I’m a white guy that only speaks English. In Montreal the minority community treated me warmly. Giving extra food at restaurants, etc. In this case skin colour didn’t matter. Only that I fit into the minority.

I’m sorry, but I have very little sympathy for them, they don’t go through the immigration process everybody else has to, and then they in most cases lie about being refugees, when most of them are economic migrants, and add to that this guy seems to been in North America for a few years and can’t even speak English, doesn’t seem to help his case.

Canada? We speak like Americans but look, we say ''EH'' at the end of our phrases. That makes us sound Canadian. If you think that adding a stupid word at the end of a phrase is creating an accent, its an insult for all the countries that have spend centuries to develop an actual accent that makes them sound different from the others. You guys are in denial.

I can give you plenty of examples of being racially profiled as a white man, like the time i walked into a Mexican market in L.A. and as i walked in overheard what the cashier charged a Mexican woman for a couple of items, so i grab the same exact items and bring them up to the counter just to be charged 3 times as much.  Go to any swap meet in So. Cal as a white man and see how you are treated amongst the Mexican vendors. And the further south you go the worst it is.  Maybe white people are not supposed to speak up? Or maybe the time a black guy said to the white boy door to door sales man that he was in the wrong neighborhood in Pasadena, Ca.Where do we put the attention? Or is it all about ratings again?

The canadians are as cold as their weather...poor guy got rejected after such a DUMB MOVE .Generally speaking living in the US is way easier than in Canada ,where you have to be a genius (overqualified) to get almost any decent job.Not to mention the brutal winters (except vancouver) Only 2 good things about canada : it's healthcare and safety . Much easier to have a comfortable life in the US despite being undocumented .You just have to keep a low profile and be a law abiding citizen.The american economy is simply the BIGGEST in the planet .So many businesses : someone will give you a chance ...as simply as that !

3:37 a refugee is someone that can convince an adjudicator that they will be persecuted or in immediate danger if they return - this guy appears to be a total economic refugee.\n\nLook at this case - 15 years in the USA - over 15 years outside his home country\nNo evidence of his risk to return to his country.\nNo visible ability to speak English, none at all. Or his family. How is that helping his case? \nUnder the table money - if oil patch workers cannot work in Alberta how can legally he frame houses? \nSkips hearing to hide his family - automatic deportation order. \nRefugee is a Federal matter, so how can skipping across a Province delay his hearing? \nUnaware of even basic laws and rules - his expectations were false and he is an illegal trying to claim refugee status. \n\nReally not sorry for this particular case, he has no idea of the rules and regs and expects things will bend and go his way. His lawyers took his money and it appears he had no idea of the minimum requirements to stay.

Funny how he was a native Spanish speaker, still no interest to move to Mexico or some other less white place or Spanish speaking peace\n\nAlso, love how I predicted children crying the moment I saw that the guy has kids. VICE never miss such an opportunity.

I used to live in Brampton and this is the city where I first landed. No hatred for the city but people have ruined it. I'm a brown guy myself so I can't be racist against my own people and tbh, some of the best people I know in Canada are Sikhs but even they accept the fact that there is a large number of bad apples in their community. Sikhs have played a major part in both positive and negative way, to make and break this city.\n\nInsurance scams in Brampton cost their citizens to pay one of the highest premiums in the country. Generally, drivers in Brampton have no fuckin' idea how to drive because the licences were literally bought. \n\nA large number of people of our brown community always hell bent on abusing the system, wherever they go. We bring the same back home mindset here in Canada rather follow the system. \n\nThe only thing mostly brown community is focused on is how to make money and that's all. Don't try to learn the language, don't like to mix with people, don't care about the laws or anything. They only like to have nice big houses, show off their leased fancy cars and that's all.\n\nI left this city for good and don't regret my decision at all when I see numerous videos about the bad situation in Brampton. I'd love to move back to Ontario but cannot live in this city anymore. One thing really pissed me off when I was there that most people expect every brown person to speak Punjabi and when I used to tell them that I don't speak or understand Punjabi, you could see the surprized looks on their face.

Before I moved to Brampton, I had no idea HOW MANY Indians actually lived here. I'm of south Asian descent but I grew up here as a Canadian. I still keep my culture but I'm Canadian FIRST. It's true too, some of them don't believe in deodorant, holy shit I literally had to tell a guy who sat beside me on the bus that he smelled. I know it was rude but if someone doesn't tell these people, they will think not wearing deodorant is normal. I miss the Canada I grew up in. My friends were mostly white but there was a nice mix of us: white, black, asian so we all got along. Today, everyone is in their own groups, strangers are the enemy, there is so much more segregation than there has ever been. Not long ago at a Tim Hortons I heard an Indian guy who was clearly new to the country telling his friend he didn't have to learn English because everyone in Brampton speaks Punjabi, it was insulting hearing that.....Listen up Indians and any immigrants coming here: BEFORE you come here, learn English, LEARN the customs and learn the CANADIAN WAY. You owe it to Canada, give something back before you start taking.

Vancouver only excepts Millionaire Chinese and Asians people fact they had so many they had to make new rules for them buying in Vancouver. This is symptomatic of our government's attempt to change Canada. The Queen is still the head of state and belongs in the middle. The GG is the Queen's representative. We may not appreciate the Queen the way we used to do but she is still the head of state. Our laws are enforced in her name.

People who can't speak the national language shouldn't be moving to another country especially not illegally. I can't feel sorry for this guy. I mean sure he's probably had a rough time but having kids and then trying to illegally immigrate just doesn't seem like the right way to try to live life especially not to raise a child in. \n\nIf you want to better yourself and your family learn the language and properly apply for a visa and come work here and contribute. Show Canada that your a worthy addition and eventually you can legally immigrate here. Trying to sneak in and avoid being deported isn't the way to go and it will never help your family in the long run.

I have zero issues with immigrants seeking a better life in another country, being one myself, but a few things about some immigrants baffle me always. How do people expect to be welcomed and accepted by the folks of another country when they don't even bother to learn the language. This guys been in the US for 15 years and can't speak any English? Its not the worse case , I've seen people live far longer 30 or 40 years in countries like the UK where I'm from and they cannot speak a word of English because they choose to live in a self imposed microcosm of the country they came from. \nThey have to understand that it's very insulting to native people and citizens of a country that you want to be treated as a citizen yourself but won't make efforts to adapt to the language and cultures of the country you have chosen to live in, I cannot think of a better way to ostracize yourself than failing to learn the language.\n It would be far easier to have sympathy for your cause if you are able to show that you have integrated and intend to be a citizen of that country 100% and the easiest way is to be able to communicate your cause yourself.

It's this guy's fault for expecting different. People have the wrong impression that Canada has loose immigration laws and just let's anyone into the country. Also if you move to Canada you have to be able to speak english or french. This guy's too arrogant and expects people to adapt to him not the other way round. That's not how it works. You adapt to the country not the other way round.

The best and smartest thing any immigrant can do is to learn to speak and write English even though that's not politically correct to say. He would have been better off in the United States flying under the radar. Although with Trump as President INS will throw you out in a heartbeat. Also Obama deported quite a bit of Latin people from this country. Obama was enforcing the laws a lot of people don't want to hear that but that's true. Somebody gave this guy some bad information. Canada has the population of 30 million people. It's easier to keep track of 30 million than 350 million which is the approximate population of the United States. Also to my Republican friends Ronald Reagan naturalized and gave amnesty to 10 million Latin immigrants to this country in one swipe of his pen back in I think 1986.

So this guy left El Salvador to come to the US. His claim was denied and he fled again to Canada where his claim was denied again- twice! 15 years in the US and you still don’t speak English? If you speak in a way that makes you sound less educated or of a lower class, then you are treated differently.\n\nTry sending in a white guy who is less clean-cut and less well-spoken and see the difference in the way he is treated. Have him act a bit nervous, look around a lot, or appear to be less than middle or upper class and see the difference in how he is treated. I guarantee he won't get good offers in those apartment buildings, if he gets any offers at all.\n\nA friend once told me a story about a friend of his who was very well off. This man went into an exclusive car dealership to look at a car on display. He didn't like to appear as well of as he was, so often wore simple jeans and t-shirt. When he asked the price of the car, the salesman took one look at his clothing an told him he couldn't afford the car. White profiling at its finest.

What, did he think he would be given a free ride? Does he actually think immigrating to a new country wasn't going to cost him anything? How many years did he live in the US? And now, in Canada for the last 10+ months, yet he can't speak a fucking word of English? \n\nNow he complains that the process is taking too long, yet, had he immigrated legally (as he should have), it would have taken FAR longer and would have to spend that time inside his home country...\n\nI really don't get his attitude, he feels as though he's entitled to immigrate to the US, even though he made absolutely no effort in doing so legally, made absolutely no effort into learning the most widely spoken language on Earth, so he became a criminal by illegally crossing the border and living in the US for years... I can't believe what's being said in these comments. So the fact that he didn't speak English in the interview is the only thing that sunk in? Ok. Many of the immigrants that come here , come for the opportunities: Work, food, shelter, etc. Learning English should be mandatory in all immigrants applying for citizenship but we can't disregard someone because they choose NOT to speak English. For all we know, this guy (I'm sure) understands and probably can speak some English but for the sake of the interview the producers mostly likely asked him and he chose to speak in Spanish.

Speaking as a person who came to Canada and hopes to get a PR in the coming year: The view that Canada welcomes anyone can´t be further from the truth. If you are a skilled worker, you´ve gone to school and you are relatively young, getting a citizenship is very straightforward, but if you don´t, Canada won´t have you, and you know what? it´s OK: all countries have the right to determine their immigration policy and enforce it. Canada´s point system is very transparent, you can calculate your points by yourself online. Not here to judge that guy, but a little research might have saved him a lot of trouble.

it's not the religion.... it's the mac's convenience and the corner stores selling tropicana juice for 6 bucks a liter. It's the family oriented hiring policies and the rural area stores being bought and not offering fishing bait, ice or firewood but instead offering dollar store fishing lures for 20 bucks. it's the electronic stores that sell tape decks and old CD players. The stuff that really makes a bad impression is when a muslim family buys a Pizza Pizza or a subway and then changes the restaurant so that there is no where to be seated and the food is processed by someone who won't look me in the eye once and speaks a language that I can't understand to an employer about my sandwich and i will never know what the problem was. I feel like my spanish and native friends treat me the same as them. I feel like the scottish guy who hates me for not waking up at 5 in the morning is only mad because i'm not working as hard as him. I'm saying that maybe a lot of muslims don't want to be our friends and maybe some do... but it seems like they don't want to be my friend but will message a pretty white girl on every single facebook post with paragraphs of physical praise. i probably get a lot of facts wrong... but that world may be too far away for us to acclimate into each others societies. I'd like it though if we could all live in such a manner where we could feel like we aren't all gunning for a chunk of the world.

My personal thought about the women in this video, good reason they cover their faces, they are butt ugly! That guy with the long beard, I can recommend him a very good Sicilian barbershop, close shave I have issues with what is going on in Canada, the fact I didn't vote for Primister Deerintheheadlights makes me all the more angry, as I feel justified to speak out against the Liberals. I didn't sign up for this. Rushing in 25k more refugees is crazy. I am concerned about the security issues, and the fact the refugees will drain even more tax dollars away from our already fragile economy. Just thinking out loud, what benefit do these refugees have coming to Canada, none. They will live a life of welfare and eventual poverty. Some very few may prosper, and others will turn to crime. I can't see 25k refugees coming to the GTA to work on the railways and build subways or doing construction work. I can't see the refugee women working at anything more than Tim Hortons, if they are even allowed to do so, based on their religion. I have seen it, I live it everyday. Someone, please prove me wrong?
