As a Canadian, I gotta say that his speech really made me proud to be Canadian and I will always stand up for our sovereignty \n just as my grandparents did.

Fantastic speech … I only wish he (and others) would stop using the Russian word ‘tsar’ instead of leader - we don’t want Russian leaders!

I do not know if tariffs or Trump's actions are the correct thing to do. But why can't the USA do 25% tariffs, if Canada has 65% tariffs on the USA? Why is Canada demanding the USA support them? Someone please explain it to me. And Trudeau could have picked up the phone and called Trump, this speech was not meant to solve anything. What is so brilliant except to heighten rhetoric and tension? Someone needs to be a grown up but going on CNN and insulting Trump isn't the way.

I have to disagree with a point made by the Prime Minister; Donald Trump is not a smart guy. He's a dangerous moron and a con man. I don't know what else we Americans need to see to learn this plain truth. If I were Canadian, regardless of my political persuasions, this is a speech and a stance to be proud of.

As a Canadian, this made me feel very patriotic :) I once heard someone say that Justin’s father possesses him in times of crisis, and that’s why he gives such rousing speeches despite being criticized for being a bit passive at other times, but I’ll give Justin full credit for this one.

Good speech, but Canada is too weak, he has to go

Notice how he slowed his speech and broke it down in small words, “big things,” “smart guy” when speaking directly to Trump? It’s like watching another adult explain things to a child and it’s so embarrassing but also so necessary.

Very good speech from a true leader ! So sad that Trump is doing this to the best allies of the USA. Obviously, Putin does really have some compromising videos and info on Trump and he is manipulating him. Today, I am ashamed to have become an US citizen. Is this what the American Dream has become ? Dear Justin, 75 million Americans voted against Donald Trump in the recent election. We appreciate your speaking directly to us today and in recent speeches you have given. We know what a good ally you have been to the US and we also know your primary concern is to Canadian citizens. While many of us have done what we could do and we also know the current trade arrangement was negotiated with you by Donald Trump in his previous term which leaves many of us scratching our heads. For my part it deeply saddens me that this has happened and all we ask or all that I ask is that you remember those of us who did not vote for this. Slightly less than half of the country. When this is over, and it will end one day we look forward to breaking bread with Canada again.
