Canada sucks. I came here as a doctor only to find endless blocks and hoops and loops. Before settling here I was told ENDLESSLY about the paradise I was about to move to (Canadians love to present their country as such), and how a job as a doctor would be there for me since I meet the qualifications. You come here and reality hits, this is a bureaucratic nightmare of a country! The lack of Canadian experience is also an excuse for discrimination. I speak four languages, worked in different countries including Colombia, USA, France. Somebody please explain to me what is so extraordinary about Canadian experience that one cannot learn elsewhere? BTW Canadian medicine is TERRIBLE, BAD! I am leaving in June, got a pretty good job lined up back home in Colombia!

I left Canada in 2004 for Thailand. I think it's the best decision I made. Canada is a beautiful country. But to make a living there is a nightmare. The Universal Healthcare is there but you won't be able to access it unless you are dying.

I was born here and im 72 yrs old. I love my country but i dont even recognize it from 25 yrs ago. Its like waking up in a night mare that just keeps getting worse. I am a resident with Muscular Dystrophy in a wheel chair. I am exhausted! I work 5 days a week 8-10 hours a day and I do not feel well at all. I have no choice but to work because I cannot afford to move - What I pay for rent in his city is insane already. There is no where for me to go and there is no way I can find a cheaper place. I feel like I am living a nightmare to be honest. It just getting harder and harder and it seems like the people in Toronto are getting colder and colder. There are no social programs with enough funding and disability income is impossible because it doesn't even scratch the surface of rent costs. Food is completely out of control too. It just feels like I am circling the drain and the will end up homeless eventually. People with disabilities are treated very poorly in this province but in Toronto it is especially cruel and cold.

I start to wonder if there's anyone who is not struggling in Toronto unless rich? I got a well paying job, not even my own place (shared house with too many people) and a car and an estimate of 70-80% of my income is used for monthly bills. You don't even get the basics in this city without struggling. Looking for alternative but rental prices seem to be high everywhere even in Kingston and other places far away. Food prices are insane, going out has become very expensive. Don't even mention all the taxes and high car insurance rates. Feel stuck. It's a nightmare.

They have huge numbers of uneducated immigrants or qualified people where there are no jobs available, massive welfare programs which are unfunded, weak social laws which allows criminals back onto the streets. Thet dont spend on necessary infrastucture ie transport because they are basically broke.\nThere is so much more to why Canada, like the US, have been turned into a new 3rd world, a middle ages style economy with shirtages if everything, restrictions on what you can do or say!

Healthcare: Governments have fkked this up. Admittedly, there has been a problem with nurses and overtime, but we are seeing the Alberta government attacking healthcare workers and allowing them to have also be subjected to the ignorant and misinformed attacks from the far right base over vaccine issues. Unvaccinated people caused more grief than was necessary when hospitals were being overwhelmed. \nTrain more doctors and nurses. Pay for their entire education. Pay them a healthy salary with reasonable workloads. Government should be paying for medical administration costs, rather than having every doctor and NP reinvent the wheel. Let the medical people do their primary job. Pay rural docs and nurses appropriately for having to endure the small town folks and farmers who think that only certain people are worthy. Privatized (and even profitized) healthcare solutions have become a nightmare for Americans who are not well off. And yet, we see our far right A hole political parties trying to push for this.

I just got my PR last July and landed Vancouver in November. I would say Canada is beautiful and peaceful in general, but when it comes to support a family here, it would be totally a nightmare for newcomers.

I can't stand this place and especially people! It's sooo dreadful, if I spoke truthfully the comment would get auto deleted. So since it turned out to be the polar opposite of the propaganda and how Canadians talk about themselves to the world (and the type of immigrants who fled poverty and had absolutely nothing back home and for whom Canada is actually an upgrade of sorts), I'll just use Canada as a stepping stone to get back to the US where I studied and got all my degrees and the place was infinitely better than Canada in almost every area. And there people are actually normal, like they'll talk to you, invite you to their home or to go out, make sure you aren't alone for Thanksgiving, etc. In Canada there's none of that, you're on your own! To me living in Canada is a nightmare!
