The hate and ignorance here is abhorrent. The thousands of asylum seekers entering Canada are fleeing from the United States. There fleeing from YOUR country! And what would you like us to do with them? Take their children away and lock them in cages!? How’s that working for you?\nBelieve it or not, Canada has a much more stringent vetting process for entry than the US. And a vast majority of these people will not qualify for entry. In the mean time, let due process take its course and yes, treat people humanly while here. \nI weep for a society that fails the poor and needy, it is by that standard that we are judged as humans.

Consider an investment in your future. In 50 years the amount of money spent on these migrants fleeing from desperate situations is a paltry sum Mr Scrooge. BUT if one of those people makes a dramatic difference to your country then think how far ahead you will be. \nThe alternative is to send back the refugees or illegals and wish them well. That would be a catastrophic waste of potential life. So are you really worried about hotel costs in the grand scheme of things. Are your really? Pitiful.

There's nothing to be scared about. Muslims are peaceful. Whether you choose to believe that or not is your choice. I see no difference about anyone, anywhere and anything, anymore about living in this planet. The only way is to see the big picture. It sounds nice to say “Everyone has a human right to go where they want.” It isn’t so simple. If people come illegally, they affect everyone in the new country and all the people coming legally. If you detain them together with their family, you are incarcerating children, if you take the parents only you break up families. If you send them back with no detention and no appeals, you miss cases with legitimate grounds to have an exception. Bottom line, someone is on the losing end no matter which policies you use—it’s a fiction to say there is a win-win-win. So let’s make hard choices.

I understand that everyone deserves peace but Canada isn't responsible for every human being on this planet. \nPlus a refugee is a person who just escaped and needs refuge or faces death and or torture back in their country. This is NOT the case.\nCanada is not in the wrong in this case.

One of my co workers who were Mexican , said they they .ight .over to Canada is bad. I told regardless of what the candian President days immigration is tough. I understsnd of what latinos and other South America people are going through, it's rifled with strife, violence, drugs, cartels, traffking drugs, human, and whoring. it amazes me how little human beings can care about each other. it breaks my heart to see a man who wants to provide for his family be turned away and thought of as a criminal because he escaped a country riddled with murder. documented or not they deserve better. most undocumented immigrants don’t come here to commit crimes or steal your jobs, they come here for refuge. undocumented immigrants don’t even qualify for welfare programs and continue to pay taxes. the alternative, legal immigration, can take up to 15-30 years of them living in constant fear of death. they are humans and we should treat them as such

I hate that at my work that we have a 5 foot rule; if a customer is within sight in 5 feet of you, you are to ask them if they need help with anything. Whether or not we suspect them of stealing. We don't discriminate racially, we do this with every person who walks into the store. Which is ridiculous because our store is very small and we have anywhere between 3 and 6 employees on the floor at any given time. So, inevitably, every customer is offered help many many times in their visit. I am always worried that a person of colour will think I'm profiling them, when I'm really not. I genuinely just want to know if they're finding everything they need or have any questions. If we were to racially profile based on the people who have stolen from us in the past, we'd be going after every white person who walks in the store. In my 3 years working there we have had only white people steal from us. So sick of the race issue, we're all humans. The amount of melanin in our skin should not matter.

Do I feel sorry for them? Yes. I absolutely have compassion for them. I have compassion for all humans. I feel sorry for them and the homeless people standing on the corner everyday when I leave work. That being said we (America) cannot save the billions of poor people in the world. Important thing for those watching to keep in mind is that every black person has different experiences across the country. You'll have areas where blacks are racially disadvantaged and discriminated against, and others where they are equal and simply seen as another normal human. For me, it has been the latter fortunately, I've only experienced racism 1 time in my 14 years in Ottawa (born and raised in Ethiopia).
