university.,.. and do do a proper degree. Nobodys gonna hire a aet history major anywhere in the world. Oh and get out of your fucking ethnic bubbles. I have friends who are White, Black, Indian, Chinese, Italian and Portuguese and we all built a decent life for ourselves. Our parents worked hard as immigrants, and this is how we were rewarded.

I am Canadian, having grown up in Canada. I left for the States in 1998, after securing a green card and have no desire to return. Canada offered me nothing except unemployment, debt, and cold weather. Good riddance. It is very difficult to find work and housing in Canada. Education is a joke, because your degree does not guarantee you a career or the job you desire. The Canadian government has a historical record of offering citizenship to immigrants with false promises. Shame on this corrupt, self-serving, money-hungry Government. When I was growing up, one in 1000 people were non-white. Then the floodgates opened to nontraditional countries and multiculturalism was born. The Canadian culture I knew and grew up with was gone. Everyone is suddenly from somewhere else. Canada really has no culture. I don't even visit my family. They come to me! Good riddance Canada. Immigrants beware! Canadian born and raised I found this video very interesting as a lot of Canadians blame the immigration for lack of jobs and feel they get more help from Government then local Canadians do.The anger towards them is a problem people don’t seem to want to talk about and would rather pretend it doesn’t exist but I hear it all the time and see it at work.I think this information should be more widely spread so people have a clear picture of both sides and hopefully the resentment will stop because all I’ve seen is anger resentment and a scary growing hatered

Quebec is #1 because of all the handouts from the rest of the country. Alberta has paid for Quebec as long as I can remember and all they do is shit on the west. Dude your drunk!!! I've lived in 4 provinces ab, bc, ns and nb. Ns and nb are by far the best to live. Quality of life, jobs, scenery! Ab is by far the worst and it is one I know something about being born there.

Getting immediate quick help in life-threatening situations isn't always the case either. And the attention in hospitals in Canada aren't always that great. My daughter is born in Bolivia where me and my wife are born and grown up . Later we had a son born in Canada, I was really really disappointed we got no better care as we did in the hospital. And comparing our daughter born in Bolivia was premature by C-section and costed beauty over 2000 USD , our son was C-section in Canada costing 18000 CA$ . Based on the attention gotten in both places I had no doubt left of where I'd choose to have the next child .

A lot of these reasons apply to Canadian born people as well. Outside of doctors, basically every top Canadian born student I know has moved to the USA for jobs - myself included. There are large economic issues here and you can imagine if it is that bad for Canadian born people, it is going to be even harder for immigrants. \n\nIt's unfortunate and I wish the system would improve. But also nobody is forced to immigrate to Canada. Constructive discussions is great but some people just want to spit on the way for the sake of spitting
