As a Canadian living in Canada for 20 years. This is 100% truth when it comes to Canada's medical care system. Furthermore, the issues with drugs and housing shortage to 100% true. One thing that Canada has for itself is the clean air and nature in national parks ( to get there you will need a car and DL). The other issue that would have mentioned is the house buglery, auto thefts, and gun shoots in schools, that the police in Canada no longer are willing to address. Lastly, it's critical for everyone to comprehend that the government itself knows that it's bad so they started a government sponsored suicide program for being able to get timely medical care. For example after waiting for 3 years for a knee replacement surgery, the doctor left the province and my mom was told that she can opt for medically assisted suicide if the pain was unbearable.

I think every day I say to myself. What has happened to the Canada that I loved? I used to be proud but now I feel like I'm in India. Maybe India is cheaper.

As a Canadian I agree that Canada is no longer a great place to immigrate to. I disagree that it is due to racism (my parents were immigrants) but now the cost of living is too high due to shortage of housing supply and inflation. Salaries have not kept up. Immigrants do have a much harder time gaining employment in high skilled jobs especially if their English is not PERFECT. And local governments have not prepared the infrastructure to handle the massive amount of immigration that the government has accepted over the years. Our schools and health care systems are overwhelmed and stressed to the point where 1/4 of people don’t have a family doctor and getting into even a public school has become competitive. \n\nThis is not the Canada I grew up in or thought my kids would grow up in. It’s hard even for Canadians to survive and immigrants coming here without a 6-figure salary job will struggle to survive.

Although my parents were both immigrants in the early 60s, they both came here w 14 and 12 years of University and spoke 4 languages including French and English fluently. \nWe all assimilated very well w cultural norms and practices and adopted to Canada as opposed to Canada accepting our traditions. \nThat seems to be the major difference now, I don’t even recognize the Canada I was raised in. \nIronically, We’re forced to be accepting and inclusive to the point we’ve ended or changed standard traditions to adhere to that. Please allow me to get express some things. \n\nFirst, our homeland was divided into two, one part went to Muslims(Pakistan) and one went to Hindus(India). If we talk about our own state, we are labelled as terrorists. Recently, a 21 year old protester(Google the name Shubhkarman) was shot at by the police and nobody was held accountable. Over 700 people died, in 2021, on the streets of Delhi while protesting for a year to stop corporate buyouts of our agriculture lands(these lands are not 100-200 acre like in West, average land holding by Punjabi farmers is 2.4 acre). Our parents want us to survive, so they send at least one kid to foreign land(Australia, NZ, Canada, US, Dubai, Malaysia, Italy, you name a country).\n\nIndians call us terrorists, westerners call us cheap unskilled labour and some even call us shit skinned, pajeets, diaperheads. \n\nI guess we are just sub-humans who have no rights.

I honestly think some Canadians people have memory problems. 30 years ago Brampton was known as the town with the most Indians. Nobody complained. The cost of living and housing went up in the last 10 years and now all of a sudden people complain about something that has always been. The only difference is theres more Indian students. Its a student issue, not an Indian issue. Then you got white drugged up people blaming immigrants for their choices. Nobody forced you to do drugs. If you are poor and homeless this does not mean you turn to drugs. The land is vast, there are plenty of chances. Blaming immigrants for your failure is a classic gaslighting tactic that is just pure bs. The reason why crime and drug addiction is up, is because lack of government punishment for open drug use, lack of protecting the mailing system, lack of cracking down and normalization of drug use. You go to Dubai, An Arab city that has majority Desi people. Where is the crime where is the drugs? None. Everyone is happy. This is not an Indian issue this is a Canada issue.

Canadian's born here in Canada are stuggling to find fulltime work, without work we can't afford housing, shelter, food, or be able to save for our retirement...we were born in this country, its ours, and we can't go anywhere else without applying to other countries, and frankly, our country can not abbandon true Canadians, that's just not possible...abd its not our government's job to provide shelter, work, or free food to these international or visitors, its their country's responsibility...go back home and demand your country's government for jobs. I feel lot of this started as a solution to solve the population crisis, and now immigration has ended up as Canada's addiction. People who run out of visa should leave, sure, but it's basic human instinct to try and stick to the better place. Also, if you don't bring value to the country, you will be the first victim of deportation. If you had a valuable skill or strong academic accolades you would not be kicked out, but because you don't, you are getting kicked out, which is more than fair when a country cannot house you without hurting its own population. Two sides to all coins. \nThat said, I see that while the anonymous hate towards immigrants was always there, this atmosphere has changed the humble and polite Canadians into angry ones in open. I think it is government's fault for bringing people here, so we should point our anger correctly. They could ve stopped it at any point in time, but they didn't, and now people who came here like this good life, and yes it is coming at the expense of Canadians. I agree to that, but again, it's the government who bought them here, and filled their pockets, now as humans, immigrants want to stay at a better place. \nIf your read the whole comment.
